I used to play back in the day 2004-2007 on partypoker and then pokerstars from 2007 until the yanks stopped in 2011. I used to play Full Ring fixed limit but they are no longer around so now i am adapting to 6 max fixed limit and it is not easy after being a full ring TAG so changing to a softer game.
I started then at 0.5/1 and played mostly 1/2 with some play at 2/4,3/6 and 5/10 playing 1m-1.2m hands.
I am now starting afresh as this is a new game and starting at 2c/4c as of now have played 10,384 hands at a win rate of 0.98BB/100, i intend to play at least 100k hands this year at this level and some free tourney tickets in too. I want to get my bankroll off so i am freerolling i will move up to 5c/10c when i have my bankroll off and 1250BB for the new level.
I could do with some help and suggestions on how to critique my pokertracker stats though, as this is a blog i will try and post here each day on how i am doing, thanks all and good luck at the tables except against me of course.
Well today was a good day at the tables in total i have now played 10,767 hands at a win rate of 1.30BB/100 which meant over the last 383 hands i won 10BB/100 maybe i was running hot, i also cashed in a hyper shootout for a small cash sum getting the only cash prize in 4th place.
At the end of each month i will give a fuller picture of how the month has gone but i am having to pay more attention to seat selection and trying to stay away from aggro players and finding the fish this will lead to less hands played but should be +EV.
The biggest problem with 6 max will be handling the variance esp as you move up but lets hope i can deal with it.
So lets see what tomorrow brings.
Well today was another winning day playing 385 hands at a win rate of 2.66BB/100, which puts my run rate at 1.35BB/100 after 11,152 hands, I was having a bad day for most of the time but all came good in the end and what I noticed on my stats was that I was profitable on the day out of the blinds and that sill holds over the last 5 days too, so I must be doing something right.
My total profit on the day was down to one hand towards the end when I hit a set in a 5 way pot out of the BB. I am going to download the ICM tool for tourneys so that I can improve in that area too. I am a total of 150BB up for this level so far.
Well folks I am off to do more fishing lol.
I cannot use the ICM tool as adobe flash player is not supported in the uk so I have deleted this from my pc
Thanks Visionboard but today was a negative day it started with a tough table and it did not get any easier AA beat by T5o for instance and a few maniacs about, I had to do some adjusting to starting hands on some tables too. Anyway I lost 65c today for 505 hands and my win rate is now 1.15BB/100 after 11,657 hands. I have had 5 winning days in a row so I guess I was due a bad day, normal variance I guess and its worse when you know its coming.
Lets hope for better tomorrow.
from 6max target HU (heads-up)even, there isn't much content on Pokerstrategy about FL HU for beginners, but there is in other places... mastering HU is incredibly important for higher winrate. up to 5/10 you need to crush the opponent for more than 5BB/100 though in HU cause the rake is high... but when you have mastered HU to some degree you can tablestart etc in 6max aiming for HU.. the thing with Fixed Limit though is, it is removed from many cardrooms nowadays ♦
Hi all and back to winning ways today 3.24BB/100 for only 293 hands making my run rate 1.20BB/100 for 11,950 hands played. Yes it would be good to know what is the situation on other sites for Fixed Limit weather 6 max or full ring. I am doing ok with tickets for sit n go or step tickets I have around 13 or so to use up. Yahto what games are you playing and where?
Going to play a couple of 16 man sit n go with a couple of tickets as its a bank holiday.
Today was a real mixed day long periods of not good cards and then ending with a flourish, I played 340 hands for a win rate of 9.12BB/100 today and this makes my run rate 1.42BB/100 for 12,290 hands played. I got pocket KK in BB and hit a set on flop and beat AA feels good when that happens, no good in 16 man sit n go though. I think it might be time to see if I can find any videos on HU play. Taavi1337 any ideas on where to look for HU stuff.
i think you need "beginner's fl hu", it was there on a paid rival coaching site like 12 years ago, but like 2 years ago when i visited that again they had removed the beginners' content. i can't give the whole teaching in few sentences because it was hours of actual gameplay+comments, but the basics is, "play only against very big fish who don't raise", every time someone raises pre, quit. this is because the rake is quite high and you need to crush the opponent. there are other important things, such as pair holding very high value, and Ax... looks you are also working on mindset stuff so some of that content is a bit high anyway maybe. i don't know. but hu is surprisingly rewarding, educative and fun.
