Sick session lenght... for rush. I mean I did a 8h session of HU between saturday and sunday but can't even think about playing same time of rush. I don't think that my mouse would be in one piece after 8h of quick folding :f_biggrin:. Pretty nice rb, I suppose? :f_cool:

yeah, I was down only 2$ for the day after RB (down 88$ or so at the tables, raked a little over 300$ iirc)

you should try table ninja, it really helps put in a lot of hands.. I have fold / quick fold / check mapped to the right mouse button, so I just have to hover over the table, right-click, and move on to the next one. probably wouldn't be able to 4-table without it :)

@ TT: tyty.
I feel my stamina is getting much better. I just slept 4h (till noon) + 2x 20mins yesterday, but still I had to force myself to go to bed at 6:30..whereas I used to be completely dead halfway through the day if I hadn't slept 7h+.
If I actually have the discipline to wake up early, unlike today (just woke up at 15:40..-.-) I could actually get in 8k hands/day and still have loads of time for other things. One more objective for the next few weeks :)

meh, i'm a little ill these days, and I haven't been in a-game shape, so there isn't much else to do than eat chocolate and drink hot milk w/ honey all day.

it's. AWESOME.

I got access to CR videos, so I'm concentrating on theory, school work and just generally doing nothing. So expect some updates on my transition to FR in the next couple days :)

that is all

I just had a major reminiscing / nostalgia moment the other day. I was looking for something in my backups, and I came across old graphs and stats from 1-2 years ago. Back in the day when I was a reg at party nl200, making some decent moniez and discussing the game regularly with sonicXT, chinny and all the other "old" forum people... great memories :) Anyway, seeing all that, especially my then-almost-lifetime graph with 25k+ profit, and my shots at mid-stakes, really motivated me to study as much as possible, and improve my game, so I can get back to crushing _grin:

Alright, so I watched citizenwind's 1st vid on CR (see RahXephon's post above), and I have to agree that it sucks. he's way too tight, and actually I stopped watching when he didn't cbet 88 on T86s. So I just saw 20mins, but all in all it felt like he was teaching how to be a weak reg, rather than actually be ahead of the curve and truly beat the game. I downloaded the 2 vids by the other coaches (forgot the names), so I'll check those out. But I'll do most of the work on my own, trying to find spots where I can improve, and eventually get some private coaching before/while I move up to nl100.

So far, I've played 6k hands of FR. Most importantly, 2 sessions today after studying the game a little. The first one I felt went pretty well. I played 1400 hands:

There was obviously some run-good in the red line, and a lot of it is probably due to me still being unknown to most regs. I played 16/13 with 4.1% 3b.

Here I played pretty much the same, except with a lower AF% (26 vs 35), and stealing slightly less, mostly on the button (42 vs 51%).
btw the big up is winning KK vs AA and AA vs AK, and the big down is losing a preflop all-in with AA vs KK, 190bb deep, like 30 seconds later. Hello, karma!

The first dip in the red line was really just running bad , and I suppose the rest is closer to what I'd "normally" lose.
However, I can improve on that. I never really played FR before, so my knowledge of ranges, especially preflop, is very limited. But my general observations so far are that most regs are *way* too nitty, and will just try to make a "smart" fold and move on to the next hand rather than try to squeeze a little extra value out of every possible spot (which seems to be the general mindset on SH, making it pretty tough).
Anyhoo, steal success is über high, especially on the SB (90% steal success on SB, omgwtfroflmao). Even on the CO and BU, I can most likely open up quite a bit more than I do currently, and still be profitable.

The main points I have to work on are:

  • preflop ranges of fish and nitty regs (limping, opening, 3-betting..everything)
  • postflop aggression, especially 2nd/3rd barrels. I barreled too much against strong hands imo. This is closely tied to a), since a good knowledge of PF ranges will let me know when I can barrel profitably
  • Not playing automatically! I do this way too much most times, but now that I'm starting out, it's especially important that I pay close attention to every hand I play, to know if there's any value I'm missing out on, anywhere. Be it opening different hands, or barelling a certain kind of flop, I have to be sure to take in as much info as possible.

