Good plan.
It takes a lot of time and effort to look after wild animals.

We have a rabbit that lives in the bushes by our house.
Last night it paid a visit to the front lawn.
It didn't seem fearful at all...
So long you keep up the distance and not making to much noise. Otherwise he/she would run away for sure I think.
Feral dogs used to be a huge problem in urban areas -- they ran in packs and made for some interesting moments when lone people would encounter a pack.
Strict animal control laws made that problem history.
Well I'm still not convinced a boa constrictor is a suitable playmate for a small child...
On the other hand, squirrels are a lot of fun...
I have never had a relationship with a squirrel.
Well there was this girlfriend once... 
It is about that time of year when I start to put the bird feeders out.
This year I will use squirrel-proof bird feeders, but I will also put out one for the squirrels.
The only ravens I have heard in the wild had a higher pitched sound.
Perhaps there is a difference between North American ravens and European ravens
