1/3 pot on the river for some thin value targeting a 9,6 or 4.

A thin value bet seems fine. off course if you face a decent raise you need to prepare yourself to fold the hand.

i think you don't have the odds to check/call the flop, i would check/fold. as played you can bet small i guess on river but what will call? do you really think even 9x will call? so maybe just check/fold river even...

I just realized misread this, thinking it was a double-gutshot, but it is only a regular gutshot, so yeah folding the flop would be fine.

I figured other pairs like A9 A6 etc -- even AK or AJ hands might "bluff-catch"

i think he never calls just Ace high on that river, unless you bet like 1bb :)

OTR you can bet 25-40% pot and still getting called by worst. On raise it is clear fold. If checked by you and villain bets, you are supposed to call up to same amount (up to almost 50%) pot bet. So it is roughly same EV and it is up to you what you feel it is better on the particular villain.

Btw.. I am XR OTF anyway. Much more fun

well it depends on the player, but on this river case it looks to me that we are either beat or not getting called by worst. it is quite scary river for lower pairs. haha yes cr flop and cr turn with ini

That's interesting! What would your further line be in case the guy just calls the flop raise?

On Qc I am checking after raising OTF and giving up if he wakes up. Any spade or ten OTT Im cbeting 30% and then overbetting OTR when some brick card like 2h comes or cbetting OTR like 30% again when I hit the backdoor flush.

In this hand I bet more than 1/2 pot (can't remember 2/3 or 3/4) and he folded.
With the possible made flushes and straights, I thought maybe a better pair might fold.

Is that just wishful thinking?

There are no flushes possible. Better X, and let them bluff and call the missed flush bluff. Only better pair is Qx and that is not folding on missed flush board ever. But still you can get value from 6x,9x or mised flush Ax sometimes by betting small. Betting big here is mistake I think.

I am x/c river up to about 2/3pot. Pretty much played as a bluff catcher and that’s it.

Yeah, I read the hand wrong when discussing it.

So it looks like the consensus is x/c -- I presume that the "call" part doesn't include calling shoves.

I'm still a bit surprised that the aggression level represented in the comments, but I'll keep it in mind.

I personally like a 1/3 pot bet on the river, villain could have missed draws but he could also have a weaker pair, would suck to check it through and see them holding a weaker pair. If I thought villain was capable of betting river when checked to as a bluff I might check but I like to bet out myself in these spots without reads.

I like to check-raise these spots on the flop where I most likely have the nut advantage because its puts a ton of pressure on your opponents, and your doing it with draws not just complete junk, you have a gut-shot with an over-card to the board. If you barrel all 3 streets here your opponent has to fold mostly their entire range by the river.
