Holiday Photos

We went for one week to Dorset on the South Coast of England. England is not that warm in summer so in April it can be quite chilly!

We arrived early (before we could check in to our accommodation) so we went to the beach to wait. Of course the kids just HAD to go in the sea. It was freezing!!!!!!!!!!

Jackson stayed in for longer and of course got soaked through!

I decided to bury them to try to get them warmed up again!!!

But Jackson could not get warm so....

He nicked his mum's coat and Francesca's hat to get warm!!! Good look!?

Kids with new T-shirts and lanyards with the characters from the camp site all over them!

They got prizes for making Easter bonnets (hats) at one of the activity sessions. I helped with the sticky tape so rewarded myself with Guinness!!!

We spent one day at Seaton in Devon and went on the old trams there. Was glorious weather this day and we all had a fantastic time!

On the penultimate day it was great weather again so we went to Lyme Regis beach for a few hours...

(That's a Porsche 911 made out of sand you know!?)

Overall we had a fantastic time spending quality time all together. I am counting down the sleeps until our next vacation to Wales now. It is 118!!! :f_cool:

In May I want to play 40,000 hands minimum. I was going to aim for 50,000 but there are too many things that can make it difficult (stop loss etc) for me so will set 40k this month and if I do that okay think about going for more in future.

I will play 2 tables of Zoom maximum and keep my same stop loss rules (I basically should never lose more than $20 in a session).

I play around 400 hands per hour doing 2 tables which also includes a 3 or 4 minute break to take my eyes off the pc. I am on pc something like 12+ hours per day on some days!

So my overall thinking is around this...

25 days of 4 hour sessions is 25 x 4 x 400 = 40,000 hands

Of course things can go wrong but also things can go right so hopefully this will be possible!

Oh I should say, one of the main reasons for trying to get more volume is just to get bigger samples to work on to leak find and improve my game. Also it will be good for me to focus on being more efficient at this anyway.

We are going to work hard on improving my BB win rate for the foreseeable future as it is my worst position relative to other regs at my games.

It was like this: November -45evbb/100; December -61evbb/100; January -49evbb/100; February -55evbb/100; March -35evbb/100; April -49evbb/100.

I want to get it consistently at that March level of -35evbb/100 and better!

Day 1

I won $10 straight away with this nice hand...

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (SB): $10 (100 bb)

Flop: ($2.30) K♥: 9♦: 6♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $1.45, UTG raises to $9.05 and is all-in, Hero calls $7.45 and is all-in

Turn: ($20.10) 2♣: (2 players, 2 are all-in)

$20.10 pot ($0.90 rake)
Final Board: K♥: 9♦: 6♠: 2♣: 5♣:
Hero showed K♠: K♣: and won $19.20 ($9.20 net)
UTG showed Q♦: A♣: and lost (-$10 net)

Built it up a little more but then felt like I was losing a lot of hands and most of my winnings were gone so I dropped down to NLZ5 for a while to steady the ship, win a few dollars and play NLZ10 again.

It was very break even there for a long time but later on in the session won some nice pots to finish up with nice winnings and completed my pre-session target of 1600 hands in almost exactly 4 hours.

Bonkers fish...

This is a really nice thing to say - thank you very much! Funnily enough we went out for a family meal yesterday and they were absolute terrors so it made me LOL a little bit!!! But yes, they are lovely kids on the whole, thank you so much.

40,000 Hands in May - Day 2

Today was much tougher than Day 1.

For the last hour (of four) I was really struggling to focus. I think it was after a tough long day at work which took a lot of eye focus (reading paperwork and pc monitor).

From now I will take a 2 to 3 minute break from my screen every 30 minutes.

Day 2 Graph

I was flying high at NLZ10 then lost a quick buy in via redline rape. This is possibly a sign that I am not playing well so dropped down to NLZ5 (@ 600hands).

Was going well there then had a brain shut down moment (common occurrence btw) and snapped this off...

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $5.12 (102.4 bb)
BB: $5.44 (108.8 bb)
Hero (UTG): $5 (100 bb)
MP: $7.83 (156.6 bb)
CO: $5.43 (108.6 bb)
BTN: $5.52 (110.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A♥: A♠:
Hero raises to $0.14, MP calls $0.14, CO calls $0.14, 3 folds

Flop: ($0.49) 4♥: 6♥: 5♥: (3 players)
Hero checks, MP checks, CO checks

Turn: ($0.49) Q♠: (3 players)
Hero bets $0.37, MP calls $0.37, CO folds

River: ($1.23) 2♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.78, MP raises to $7.32 and is all-in, Hero calls $3.71 and is all-in

Results:

Spoiler

$10.21 pot ($0.42 rake)
Final Board: 4♥: 6♥: 5♥: Q♠: 2♥:
Hero showed A♥: A♠: and lost (-$5 net)
MP showed 7♥: 8♥: and won $9.79 ($4.79 net)

Wasn't sure whether to bet that flop, feel like check is ok. River was zero thought process and I think I could fold it looking back.

