Ordered HEM2 this evening, even if it did ate a big slice of my IRL roll ♦ Hopefully it's worth the investment in the long run. Our relationship started poorly though when it's first comment was "Payment flagged" >.<

So I was smart enough to by myself HEM2, here's first hand with the real version to post here ♦

Villain was totally unk, but based on his smallish 3-bet oop I think he isn't that good of a reg. Usually small 3-bets are a) trash that play weak OOP pof or b) Monsters, that play post-flop hard.

In this case I didn't see any value on raising flop - if I raise I could get 3-betted and then I have to give up my equity. And I could be ahead of him+I have overcards and back-door equity, so easy call.

Turn is one of the cards that I wanted to see, actually the best one in the deck. Now I have flush-draw and str8, which is absolutely nuts on 3-bet pot. When he fires again I did not see any need to raise as I have stone cold nuts and he could speww on river.

Well, River was Ez played.

1. One great hand that ended my sessions for today and added some more $ FOr my current winnings. It's not pot limit game, so I can do whatever I want on river. My range should be quite polarized here, so good spot to overbet. Against some villains I'd bet 2/3 here as bluff/value, against this guy more - he had done twice already check-call as aggressor with tp. Now I put some pressure on him. Liked my river play actually - this looks a lot like busted fd and it's good way to induce villain to hero-call with TP.

Maybe I'll just make a filter that doesn't show any losing hand.. I have soul-reads, won't play KK if I'm destined to lose ♦

Meh, not really going to add that many filters, probably just one and it will be sth. like "pots over 3bb" so I won't just record dozens of hands where I'm just folding.

Sweat sessions.. We shall try to find some good spot for that!

Okay, so many of us have had some or even more problems with tilting - bad players take our money even if we were ahead, or then we played bad and got angry. Anyway, tilt is a problem and can make a winning player to be BE player. And in a down-swing it can be bye bye for your BR. Here's some tips how to generally prevent on from losing whole roll and to slow-down tilt. Of course, only true solution is to try to find the cause for your anger..

1. DON'T BUY mental game of poker. If you want to have some solution to your problems, you should start by reading Pokerstartegy's articles about psychology and one should watch their vids. They are really +EV. Of course, if they are not helping you and you still feel frustrating or so and you want to become a pro, try The Mental Game of Poker.

2. In game you might not see when the tilt exactly comes. You should do session reviews afterwards - list up hands where you played bad and where villain played bad (beated you though he was behind when ye went AI). Sometimes you feel some heat watching them, but you have to understand deeply that they can't win buy playing bad. And when you pick up your own bad play you can just laugh and take a note about it. You should also think why you played that way and could it be the reason for your anger.

3. Have a game plan, stick to it! Having a clear plan helps you a lot in your game and should reduce your bad play a lot. One must consider the context of the table and your own relative hand-strength. Are you going to bet that table - is it bet/3bet, bet/call or perhaps bet/fold? You could also consider check/folding from time to time so you won't end up in to bad situations. You should also have plan for certain turn cards - are you still ahead, why are you betting? Bluff or value? Does that card hit our range? It's always good to give yourself good explanations about what you do or do not. When you have a game plan and you stick to it you should build up some confidence and you are controlling your own nerves a lot better.

4. Tilt Breaker +EV for hot heads. If you are really going to play as a Pro or semi-pro, and you can't fix your tilt for now, you can buy bandage called Tilt Breaker. It prevents you from doing bigger speww and to lose too much money. One should think about a bigger situation than NL4 when playing. In NL4 losing 10 BI in tilts might be just a one-day salary or less, but go to NL100 and tilt 10BI.. That affects you huge mentally!

Hopefully you people had some help here if ye had problems with tilt. Pokerstrategy is also a good community to use for your problems - there's plenty of mental coaches such as J. Tendler and that Swedish guy (sorry, can't remember your name ♦) that are likely to help you with your questions here.

On my recent article about "tilting" and stuff I talked a bit about game plan and how it easens up our play a lot. Here's one example of a plan I had with this hand:

Pre-flop: definite raise and against any player most likely calling 3-bet as we have position. Our hand is good for drawing, too. Against MP's 3-bet we could 4-bet his AI or call, depending on 3-bet size.

Flop: Easy play, we have tp. Now when villain donks small our plan for "cbet" changes as we now have to decide whether to a) call b) raise or c) fold. Folding is out of question, ofc. But what he has when he donks so small? Experience has shown that he is likely to have a weak holding, something like weak TP or FD. He could have a set, but it's small part of his range and he will be 3-betting it on flop if he has it, so plan is to raise/fold as he can call worse.

Turn: Turn is blank. In gaming situation hero clearly missed 4-6bb's of value on turn - bigger cbet wouldn't have driven him away most likely. Still, standard spot to cbet. In this case it's still bet/fold, as he could have sets in his range and random vill. won't raise us here with bare Q.

River: brick. Now it's easy shove, but in game situation hero had the stats that sb is a donk - why not to abuse it and make him go mad by betting as small as 2bb here? He can't call with JKs or so, but he could spazz out for good. This time the plan didn't work, better to just bet 1/2 or so against relatively unk. to get the max value.

That's how one plans his games and hands. We have to have certain plans for all kinds of flops. If the flop was like 228r, we could cbet if 2 or 8 were . Our plan should be to fire turn with diamonds or bw cards and same plan goes for river, too.

