That's a decent difference.
I'm actually using Bitcoin Core v0.20.1.0-g7ff64311bee570874c4f0dfa18f518552188df08.
From what I read from achow101 blogpost, Bitcoin Core made some major changes, and among others, there is the descriptor wallets and the sqlite3 database.
How should I proceed to avoid having to re-download the entire blockchain and redinex it all again? I can't just compile the new version and use the same folder, can I?
And I want to start using sqlite3 and the new wallets.
Hi Merlinious,
I'm not sure what you're actually talking about -- is this a miner?
From their main page:
Check your bandwidth and spaceBitcoin Core initial synchronization will take time and download a lot of data. You should make sure that you have enough bandwidth and storage for the full block chain size (over 350GB). If you have a good Internet connection, you can help strengthen the network by keeping your PC running with Bitcoin Core and port 8333 open. Read the full node guide for details.
I could do this, since I have an 8TB external drive, but unless it is going to provide value greater than the increased power cost, I won't bother
Hi, I just started a BTC channel and made some price analysis - feedback would be super appreciated!
Hi,
I'm thinking investing in crypto as well in the next few months. Just need some time to do my research proper.
Can smbdy recommend me a good platform for beginners, something that you can have an easy access to your funds and u can spend it easy as well in the same time.
I was thinking about Revolut is it good for beginners? like we are talking micro investments something like 1-2K max.
Aaand I'm not ready yet with my research, but since the idea got in my head I'm thinking of Ethereum mostly, cuz I've got the feeling of them NFTs are gonna be quite a boom in the next years ....
Am I starting my idea from the right point, anyone with experience?

Kraken is IMO one of the most secure, easiest to use and inexpensive crypto exchanges. Great fiat on/off ramps as well, have used mostly just them for the past few years.
Ether is probably a good bet, but personally would definitely recommend allocating at least 25-50% of the portfolio into Bitcoin as well.
NFT's are an interesting idea, but I feel like the sector has already gone through an initial bubble phase so returns in the next few years may not be as high for related projects.
Bitcoin is definitely a "safer" investment that should weather the bear market phases a lot better as well, if you are looking into this long-term (which you should... patience is always the key in this market IMO)
That all being said, good luck on your journey and remember to HODL

LMAO
I had to look that up...
As you cannot trade crypto on IG any longer, are there any alternatives to gaining exposure to this market? A friend uses Binance, but terrible reviews on Trust Pilot, same for coinbase. Was wondering about revolut, but are fees excessive? Thanks.
So in case anybody didn't notice, a week ago a huge milestone for Bitcoin was achieved when El Salvador announced that they will adopt Bitcoin as legal tender: Reuters link

My personal preference in most instances is Kraken
I'll have a look at Kraken -- thanks for that
I have a small amount of ₿ but don't really use it.
Life has been just too busy lately.
I do have a few poker sites that accept it, but I don't play at them much

Historically, the best strategy with BTC has been just holding it (and accumulating if possible). Not daytrading, not trying to pick altcoins to outperform, not opening leveraged positions. So far, all throughout BTC history coins that were bought 4+ years ago have ended up in profit.
Taking the passive approach is seemingly the easiest, but a lot of newbies end up with the urge to gamble with altcoins and usually get burnt. Also, taking this approach requires not forgetting about your BTC investment and where you are storing it...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/06/17/world-bank-bitcoin-el-salvador//blockquote >On the "What Bitcoin Did" podcast hosted by Peter McCormack, when asked about the fact both IMF and the World Bank don't want to help El Salvador making BTC legal tender, president Bukele noted that they hadn't been "much help anyway" and that they don't really need the help either, since there are enough experts locally and the new law is likely going to attract foreign Bitcoin companies and enthusiasts as well.
Will be interesting to see how this is going to work out, personally I was quite impressed with Bukele's understanding of the Bitcoin network and his conviction in that being the right decision for his country. Since then, they have also announced a $30 BTC airdrop to every adult citizen who download's the government's Chivo wallet and verifies their identity (CoinDesk link). The law is set to go into effect September 7th.
Here's the interview with Bukele:
What a great way to keep tabs on citizens' finances!
Give 'em all 30 bucks to sign up to a tracker.
Since it is an interview, I'll listen to it while playing later today.
I heard also that someone was dead and had more than 1 billion in cryprocurrency.
Not sure if relatives can used the money now.

Sadly. That's a lot going to the bin.