Lost another buy-in just after with this cooler...

Do you think I should isolate the fish preflop or is limp behind and go multiway okay?

First hand (AA) : I'd open bigger UTG (with all my range of course). Checking flop is fine, betting flop would have been fine too. As played hard to fold river because he can't put you too much on the nut flush.

Second hand (66) : Isoraise pre every day. I'm having a really hard time figuring out the slightest spot where you could theoretically argue for an overlimp instead of a isoraise. (For example sometimes when you're on the SB that might make sense but never MP.)
Hard to analyze the rest of the hand as it's a limped pot and everything is possible for everyone to hold but I'd say it's allright.

Third hand (KK) : lol

Fourt hand (T8s) : Once again I think you don't raise big enough preflop. Part of your edge is based on the fact that you build pots in spots where you have a tighter range and/or a positional advantage and/or a skill advantage. Hence the more you can get away with big sizings preflop the more you should do it because that's how you deepen your earnings on the long run. And trust me at micros you can =)
You'll have plenty of time to minraise and bet small when you are in midstakes, for now just learn to fully apreciate the value you can get from fishes !

40000 Hands In May - Day 3

I set my target at 1500+ hands for today.

I train Wing Chun Kung Fu after work and don't get home until 8.00. Then my kids were still out of bed (no school on Thursday due to voting in local election taking place in their school!) so I had 20 minutes with them and lost more time!

Was still determined to get in 1500+...

Again I was going very nicely at NLZ10 but at 400 hand mark received redline rape again, lost a buy-in and dropped down to remain sane!

NLZ5 started very badly with a couple of bad beats but I had already won a flip at NLZ10 so it evens out! In fact better to run 2bi under at 5 and one over at 10 than the other way around!

Fun Hands

Time bank call from villain, certainly had me fooled!

40000 Hands In May AND Weekly Summary

40000 Hands - Day 4

Not so good today!

I set my target at 1600 hands and had a couple of small interruptions from kids which meant I might have only had 1500 today.

As it was I hit stop loss so had to call it a day early...

Day 4 Graph and Stats

Plenty of the famous redline rape as per usual.

A couple of hands I am not sure if I played them badly so let's take a look...

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $10.66 (106.6 bb)
BB: $10.47 (104.7 bb)
UTG: $20.75 (207.5 bb)
MP: $10.45 (104.5 bb)
CO: $65.14 (651.4 bb)
Hero (BTN): $10.29 (102.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with K♦: K♥:
UTG raises to $0.30, MP calls $0.30, CO calls $0.30, Hero raises to $1.70, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.40, MP calls $1.40, CO calls $1.40

Flop: ($6.95) 3♠: 2♦: 7♣: (4 players)
UTG checks, MP checks, CO checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($6.95) 3♦: (4 players)
UTG checks, MP checks, CO checks, Hero bets $3.98, 2 folds, CO calls $3.98

River: ($14.91) Q♦: (2 players)
CO bets $4.80, Hero calls $4.61 and is all-in

Results:

Spoiler

$24.13 pot ($1.09 rake)
Final Board: 3♠: 2♦: 7♣: 3♦: Q♦:
CO showed 7♦: 8♦: and won $23.04 ($12.75 net)
Hero showed K♦: K♥: and lost (-$10.29 net)

So on the flop I am looking back and thinking maybe I should bet to get value from 88+ and 7x but in game my thought was that I can get the money in over 2 streets so check back flop is fine as it is so dry.

On turn I nearly timed out thinking what bet size to do and I think I just mashed the 60% button in the end. I don't know what thought process would be good here. I just thought v 4 players I can bet fairly big.

River I was like "oh hell, I am beat but only need to be good 1 in 5". Trouble is I think I only beat a spazz out.

What do you say? Should I fold there? And flop and turn???

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $8.62 (172.4 bb)
BB: $4.80 (96 bb)
Hero (UTG): $5.05 (101 bb)
MP: $7.25 (145 bb)
CO: $5 (100 bb)
BTN: $5.02 (100.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J♦: K♦:
Hero raises to $0.11, MP calls $0.11, 3 folds, BB raises to $0.17, Hero calls $0.06, MP calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.53) 9♦: K♣: J♠: (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.40, MP calls $0.40, BB raises to $4.63 and is all-in, Hero raises to $4.88, MP folds

Turn: ($10.19) 4♠: (2 players, 1 is all-in)
River: ($10.19) 8♥: (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$10.19 pot ($0.42 rake)
Final Board: 9♦: K♣: J♠: 4♠: 8♥:
BB showed 9♠: 9♥: and won $9.77 ($4.97 net)
Hero showed J♦: K♦: and lost (-$4.80 net)
MP mucked and lost (-$0.57 net)

This hand the fish does a min squeeze so I am sure calling preflop is okay.

