AA - raise on the flop

I think betting half pot here and folding to a raise is fine.

You mostly see sets, two pairs and a big combo draw like A♠:7♠: and against that you´re crushed.

If the rival is weak, he is not going to bluff you with A♥:7♣: and is unlikely he had big pocket pairs here.

If he was another board texture I might do a calldown with AA if there are no cards that complete the flush or the straight.

I´ve heard from other coaches that they prefer to check/call Aces here and do a similar move on the turn if no nasty card comes.

I haven´t tried it myself tough.

On this board Villain has the nut advantage, and you are OOP. So I would start by checking.
You have the re-draw to the flush which is good. Would x/c at probably twice depending on runouts. Wouldn't x/r because then you turn a SD value hand into a bluff.
Also, I would play with a full stack, always. (...all that being said, I am just trying to make it on NL5 ATM, and commenting for my own learning progress)

Pre-flop I would start with a 100bb stack. Normally I would raise 3x from UTG or you deal with passive villains on the table.

Flop it depends on the villain if I would check/call or Cbet/fold. Against a passive villain I prefer the 2nd option, because I want to get some value and protect my hand.

I've never considered checking on these types of flops (unless up against very aggro opponent), its always in my mind that I don't to give villain a free card if he is drawing. But I think my line of thinking is weak tbh. I struggle adjusting to passive players, give me a maniac all day. Thanks for replies, I folded flop.

Side note, I can't top up to full stack unless my stack drops below 19, so from 18.90 or 18.99 then I can do it, the software is like that for some reason. Also there is no auto top up but there is a auto rebuy...

I agree with SDK always have stack topped off, you want to be able to win MAX $$ when you have the best hand. switch the setting for top off is my suggestion

As for the hand: I call boards like this a "CODE RED" board..... basically the reason for that is so that it slows me down.. there is a massive amount of hands that can beat me and that will beat me dependent on the run out. There are about half the deck you don't want to see come. I would check the flop- and call. then see what card comes on turn and check again..

the reason for the check call is the same reason I said above, 20 cards you don't want to seem you almost have a bluff caughter on the flop with AA, its sucks but happens unfortunately..

I get what you saying, even if he calls my cbet and another low card comes I won't know where I stand. I like that Code Red, going to remember that for next time I am on a similar board.

But this is player dependant right? Against tighter passive players I see why check call is better, but if this was a maniac I would stick my AA so far down his throat he'll be shitting top pair weak kickers whole week.
