4-betting small vs 4-bet pushing: Do you know the reasons for 4-betting small?

1) Allow us to 4-bet bluff cheaply (great against players who 3bet bluff a lot and fold to a 4bet)
2) Pushing looks overly strong and 4-betting small may help us get more action (this applies to AA and KK more than AK and QQ).

I think Reason 1 is way more important than reason 2.

Back to the hand: I doubt you 4bet here with a bluff range? So you may not really have a reason to have a range for 4betting small.

With that said, if he calls a small 4bet with KQ/AQ/AJ and folds to a 4bet push, then pushing in this spot will be a huge mistake because we lose the opportunity to dominate him postflop. And even if you do not connect, you can easily bet 40% of the pot on dry boards and just take it down immediately when both players miss.

You are too deep to just 4bet shove preflop. I know some players are afraid that they will get called, but if he calls your 4bet, you will get it in on basiclly every flop anyway (maybe exception 9TJ diamonds). So give him the opportunity to make a misstake (calling your 4bet lighter than he should), and make a normal 4bet.