When she checks flop I am pretty sure I have a mandatory value bet with top two.

When the fish check-raises all in he can have straight, sets, 2 pairs AA and AK I reckon so calling seems okay???

Am I being too optimistic here do you think???

Even if I take out AA, AK I can still call so maybe I am being paranoid here!?

May So Far...

Volume wise it is going okay. I only lost around 500 hands to my daily targets of 1600 hands so far but I think I can catch that up.

Need to avoid stop losses!

Results are going well and of course I only look at ev winnings anyway!!!!!!!

Holà amigo, interesting to get your child to take part in your training haha, keep pushing up ! ;)

First hand (KK) : Wtf flop ? What are you waiting for, an ace to hit the turn maybe ? Bet flop, I don't care how dry the board, moreover multiway. Bet only 1/3 if you want, but for god sake bet.
As played it's unavoidable river imo, the thing with the check flop is that you blur everyone's range so you can very well still be ahead by that trick (stuff like A7, TT, Qx,..).

Second hand (KJs) : 0,11 UTG, seriously... you don't like money ? :P
Of course it's a setup, no need to become paranoid, there is still at least KK+ here, and maybe often enough even AK yeah, unfoldable for you don't worry.

I probably would leave out K9o, J9o next to the AKo. Even on NL2 and 5 they don't raise with this hand OTF but play more passively IMO. What do you get when you leave out those 2 as well? KJo is a close one but I think we should have some hands in villain's range.

40000 HANDS IN MAY - DAY 5

After work today we took my daughter to cricket practice! She is only 8 but she is sport mad so she has something going on nearly every day!

It meant my session did not start until 21.20hrs and after 3 hours I was really tired and starting to play my Z game so I called it a day.

MAY SO FAR...

After 5 playing days I would have liked to be at 8000 hands so a bit of catching up to do!

Not too sure how yet but hopefully I can find some hours here and there. And NO STOP LOSS please!!!

Have a great weekend amigos! Thanks for reading!

40000 HANDS IN MAY

Days 6 & 7

I managed to get a few hundred extra hands in over the weekend but nothing spectacular.

Too busy having an amazing time with my family to be honest! We went out for the day yesterday and just had a really perfect time together!

Did not have time to put some hands on this morning as was figuring out new way to review BB hands and got confused!

May So Far...

So after 7 days my target would be 9032 hands (7/31x40000) so not too far behind.

Tonight is Wing Chun after work and will do some strength training on arms and shoulders and then crush poker.

My quads are still a little bit sore from last Tuesday's "daughter lifting" but could be good for a workout tomorrow.

Have a good day amigos! Thanks for reading!

40000 HANDS IN MAY

Day 8

Well. I got my butt handed to me on a plate last night so I did not hit my target of 1500 hands!

Within 85 hands I knew this was not going to be my day at the tables! Just got bossed around and did not know what I could do (if anything).

Dropped down to NLZ5 to consolidate but it was similar there. I did steady the ship but I could not win a pot and there were just loads of situations where I did not know what to do.

No worries though. These days happen. I know what to work on and work is what I will do. #NEVERQUIT

At least I got to 923 hands before stop loss!!!

It will take some catching up now but I will try my best! No need to panic yet!

May So Far...

Yuk!

Other Stuff...

Wing Chun was fantastic! We started doing some Countering Kicks work which I think I am going to like a lot! It was way too much information for me last night so I was just like "you throw some and let's see what I do!". Awesome!

Did a good workout too. Push ups and pull ups with good form and controlled and slow.

I am not in real pain this morning but I can definitely feel it in my arms, shoulders and chest. Tomorrow could be another story!

Going for a leg workout tonight. Squats with daughter again and going to try some stiff legged deadlifts maybe using my son as weight!!!!!!

Have a great day amigos! Thanks for reading!

Day 9

Target for today was 1600 hands (assuming kids go to bed on time which is a stupid assumption to make!)...

Started off badly again at NLZ10 and then remembered I had had 3 losing days there anyway so I dropped to NLZ5 again.

It was going horribly there too after a set up or two then variance switched and got back enough to enable me to get 1600 hands in.

Booked a tiny win too!!!

hey, i did not read all of your post so far but some summories and this I love what you are doin.

The reason I am writing is your Squat technique. While I do not want to seem like a "know-it-all"-guy I struggled with myself if I should post or not.
but I just will do it because I think it is good to try and help.

I have noticed a major mistake in you performing Squats which can end up in damaging your intervertebral discs long term!

