I am looking for advice in starting out on the journey to becoming a pro poker player on a smaller bankroll. For the most part I grasp position play and the importance of it. Where I tend to get lost a little is how much bank roll I should have for each situation.
at least 25 buy ins of the limit you play, let's say you want start from the bottom playing 0.01/0.02 you will need 50$, and when you hit 125$ you can move up to 0.02/0.05 avoid taking agressif shots (less then 25BI) unless you are sure you can crush the limit.

You did not give any information about your roll, your games or anything at all.
As everyone said, browse pokerstrategy's strategy articles, and study a lot. Once you really have the necessary skill you have to take it slow, and play just a couple tables. Once you are more confortable you will be able to make more and more volume.
A popular way to build a bankroll is from Multi Table SNGs.
First thing should be concidering realistic goals. "Becomming a pro" isn`t the best one to maintain motivation. 
You might find some useful tips in Chris Ferguson's Bankroll Challenge. Keep in mind he was already a pro when he started it.

Interesting.
At Poker770 right now, they have a "Free Festival" where you can register for a 10-cent freeroll.
They come often enough and are easy enough to win that this might be a way to go to do that.

I think your best bet is heads-up SnG. It has the lowest variance. I'm currently playing 4-man HUSnGs and moving up steadily.