Thanks Taavi1337 I did look at some HU stuff videos on here which are very informative and you are right look for fish and avoid aggro guys. The videos I saw on Hu are under other games and are old but still well worth viewing.
Well today was a very mixed day indeed I started well and then went down and down and then back to almost even then finished badly. So I lost 123c for -6.93BB/100 and 444 hands played which now makes my run rate 1.13BB/100 for 12,734 hands played in total. But the day was night quite over I played 2 16 man sit n go's and got a small cash in one of them so I ended up in profit after all for the day.
Seems like that should be the plan if I have a losing day play with some free tourney tickets to try and turn a profit.
Another bad losing day today after 713 hands played, down 193c which is -6.77BB/100 and 79BB for the last 2 days ouch, this takes my win rate to 0.71BB/100 for 13,447 hands. Went and played a couple of sit n go and won a couple of better tickets. There will not be much play tomorrow as stars are doing maintenance, maybe I will do better after they fixed things lol.
I will switch off tomorrow and do gaming and play on night time so I will not report back here until end of month which will be 31st May and a monthly rundown/update.
Not much play today as stars were doing maintenance, but 83 hands is all I played, but I looked at some hands from previous day and also found I was not using the pre flop charts correctly. Anyway I turned a profit of 31c in which is 9.34BB/100 and this brings my win rate to 0.76BB/100 for 13,530 hands played.
I will post a bigger blog tomorrow as I will be reviewing May as a whole.
I played 481 hands today at a win rate 1.20BB/100 would have been more but a maniac came and destroyed my gains today, this takes my win rate to 0.78BB/100 for 14,011 hands and just over 400 hands a day for the 35 days I played so far.
So what was May like, on the whole I played 12,597 hands at a win rate of 0.66BB/100 which equates to $3.32+$3.29 (loyalty) = $6.61, added to What I got in April $1.03 means I am up $7.64 so far. I had 6 bad down days and 4 other down days, 7 good up days and 14 other up days. I also have 10 tourney tickets still to use that have a value of $13.50 but until I turn that into cash they are not worth much.
I was using the wrong pre flop charts and did not realise until half way through the month but they are not very clear or easy to follow especially around raisers and callers I think the charts need looking at again.
I have also re-thought my long term strategy out again and I have decided to move up when I have my initial deposit off and 1000 BB for the next level and instead use a 200BB buffer for moving down this seems more sensible and I will be able to move up sooner.
I see myself playing a min 100k hands before moving up so a little way off yet but means I can learn while not costing me anything and it is not like the sites are busy, I wish there were more players.
My luck bell curve is interesting I am extremely unlucky with flush's and below par with hitting sets but better with str8's, also I am way behind with the amount of AA I am supposed to get for hands played I should have seen 66 pairs but only had 51.
My VPIP is 22 and PFR 19 does anyone know what they ought to look like? What sort of loss rate is normal in blinds? Hands won stands at 16% not sure how good this is.
Although I want to play more than 400 hands a day in June I am having decorating done at some point so only looks like I can get 12k hands in for June roughly. I am enjoying playing but the down days are a bummer. I am going to play in a tourney each sat and sun night with the tickets I have, these are to get seats in higher tourneys.
Well the first day of the month got off to a good start but maniacs seem to be damaging my win rate after being up most of the day I ended down 1c for 238 hands taking my running win rate to 0.76BB/100 for 14,249 hands played. I did play a 16 man sit n go and won which got me a seat and ticket for $11 I am going to try and get 2,3 or even 4 this month if I can. Another highlight of the day was that I hit a str8 flush.
Today was better and a little more exciting I played 401 hands for a win rate 2.06BB/100 taking my running rate to 0.80BB/100 for 14,650 hands.
I have noticed that I need to use the full ring charts for playing the SB in a shorthanded game and this has certainly been more entertaining, I won 2 pots I was not expecting to win and that made all the difference to a winning and losing day. I also got another tourney ticket for $1.50.
Well yesterday was a topsy turvy day got off to a good start but soon went the other way and was a bad losing day. I played 343 hands and lost 136c for -9.11BB/100 taking my win rate to 0.55BB/100 for 14,993 hands.
I went and played a 16 man sit n go and won that for a $11 ticket so not all bad. See how today goes.
