Hi,

another hand from 2.20$ tournament today. This one is a bit on looser side but I had a big stack and wanted to try this new player in a new table. So I 3-bet preflop - maybe a bit smaller but it should be enough for some kind of bluff - yea I know it should be bigger because I will play OOP. But I feel like change sizings a bit sometimes can be good, could do same with AA or KK sometimes. Board with A high and backdoor flush could be good to continue with c-bet so I go for it and try one more shot. Call. Turn is nice we got flush draw. So I think - should I semi-bluff or just let it go. I feel like continue with agression is better, because there is already a lot in pot. So I go for it. And lucky river saves the day . But would you expect him to call with what he had?!?! Do you think my line makes sense, or it is just stupid and I should not do things like that?

I'm no fan for fancy plays in a micro tournament and it's his first raise as well.
If I would 3bet I would make it at least 6bb out of position. Otherwise he get's decent odds to defend in position, but most of the time I would just call to keep the pot small.
You could try to represent an ace on the flop with your bet and if you 3bet pre-flop more you can get it in easier on the turn against him. Off course it's always to represent something if you deal with a player that doesn't like to fold and that could happen often in a $2,20 tournament I think and that makes it tricky to barrel the flop and turn with only K high and a backdoor flush draw.

Well from his perspective he needs like 30% of equity to call on turn, so even though he is in a bad shape against any A which I represent (maybe something like A8s or A5s or 88 i can represent as well), and also against all KK or QQ (which I wouldn't play like that but some fishes do) he still has quite some equity against these kind of hands. If you try it in equilab and I made my range simple like that QQ+,88,A2s+,AQo+ he has 26%. And if you add some bluffs and semi-bluffs like I had call on turn is not bad I think, but preflop call is not great with so shallow stack I think and flop call is bad in my opinion. Also there is not so many better turn cards for him then 8 (just 7 or 6) and some hearts would be equal to 8 or maybe a bit worse (still could have something like Ax of hearts), so it make kind of sense to make turn call when you did flop call.
