I can't blame you...
I remember that at the time this commercial was on, my mother showed me an ordinary fish knife, and I thought it was an unlicensed Nutella spreader.
As a result, me and my brother were using fish knives to spread our Nutella throughout all of the late 90's, for no reason at all, other than the fact that Boris Becker licked a knife on TV... 
By the way, subsequent commercials successfully tried to avoid controversy by having the celebrity wipe the Nutella off their knife with one finger, and then licking their finger clean. Now that's progress...
