going to write a little something on "playing tired", whatever i feel like writing... writing this on only 4 hours of sleep as well

month so far (don't think i've played my A-game for even one session):

Spoiler

how does that even work? i think that the most important thing is to have a solid abc foundation on which you can rely on.
going to expand a bit:

- even on zoom25 most regs still are worse than abc so that solid abc makes a profit :f_eek: there are a few really good ones which i'd easily consider better than me but the huuuuuge majority are barely ok or just bad.
- keep it simple and FOLD marginal spots. when tired you're more vulnerable to tilt and mood swings, so even if a marginal herocall might be +EV in vacuum it doesn't make up for the emotional loss when you are wrong.
- tiredness gives you a good picture of your C- game, so it's interesting to review the sessions and mentally take notes of what you are doing different to "optimal" so that you keep improving the worst end of your game as well.

what's my point? idk i think that improving your C- game isn't something that is talked about much, gl cya :f_biggrin:

You can play abc poker (as you call it) up to high stakes.

Look at HansTheGreat's blog if you don't believe me. Fancy/spewy plays is pretty much never the best decision; especially at nl25-10.

Keep going your blog is gold sir.

This one was interesting.

Here's the range I gave him after calling the turn bet

Made hands:
All KQo and KQs boats 8 combos
KTs boats 2 combos

Scrap:
A:dT:d 1 combo
QTs 3 combos
Q:dJ:d 1 combo
J:d:T:d 1 combo

I think QTs makes a decent x behind. So now he can bet profitably with the rest of his range.
So calling with AJs clubs or spades is a meh 0 ev decision. It turns into a negative ev decision when:
-Villain doesn't bluff enough with his shitty 1 pair hands, i.e his J:dT:d, because he thinks its more +ev to take his showdown value verse yoru bluffs, is never bluffing rivers and is afraid of a royal flush.

Calling with A:d:J:d is a very -ev decision because it blocks his good bluffing hands.

Nobody seems to post much in the blogs I'm subscribed to, so I'm looking for some new ones to entertain me. Don't let me down. No pressure.

thanks, looks reasonable to me.
i forgot to consider his counterfeit 2p in play but as population read i think that most players are just taking their freesd... which would make it more of a fold, but yeah

alright, but you're subject to having to wait until i feel like updating, which happens... whenever i feel like it :f_confused:

i prefer to whine about bad days and making it seem like i run worse than i actually do. not that i don't run bad obv!

Oh man, I love that blog. I woke my girlfriend up because I laughed too hard. :DDD

I'm still on NL2, but I think I will move up higher soon, as soon the BR allows me. Are you still interested in a learning group? If so, I sent you a request :)

and nah i'm not really interested in groups anymore, but thanks for the offer and best of luck!

so, what's with the lack of updates? idk you should probably blame jb's bad luck
not playing much, mostly "working on my game" (whatever that means), going to test some "new ideas"... :f_biggrin:

on a way more relevant topic, i'm facing the really tough decision of choosing my next pokerstars avatar. oh my god that takes me at least one hour every single time

thanks guys

in this post i'll talk about how to make your red line go down by being aggressive:

PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BTN): 113.92 BB
SB: 102.32 BB
BB: 120.36 BB
UTG: 76.48 BB
MP: 100 BB
CO: 164.84 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K♣ 5♣

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.04 BB, fold, BB raises to 7.6 BB, Hero raises to 17.28 BB, BB calls 9.68 BB

Flop: (34.96 BB, 2 players) J♦ Q♣ 5♥
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (34.96 BB, 2 players) A♥
BB bets 19 BB, fold

BB wins 33.4 BB

3betting a nit with 75s is also a bad idea:

PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 169.48 BB
SB: 126.48 BB
Hero (BB): 104.24 BB

fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3.2 BB, Hero raises to 9.6 BB, SB raises to 126.48 BB and is all-in, fold

SB wins 19.2 BB

wtf was i thinking? i know actually, but it was stupid

In hand 1 I'd just cbet. You have five direct outs and backdoor flush and straight equity. If you're not cbetting that hand, what are you cbetting? And don't give me that 'showdown value' nonsense. You know he's betting the turn and you're folding.

nah i didn't think about that "sdv nonsense", at the time i just thought i was screwed against his range :f_biggrin: ofc cbetting is better specially considering how little he has to fold for autoprofit + i most often get to see all community cards.

depending on mood i post bad hands or good hands or both, these are bad ones ofc. :f_biggrin:

In hand 1

I think it's a pretty bad flop to cbet. What does cbetting achieve? Looks to me like it would be burning money with shallow stacks.

It hits his range so hard, AQ, KQs, sets, some overpairs. What hands is the average guy here calling a 4bet with and then folding on that flop? Maybe TT. Pretty hard to find much of anything anything. So he's maybe folding about 20% of the time.

I prefer checking back heros entire range on the flop. If he has AJs or TT, the hands he 'might but probably wont fold', he's going to let you see a river anyways.

lol pokertracker update

pros: database performance when browsing is very good, specially custom stats performance is awesome
cons: well... it doesn't work?

thankfully i did the right thing(tm) and decided to make a new database for this update.
reimporting my hands took literally over 6 times as long compared to the previous version (which isn't an isolated issue at all apparently), but hey ok, it's worth it... right?

NO! when you're playing the program can't keep up either :f_eek:
after everything was done i decided to play a session (hey, it took literally over a day to reimport the hands, i missed pokers) and the program can't keep up with importing the hands in realtime anymore for some reason, which is no isolated issue either.
so you can have an idea, i actually finished this session at ~11:10 am:
