Are you raising in MP with ATo. I think this is a good hand to steal only in button. In SSS strategy, is push or fold. We only make call using odds.

If so, I don't agree. Odds have nothing to do with this situation as all cards are out. The only reason to push here is if I am justified in thinking I'm ahead. I create no fold equity by pushing. I simply win or loose a few extra BB depending on whether I have the better hand.

AT is a slightly loose hand to raise in mp, you are right. But that's a different issue, I think.

the thing is that you have so few BBs left, that you must think in terms of push or fold. Saving up a couple of BBs doesn't make much sense. If you think that investing $7 on this spot is profitable, then investing another $2.5 must be profitable just the same, since the odds you get for $7 are nearly the same you get for $9.5 in this spot. Otherwise it's a fold.

Instictively I feel you are right, but it's hard to get my head around this. If we think that our hand is so good that we are comitted to call based on pot odds (and from people's comments this appears to be the case here) then we call. But can't we decide not to invest more money than necessary in a situation where we might be behind?

Effectively isn't flat calling as opposed to pushing a form of pot control? I know it's only $2.5 more but $2.5 saved is $2.5 earned, isn't it?

As I say, I know I'm wrong because everyone's agrees that I should have pushed the river; I just can't quite see why. Maybe it's because I know what villain's cards were. If anyone wants to take one more stab at explaining it to me - such a stubborn idiot - I would be thankful.

So we loose the extra 3bb in around 30% &
win the extra 3bb in 70% of all times.

You call using odds in flop and turn. In river you have a made hand. Go all-in.
