Good morning dear coach, it's me again!

In an attempt to make their game more profitable I try new ideas, maybe they are not correct, and I hope that you will help me stay on the right path.

The guys at my request made for my PT4 stat "Fold BTN vs Co Open" it displays the value of the formula (1 - (3bet vs CO open + call vs CO open)) * 100. This stat shows how often a player on the BTN will be defending his position.

Do you think there will be appropriate, if the value of this parameter is close to the 100, I can open the spectrum of CO that I would open up with BTN? And with a decrease in this parameter I have narrowed their range.

And if I understand correctly if:
- Fold BTN vs Co Open = 95%
- Fold to Steal (SB) = 80%
- Fold to Steal (BB) = 70%
I can steal the blinds every hand?

I understand that many players will see it, but most of them are playing 20 tables and they have no time to think))

Well - these stats would be very helpful indead. Unfortunately you won't have a sufficient number of hands on most of your opponents. The results on these very specific spots are close to 0 most of the time. Therefore these stats aren't helpful in most circumstances and I wouldn't include them in my HUD because they are more irritating then helpful.

I would personally suggest to go with the basic stats: VPIP/PFR/3bet
ALternativly you can use RFI (Raise first in) instead of PFR. It's the more exact stat.

If you want to add further stats you can think about Steal %, agg Factor and cbet as well as fold to cbet and fold to 3bet.
Be aware that stats are only useful if you know their exact meaning and are familiar with the implications.

Asaban

Asaban with limping in lesson 2 you say that we should add 0.5bb per limper, in a cash game course i was studying it said add 2bb per limper + your raise. Which is a big difference. So I assume this is because mtt is different to cash.

Thing is I have a decentish hand (QK) and whole table limps, I know if i raise a tiny amount like 3x+0.5bb whole table will call, even here where i raises much more i get 4 callers.

Question 1
So my question is do we always stick to just 1/2bb per limper, or if table is so bad, do we increase?

Thanks!

Also question 2

When using a hud is it better for me to use adj BB or BB? i have adj BB on right now, but its giving me a much smaller BB than my actual BB, not srue which is better for use with your course, thank you

Hi iSoOwnYou.

I got the impression that this strategy does not work for freerolls, players too loose and made the call any bet. But in any case: the most profitable strategy - is the opposite of the game opponents. I'm in the freerolls, in the initial stage, I try not to open the hands of those with whom I am not ready exhibi preflop.

Good luck at the tables.

Hi, just writing in on this thread to say thanks to Asaban for compiling such a straightforward yet useful tournament strategy. For quite a while I have struggled to find the right ranges to raise and in what position etc; and these charts really helped. The ALLIN chart and the blind/steal charts are also very good.

I cashed in two tournaments today using advice from this tutorial, cashed 11th out of 450 players and then came 6th out of 250 so pretty pleased by todays results. I did get forunate on a few all in situations, and of course as always there is a strong element of luck in poker, but I do find the tutorial helped me to sharpen up my raising ranges and be less loose with marginal hands out of position.

Thanks again.

I like your play =)
A lot of dead money was added to the pot and there is a decent chance we can take it down preflop.
If not we should have an okish equity against his range which is perfectly fine because of all the chips we make in the situations where all of our opponents fold.

nh!

Asaban

Just finished 70/4300 in 0.87c - last time I will pop into this thread but I just wanted to thank you once again. This course is the best poker training I have ever had. It has given me a solid foundation to my game now. I have tried to develop a winning strategy for ages and tried many things. I thought I knew what I was doing but really I didn't.

With your MTT course I feel like a house that has had its foundations excavated and replaced with solid iron and concrete. The changes I am making and adaptions like studying some nash equilibrium calling ranges for specific positions with specific M etc - are overlaying onto this foundation. But it's the foundation that I got from your course that has proved the most valuable part of any training I have ever had.

Someone I met on another forum just pointed me to this thread, which is how I signed up to pokerstrategy in the first place, because they reccomended your course - I'm pleased I didn't take their recommendation lightly. Whatever happens from here on and whatever direction my poker goes - I at least now have a winning MTT game. Thanks a tonne for your high quality training.

Dear Asaban,

I have 2 questions for you:

1. You wrote in your coaching that some chosen hands can be pushed also with +1 call. What does it mean? Does it mean that if someone openraised and someone else called, we can push, too?

2. Do we need the same strategy at MTT turbos that you wrote in your coaching? Or what are the differences by the followed strategy?

Thank you for your help in advance.

I am looking forward to hearing from you, soon.

Best regards,

Grindelwald333

Extremely great course!!!

Just having a problem understanding the Big Blind Defence Chart.

The yellow hands (22-99) are calling hands only if there is an open raise from the BU or SB. So you do not call if there is a raise from an earlier positions or raise if there is a limper in any position?

The blue hands you would raise against limpers but fold against a raise from any position?

The combined blue and yellow hands you call when there is an open raise from BU or SB and raise if there are limpers from any position?

Hey guys =)

@iSoOwnYou: Thanks alot for your kind words. Great to hear that people enjoyed the course and that it helped you to improve your game significantly. Keep on working on your game and try to improve constantly. If you do so, you should be able to achieve even better results in the future! Best of luck for that.

@Grindelwald333: Can you point me to the exact quote that you are reffering to in your first question? Not quite sure which lection you refer to and I don't want to cause confusion ;)
Regarding turbo tournaments: Yes, the strategy is perfectly fine for turbo's. Be aware that turbos aren't recommended for beginners since there is a lot of variance involved and you will need some decent ICM knowledge in the late game. Tournaments with a standard structure will most likely suit your strengths a bit better.

@Creoboter: Good question =)
Pocket pairs can always be called if the situation allows you to use the Call20 rule that we talked about in the very first lesson. In addition you are allowed to call them if the open raise comes from late position, as described in the chart you are reffering to.
Your statement regarding the blue hands, as well as the blue/yellow hands is correct.

Hope I was able to clear things up!
If you have any further questions feel free to ask!

Regards,
Asaban

Dear Asaban,

I know the values in the HUD for a cash game, but how do they differ in an MTT?
(VPIP, PFR, Postflop AF, 3bet)

My second question is that what is the difference between a 180 man MT SNG and a 180 man MTT?

Thank your for your help in advance.

Best regards,

Grindelwald333

Most important stats are VPIP/PFR/3bet. Most other stats won't have sufficient sample size in most cases.
180 man mtsng's are basically the same as a 180 man MTT.
The term MTSNG is used to describe a tournament that has a fixed number of entrants, while still having multiple tables.
MTT's won't have that player cap most of the time and if they do the cap does not have to be hit in order to start the tournament.

Asaban