Cool, now I have over 500d ♦ This week started well, +4bin and bb/100 over 70. Great run, too, and one hand were I was able to crack aces! But anway, to thö hands:

1. Standard 3-bet. On river I thought about ch/x, but thought that his calling range is way wider on river than his betting range. He can have hands like AK/KQ there he calls, maybe worse K's. Sometimes he has JJ/KK/KJ, but I think his range is weaker when he wasn't raising me earlier on. His hand was a bit of a shock for me ♦

However, when the sample is so wigged, I think he could have QQ and some AK(s) in his range, so I had to stack-off. Best way to crack aces is by the way to get quads

4. Pre-flop I called, though I felt his range is slightly stronger when he 3-bets .95 - many player 3-bet a bit bigger with super hand. Plan was to call flop/fold turn, if he barrels, but as I hit my set there it was quite easy decision. Turn card was scare-card and as we are both unk. for each other, I see myself jamming here with value-hands all the time as that sizing looks more like a bluff than value hand. I think he won't fold his overpairs here and he wouldn't just call AK IMO.

So, ATM I would have a bit over 21BIN for NL25, however, I think I'll set my goal to 750d before taking a jump to bigger level. I need to see how my game changes in case of a doom-swing, on the contrary, it's better to see that I'm really crushing my level. Seems like my WR of 30,69 bb/100 isn't that realistic at all... ♦ But taking a look to my stats it seems that I am playing rather solid and keeping to play the ranges I have set for myself. I'm also rather balanced, which should help a lot on higher levels. My only concern seems to be how to defend my blinds passively as I don't want to play oop without initiative. I have some hands that I call on bb vs bu(co), but I think I could add wider range there. We will see ♦

Some players have been eager to have sweat sessions with me, my referred time for that would be on Friday (close to 12-14 UTG) or at some time on Saturday.

A whole new week with poker!

First day was great with +4bin wins and good games, but today and yesterday weren't that great. Yesterday I played in bus and had some problems with starting sessions - a bit spewwy in the beginning, then went well. After that played a bit ++ session. Today I've been so tired that my game has been somewhat B game. Managed to win 1bin with Stellar-reward and second one should come from Zoom and BOOOOM challenge. We will see whether or not I'll be in good enough shape to continue today ♦

E: For this weeks goals.. Going to study a bit about B vs B and blinds versus co/BU. I have to make more accurate standard ranges where to differ in time ♦

I also decided to start to play one table on NL25 AS soon as my BR goes to 625d. Going to play 3x NL10 and 1x NL25 then.

1. I don't always understand what villains are repping. In this first one I could have raise river, however, most of the time we are a) splitting (bigger rake) b) he could have slowplayed over pair. On the contrary, he has some random 3x, own pp's and stuff, but it's not guaranteed he'd call with them

Oh good, my blog nearly fell off from the first page of our poker blogs! O_O

But anyway.

ATM the game seems to be going well. Had 2 BE days, but both were affected IMO by my state of mind - game was some sort of B-game or C-game and all decisions were definitely not +EV. I'm soon going to beat this NL10 and move to NL25, which is good for my own goals that I represented in one of my early posts. Being a winning player on NL25 would be good for my studies and having like 4bin/week to withdraw would make my life heaven. ONLY 4bin! That's just so great. And if I'm able to move to NL50/NL100 one day I have to win only 1-2bin a week to make my life comfortable. So it motivates me a lot! Also the feeling when you are actually better player than another and you can get under their skin is great. I like it!

About NL10... On Stars most of villains are already rather exploited. They have so many bet-size leaks and nearly everyone cbets too many flops. If you cbet like 90 % of flops you are giving about 2 times/100 free 6 blinds away, which will decrease your winrate by 6bb/100. And that's hell of a lot in the long-run! Cbetting in right spots is essential and it's important to have a plan for post-flop play. Lately I've been myself improving my winrate by studying blind games and I have tried to form some sort of a call range that is, of course, dynamic and differents by villain and their tendencies. But it's good to have basics for unknown!

So for my poker.. Going to play a bit more today and on Friday having a sweat Session with one of our English community members. Hopefully I can give him some piece of advise and I hope I'm able to pick up some spots where he plays better than I.

1. In this hand I used my newfound knowledge about playing blinds. Usually I 3-bet this hand, but against unk. just a flat and play post-flop. This guy wasn't that unk, but had no sample about reacting to 3-bets.

Flop is a dry or not and I do a weak donk. Turn blank, donk for value. River is a Scary card for donk and his range is rather capped - mostly air, some Ax, maybe Kx, small pp's and slowplayed Jx. But most of his range consists of air, so better to give him space to bluff. Worked like a charm

3. In this spot I had standard play-pre-flop. On flop I decided to not cbet. These flat-calling villains won't give us value, coz: a) They are folding their overcards that most likely have only 3-outs against us b) They are calling down their pockets - we would have to bet 3-streets and c) he might occasionally bluff-raise us on flop/turn so we can't call it readless.

It's easy game from turn on. J isn't the only card in HIS range and his sizing is weak - would he bet so small with e.g JK? Same applies to river - all draws busted and it was blanker than a blank blank. So easy call and we took about max-value vs his whole range.

But it's just variance. Had 3 sessions today, overall +5bin. On session 1 and 3 my game was good, second started to be spewwy in the midst of it. Otherwise went well and it was easy to exploit bad villains.

Had one more special game during session, too - how to turn your hand into a bluff. Villain was weak on the hand, but I think he had sth. like 9x or so, and the only way to take pot was to raise. WTSD 0/2, which can't be used as a factor, but it indicated that he might scare off some time ♦ Maybe a bit light, but the only way to take pot.
