UPDATE:

I've probably played about 10 tournaments since the last update

I've suddenly found the urge to play again and because I cannot play on GGPoker, hate PokerStars for historical reasons and don't rate Partypoker in the slightest it's iPoker for me!

Will give some of the Bounty Hunter Series a go - although the buy-ins are a bit steeper than I like!

I give it a week or 10 days before I disappear again into the ether for another 18 months!

In 2020, I made a really big life choice in changing jobs.

After 20 years in Retail, I switched to the online world and started working in the online poker industry. (If you know, you know)

Anywho, going from a job where I was guaranteed to be active (10K steps per day) to an office job where if I did 1000 a day I'd be doing well, has taken its toll on my physique. Now, that's not an excuse - I was already a fat bastard anyways!

In 2023 (mid-January) I decided to take things into my own hands and take some responsibility.

I bought an exercise bike and started counting my calorie intake.

Using various websites I formulated what I believed was a decent plan. However, instead of flying ahead with my idea, I visited my GP for a check-up and to talk through my plans with him and to ensure my thought process was good to go.

I started calorie counting on the 12th of January but my first official weigh-in wasn't until the 22nd (I did not have access to a working scale)

Jan 22nd weight: 15 stone 13 and 1/4 lbs (223.25 lbs)

I turn 40 at the end of September 2024 and my goal weight was 12 stone (168lbs)

I've since seen that 12 stone is still overweight so the new goal is 11 stone, 7 lbs (161 lbs)

How do I plan to get there?
Average calorie intake of 1,500 per day across each month
Cycle - 25km per day average across each month

Limits:
Calorie intake for male of my height and age = 2,200
1km on bike at speed 35km/h = 15 calories lost

Daily:
Calories = 2,200 + 375 = 2,575
Food deficit: 1,500
Deficit = 1,000 (average)

Results so far:
Jan 22nd: 15 stone 13.25 lbs
Feb 1st: 15 stone, 9 lbs
Feb 15th: 14 stone 13.75 lbs

February goals:

[ ] Avg Daily Cal deficit: 1,000
[ ] 28,000 Cal deficit
[X] 2km speed run (bike) in less than 2m 55s - completed in 2m 46!
[X] 3km speed run (bike) in less than 4m 20s - completed in 4m 01s!
[X] Lose 9lbs - completed
[ ] Lose 12lbs - updated because I completed 9lbs!
[ ] Cycle 650km - currently over 400km
[ ] Avg Daily Cal intake - 1,500

13 days of February to go!

Good luck with you're goal :gl:
I'm not to familiar with lbs and stone as weight, but I use KG.
If google is accurate 113,25 lbs is a little bit more than 101KG.
It would be great if you could reach the goal of 71 KG (161 lbs).

You'll have to explain the hieroglyphics to me, sir, I'm not that bright?

Thanks for the GL - I think this is very doable, even by the end of this year - if my Maths hold up.

I think Sven was just making a point that those were some exotic weight units. :f_grin:

If you still look anything like back when you were streaming, I'd say you're completely fine.

Oh, and I'm currently aiming for 100 kg. :f_biggrin: When I weighed myself the other day, I think it said 91 kg (I guess that's around 200 lbs?), and I thought that was way too little.

Of course, I should put on muscles, not fat. I would love to start a new exercise and sports program, but at least this week, I have a fair excuse not to, with my little sickness and all.

You´re not the only one, who is dieting. But I don´t have a scale, and I don´t care how much I weigh, I go for body fat percentage. At the moment I got about 21 % body fat, which I would like to lower to maximum 18 %. Would love to have visible abs and need to loose a bit body fat for the upcoming outdoor tennis season. Hereby, I go for low carb and calorie restriction. Mainly it´s all about the calories, but low carb diets make you feel less hungry. Proteins and fat quickly make you feel full and satisfied, that´s why I mainy go for fat & protein and of course lots and lots of veggies. _biggrin:_thumbsup:

So, just cut down the carbs and you will feel less hungry while dieting. _thumbsup:

You only got to see my head, definitely put on weight since then!

I'm not worrying too much about the macros/micros

Just weight and weight only!

I wouldn't say I'm dieting per se, actually.

I'm just eating less. I still eat chocolate, carbs and all the good stuff, just in moderation.

My BMI was in the "extremely obese" category.

Goal is to be in the "healthy" category when I reach my desired weight.

Now that I've reached the first milestone of being under 15 stone (210 lbs / 95kg) I will not weigh myself again until March 1st.

FWIW my diet consists of roughly

Breakfast 300-350

Lunch 300-450

Dinner 400-800

Snacks to make it to 1,500 if necessary.

I could theoretically have days where cal intake is substantially less than 1,500 but doc recommended to keep it at that level or else my body wouldn't like it!

If you go below 1.500 kcal, your metabolism rate will slow down significantly, you burn less fat. So, do not below 1.500. And don´t forget to exercise! Anyway, I don´t remember you as "fat b@st@rd", you looked very normal when I saw you last time on stream.

Yes, thats exactly what the doc said. I'm usually hitting the 1.5K mark without the nice chocolate bar but sometimes it's good to treat yourself!

Exercise was the one thing missing.

I do like walking but living in Ireland is miserable (its always raining!) and I dislike getting wet and muddy.

The bike has been a breath of fresh air... I don't have to leave the house and I can cycle away while on breaks or in the evening watching TV

I've cycled 40K today and will likely throw in another 10 for good measure after dinner!

With all this said, my preference would clearly be to do a 40k bicycle session and not stop my 2 German Bratwursts for dinner... (or turn it into 1 + salad)