On a side note, it's 8:30 am here, and the sun is rising over the mountains, it's a very nice sight :) It may sound weird, but I'm kinda looking forward to getting up at the ass-crack of dawn every day and work my ass off for uni -- but actually do something more fulfilling than playing poker. Just writing this down so I remember it when I'm overworked, under-motivated and unable to play ^^

Oh and I probably won't play much poker this week-end, as I've got two big nights lined up. Big annual celebration in the town 5mins away, so there'll be lots of friends, and lots of boose :f_love:

will update again soon (about poker)

good god, what have i done..

Dear PSers, if I can give you but one piece of advice, let it be this one:
DON'T MAKE PROP BETS WHILE DRUNK.

If I don't get 5.0+ in 1st year, I'm going to have to run 2 laps around the local running track, naked.

fuck.

UPDATE TIME! :f_love:

I played a bunch of 11$ Lamborghini freeroll sub-qualifiers on stars these past few days. I started off losing 10-12 of them, including a couple bubbles, which was pretty annoying. I did finally manage to place 3rd/123 (top 27 qualify) and cashed 250$ + ticket last Thursday (go me!) -- and I went on to place ~170/7.5k in the weekly qualifier, so I'm qualified for the final..sometime early October ! yay :f_cool: (wish me luck on winning the lambo, I could do with a $200k supercar).
Aside from that, I might play a €1.2k live tourney next week, but that's about all, concerning MTTs. So, on to rush :)

Rush FR update

So far, I've played almost 16k hands of FR rush nl50. For some reason, although I was just a beginner at this specific game, I thought it was wise to play 3-4 tables automatically.

Mistake.

So after these 10k hands, I opened up HEM to analyse stats, talked a little strat with others, and watched a video: sixpeppers' one, this time. He's super aggressive both preflop and postflop, constantly raising with marginal hands or complete bluffs -- and it works. Regs at FR are just way too easy to push off hands. I sort of knew this already, because I found bluffs way easier than at SH, but it turns out it's even more lucrative than I thought. They'll pretty much fold anything less than overpairs just cause they can't be bothered to fight for the pot, or maybe because they're too busy quick-folding to the next hand.

So I experimented a little on becoming more aggressive, and here's how it went:

Pretty good if you ask me :)

Stats-wise, my VPIP and PFR are actually the same as before. The difference is, I'm tighter OOP (I learnt not to raise 22 UTG), but I'm stealing roughly 40% more than before, with the same success rate. I'm betting that's where almost all my winnings are coming from. Other than that, I'm bluff-raising way more post-flop, which wins me the occasional extra pot (which contributes to the large single ups in the red line, but also some downs in the blue one).

I feel I can still improve though, as I sometimes completely misjudge ranges. I'm also not adjusting much to tight regs 3-betting; I can't quite judge whether a reg is playing back at me or if they're just part of the majority which don't adjust -- so I don't get out of line much against 3- and 4-bets. I can also improve a bit post-flop, mostly in standard FR situations, like how to best play medium/strong hands, especially multiway.

---

I wish I could say the reason I've only played 5k hands in the past 5 days is because I was being productive, but I've pretty much spent my time watching The Office or playing the battle for wesnoth. Because of that, I'm forced to take the next few days off of poker just to study. I start next Tuesday, and I've still got all of linear algebra, plus a good part of calculus, to revise. Oh and some physics too. yay.

Anyhoo, there probably won't be any regular updates for a while, at least until I start shooting for NL100 (which will take a while, since I just cashed out quite a lot), but any comments are always welcome :)
Also, if anyone wants to do a couple sweat sessions one of these days, I'd definitely be up for it, just leave your skype address here!
