Like I mentioned last Wednesday, the coaching on Aug 7 is cancelled. On Aug 14 we'll be back like normal and hopefully stay that way for quite a while this time

Hi, folks.

Is there a thread/post with a comprehensive sequence of steps (which articles to read, which videos to watch, which to train/practice, ranges to play from each position/stage) to go from level -616158 of knowledge on SNG to +1 or +2 and being able to beat the initial micro limits?

I read a couple of sparse posts, but I don't really know from where to start to have a solid foundation.

The SNG Lesson Overview ( https://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/sit-and-go/sng-lesson-overview/) starts at the most basic of basics and goes on from there.

It should get you going -- and you could likely skim the first few sections -- but then all of us could use a refresher now and again..

And are those up-to-date? As far as I recall, we have some outdated articles here on PS (at least for cash).

I'm going to take a guess and say that although they are old, at that basic level, the information is more-or-less timeless.
Things like ICM won't change, for example.

Once you get to the more advanced stuff, you'll need to take the ideas and compare them to what is presented in the coaching sessions.

I'd be interested in hearing Collin's opinion of the strategy articles, and I'll ask him during the next session.

I've asked a similar question in the past, and it has been pointed out to me that ICM is considered mostly obsolete by now and has been replaced by FGS (Future Game Simulations). That being said, many ICM concepts kind of carry over to FGS, if my understanding is correct, so learning it is not entirely wrong.

I believe FGS can more or less be considered the updated version of ICM. Yet again, I could be wrong, and I am looking forward to Collin's reply.

If you are new to poker and you want to build a solid foundations about SNGs, our articles are the way to start.

Harrier, I wouldn't say that ICM is obsolete, but you're right that FGS (which still incorporates ICM) is very important in a lot of short-stacked spots.

This week on the coaching ... 15-30bb play! We're going to look at hands with an effective stack between 15-30bb to see the optimal line with an SNG focus and lots of MTT examples as well.
