Just wanted to ask you guys what line you think is best to take, when defending the big blind with a hand like 99 Pre-Flop

Is it best to fold only getting 5-1 playing 99 oop? when we are looking for 7-1 to hit our set on the flop? (im going to look an idiot if its more )

When it comes to me i have to put another small bet into the pot (2 cents), there are 5 1/2 (11 cents) small bets already in the pot, so that's 5.5/1, was just thinking it would be best to fold here, and wait for this spot when im getting more pot odds/more callers of the preflop raise? I know 99 is probably weak against the hands calling the raise here so am i also right in saying we are only playing this hand here to flop a set, check-raise a set or check fold a flop we don't like?

Thanks in advance

You are overcomplicating it, 99 is a standard call. 5:1 to play 99 is amazing, is it not? And that's not really all that counts, 99 is a pretty strong hand anyway and i think you need a decent reason to fold it preflop against even UTG opens.

In your example it is a snap call

Thanks for your response, i was just trying too see what others thought, i read a recommendation on waiting to get 10 to one (or better) on a call here.

should raise this hand if there was no raise and lots of callers for value?

you should probably 3bet for value, but it's a call at the very least. folding is a gigantic mistake. you can profitably call 96o in that spot
