There are a lot of animals that people keep just to look at. Goldfish come to mind. You can't have much of a relationship with a fish, but they're fascinating to watch.
My niece has a pair of bearded dragons, and a pair of turtles.
They wouldn't be my first choices of animals to keep, they're quite interesting.
Well this thread has gone far away from it's original topic, since most of these aren't pets, but I keep finding cool animal videos.
There is a crow that comes to visit our deck fairly frequently. Our neighbour says the the crow will say "hello" -- I'll let you know if this happens.
What a friendly hummingbird that was. Though it seems he's well-fed that's why he's so friendly.

I am also very friendly when I'm well fed
As I mentioned, we have flickers at our house that do the same thing on our drainpipes
I usually get up when it starts, but Mrs Vorpal puts earplugs in and tries to fight it.