For now your beck-bone (hope you know what I mean) blocks when you go down, after that you have no more movement in your lower body anywhere, but you keep going down (with your upper body only) which results in your back moving forward (you basicly only lean forward that point on).
And now that you have to push backwards + up together your back gets alot of stress (which you don't want at all).
If you continue doing it like this your back will get damaged at one point (especially if you up the weights).
I bet, if you are honest with yourself, after that workout the biggest sourness was in your lower back in not in your legs right?

Try to go down straight that all the work is done by your legs (quads mostly).

Suggestions how to fix it:
1. Stretch before Squats! (very important)
2. try to hold your daughter higher (when u higher the point where your holding your daughter your body will straighten up and the point of weight will be more above you and less to the front which will help in not leaning forward)
3. do lower-back and core exercises (like hyper-extensions or deadlift for your lower back (you dont need weights for the movement) and sit-ups or whatever for your abdominals.

I do not mean to critize you, but your intervertebral discs will thank me big-times! :)

best of luck with all your goals!

40,000 HANDS IN MAY

Day 10

Graph says more than words...

Kinda lol because I was looking at a couple of my stats yesterday (fold v 3b, fold v cb and WTSD) and was kinda obvious why my redline sucks so hard.

Today my blueline sucked big time too!

Kinda struggling atm as feel like I am getting exploited (as well as being crap) but maybe it is some variance too.

I did not get any hands to share today as I spent an hour looking to see what my leaks are and trying to figure out why the hell I fold so much!

I forgot to save pic of month so far graph too (tilted?). Graph above is wrong to $5 (the wrong way) so I am down around $35 this month.

Sad.

Other Stuff

Thank the heavens above for other stuff!!!!

I had a class of Wing Chun Kung Fu which was fantastic! We did more counter kicking work and a bit of straight punch defence. Learned loads and LOVED it!

Also my kids got their certificates for passing their Wing Chun gradings (photos on my Facebook - hit me up!).

After that I did a leg workout. I have not got any good equipment to use so I made my own free weights. Hopefully have a fun video to show you over next few days...

Hams, quads and calves are a little bit sore, tomorrow could be worse.

Have a good day amigos. Thanks for reading.

Hi mate!

No, no, no worries at all. In fact I really appreciate the help as I am completely clueless!

I realise that form is possibly the most important part now so I will try hard to improve on that.

Thanks a lot mate, GL.

Edit: I did not get any back pain and the leg muscle pain lasted 7 days but I know the back pain will come if I don't sort this out so thank you again!!! :f_drink:

Was going to stop posting so often as I would get bored reading this ****

BUT. Had a winning day and there ain't been many lately!

Did not play much hours last night as a) I was on duty taking daughter to cricket so started late, b) was knackered as I was up at 5.00 in the morning, b) felt a bit sick (like I might puke), c) wasn't that motivated anyway as confused where the hell I am going pokerwise (note this does not affect my RL happiness).

Yesterday I adjusted some of my preflop ranges as I was folding to 3b too much (tightened some positional opens and loosened some positional calls).

Also I am not 3betting enough again so I just had a look around to see where I am missing out on spots. In position I will 3b more, particularly BU v CO where my 3bet range was way way too tight.

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $5.25 (105 bb)
BB: $3.95 (79 bb)
UTG: $5.41 (108.2 bb)
MP: $3.56 (71.2 bb)
CO: $6.52 (130.4 bb)
Hero (BTN): $5 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 2♠: A♠:
2 folds, CO raises to $0.10, Hero raises to $0.38, 2 folds, CO calls $0.28

Flop: ($0.83) 3♦: A♣: K♥: (2 players)
CO bets $0.40, Hero calls $0.40

Turn: ($1.63) 3♠: (2 players)
CO bets $0.80, Hero calls $0.80

River: ($3.23) 7♥: (2 players)
CO bets $0.80, Hero calls $0.80

Results:

Spoiler

$4.83 pot ($0.20 rake)
Final Board: 3♦: A♣: K♥: 3♠: 7♥:
CO showed K♦: T♣: and lost (-$2.38 net)
Hero showed 2♠: A♠: and won $4.63 ($2.25 net)

What concerns me is why I am not crushing versus these players!

I hardly slept again last night as had some weird pain in my stomach area so I am at work now and feel like falling to sleep!

Anyway, I will go back to posting less often but try and give better content (hands, fitness training and family stuff). Well better content imo of course! :f_drink:

Have a great weekend amigos! Do what you love! :f_love:

Every content is great content dude. Keep posting. Even rambling a little about your feeling and such is part of the bloging process.

I don't answer to everything because I don't feel like I have something great to offer about every bit of thoughts you put into your blog but there can always be someone which has something interesting to say about it, like BadHabit (for the Offspring's song ?) with your fitness training.

Anyway crushing micros is a more tedious process than it might seem, so it's normal to feel somewhat disapointed, keep grinding it up !
