I had Kraft macaroni and cheese for supper last night -- the height of laziness.

We´re having Bratwurst (organic of course!), home made mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and salad (mussgo). And I´m baking a yummy apple-cake which is Homers favorite.

And we were on a nice bike tour and I´m sure everybody cares, whether I came back with a flat tire or not? The answer is: NO! No flat tire this time. :f_ugly:

Oh, one more thing: It is important to mention that the eggs which were used for the cake were mussgo! :f_ugly:

I once ate some eggs that had a best-before date of November.
So what?

Spoiler

It was July
They had been in the fridge the whole time, and looked and smelled OK

Vorpal, you can put the eggs into a bowl of water: If they sink, they´re still good, if they swim, throw them away. :f_thumbsup:

Maggi Mussgoes, Episode 2: Indian Chicken Curry - Tikka Masala
Expired 06/2020

I normally love Indian cuisine, and chicken tikka masala is high up there, but I did not make this one all that much before. The main reason is that it requires 50g of yogurt, which is obviously sold in higher amounts, and I have literally no other use for it, not to mention that it goes bad quickly after opening it. This time, however, I was able to get my hands on some leftovers, so we could even knock another mussgo off our list. :f_grin:

We start by frying some chicken and onions.

Add some tomato paste, some water, and some Maggi magic.

At that point, I was off to pick up the rice that I was cooking downstairs (because that's where the rice cooker was) for a minute or so. When I returned, I noticed that my pan was almost burning, and I had to quickly take it off the heat. Luckily, the damage was minor, looks like I returned just in time.

Now all I had to do was to add some of that yogurt...

... and serve it with that basmati rice that almost resulted in disaster.

For a more authentic Indian presentation, I guess I should have served both the rice and the chicken in two separate bowls, but it's all right. :f_grin:

It was still good, despite the slight overcooking.

I would like to try that.
I'm sure I've had it at some buffet or other, but can't remember NARF!

A Favourite here is Butter Chicken.
Anything Korma is another popular dish.
Here you can buy the sauces in jars.

I prepare sauces myself. Tastes so much better! :f_tongue:

Agreed -- see my previous post about lazy.
Plain old curry I can do from scratch -- most of the rest I don't have the ingredients

Harrier's Burgeria/Maggi Mussgoes, Episode 3: Tex-Mex Burgers
Expired 06/2020

As someone who likes both burgers and Mexican food, I've made this one a bunch of times already, in a few variations, and also posted about it a couple of times here. For this episode, I decided to come up with a new one that I haven't tried before.

But first, let's cook the burgers. The only time where Maggi comes in is right at the beginning, where we are going to mix that seasoning in with our 400g of meat. The package actually recommends 300g, but I always used 400g to make a fourth patty, it works nicely. There's our big seasoned lump of meat:

Now I'll bring out my handy patty maker to make four patties out of it.

Then we will cook them like normally, which gives us time to prepare the rest.

The package recommends serving those burgers topped with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise, but as I said before, I had a different idea. Instead, I got myself some of those doppeldecker buns and turned those things into Mexican style Big Macs. :f_thumbsup:

The order of ingredients remains the same as in the McDonald's version (bottom bun, sauce, onions, lettuce, cheese, patty, middle bun, sauce, onions, lettuce, pickle slices, patty, top bun), except that the special Big Mac sauce is substituted with salsa, and we use jalapeño slices instead of pickle slices.

DId you know that the name Mac (as well as the Mc- prefix in certain surnames) is derived from the old Irish word for "son"? Therefore, I would call this mussgo burger creation "Hijo Grande", in analogy to the Big Mac.

As usual with those Big Mac copycats that use decently sized patties, it was quite messy to eat, but good stuff. :f_thumbsup:

Had just a soup for lunch and a lot of dessert :f_ugly: for dinner we had bare Schnitzel with rice, cucumber salad and red beet salad with egg.

It was indeed a bit of a challenge. But the worst ones yet were definitely the vegetarian Big Macs I made with those vegan patties, which are pretty firm. Now those were pretty much impossible to eat as intended.

Quietly, and without any fuss, we passed 11 hours of daylight yesterday.
Still over 5 hours to go to the longest day

Today, I´m really positively surprised! It´s vegan Tuesday and I decided to try some vegan Bratwurst from "Rügenwalder" (a German label).

They don´t look good, but they really did taste good:

I eat it with glutenfree bread (from the label "Schär") and mustard, besides I made yummy vegan salami sandwiches, and again: positively surprised! That stuff really tasted like real salami.
