JR came down for the weekend to hang out as the wife is shopping in the States with her cousins on a girls weekend get-a-way. I posted this earlier. She will be back tomorrow.

We started off the weekend by going to the poolroom and playing 9 ball for 3 hours. I'm not sure how the poolroom makes money as the pool is free and beers are $4 each. We felt obligated to have a couple each while we played. We played for $5 a game and at one point I was up 7-1 in games. My leg started bothering me and I couldn't get down to line up shots after that. When we were done I was up 9-7. The score doesn't really matter as hanging out with my son is priceless in itself.

We never did go to any of the casinos. Once my daughters heard JR was down they all came over with their husbands and we had a family bar-b-cue. This to me is worth far more then pursuing my dream of becoming a professional poker player when I was a young man. Even when I teamed up with Grant and Gavin Smith for awhile my family always came first. I'm not sure if I told you about Grant.

When I first met Grant he was a Waterloo Region Policeman by day and a poker player by night. Grant was by far and away the best limit hold-em player in our group and the scary thing is he is a much better stud player then a holdem player. Today Grant is a profession poker player having long ago given up his day job. He lives here in Waterloo Region and has connections in Vegas. When hi rollers come to town he has people phone him here and he takes the next flight out to Vegas to play. He will stay there as long as the game is good and then return home afterwards. OH did I mention he playes strictly limit hold-em, blinds no less then $200-$400. Last time I saw him he had just purchased a red Ferrari to cruise around in. Not all professionals play tournaments . Sorry I digress. Back to JRs visit.

Sunday we played Open Face Chinese poker for about 5 hours. Since the wife isn't around we decided to play for the grand sum of $.50 a point. The final score was 462-261 in my favour. It may suck getting old but I can still beat JR at pool and cards. He wooped my ass the first time we played but that was because I hadn't played that variation before. This timw with one session under my belt and a better understanding of the game I kicked his butt.

Tomorrow is reality check day. Back to work.

I need someone out there to give me about $400,000-$500,000 so I can retire. Working for a living is a necessary evil that is highly overrated. I'm worn out and I want to retire. Any takers er I mean givers out there.

OK, deal...
I'm currently playing NL 4, moving up in stakes slowly.

When I've earned a BI to the WSOP main event, I'll win it, and stake you 100K to play PLO.

It's good to have the whole fam damily over isn't it?

We're going to have the entire crew here in a week or two for my Mum's 90th.

Should be a hoot.

She won't remember it, and for all the wrong reasons.

Cheers,

That's to bad she won't remember it but on the bright side, you and the rest of the family will long after your mom is gone and really isn't that what life is all about. Memories will forever keep alive those loved ones that have left us.

Now you know then main reason why I spend as much time as I can with my granddaughter. Leaving her with as many good memories of me as I can will let me live with her long after I have departed this earth.

When I've earned a BI to the WSOP main event, I'll win it, and stake you 100K to play PLO.

Thanks for the offer but I'm pretty sure I won't live for another 50 years.

It's not often you flop one of these and get action so I had to post it. I know it is much more common playing Omaha but still.

Limit games are my passion. Mixed games especially. Maybe it's because of my age, maybe it's because that is all we played when I first started. Regardless of the reason, as long as Hi-lo is treating me well most of my playing will remain here. I haven't quit playing Omaha hi. I just don't want to bite the hand that feeds me while I'm on a roll.

Session---2.5 hrs---2 tables---325 hands.

I've been going nowhere today but thought I would post anyway.

1st-I finished 2954th in the Wednesday stars $203,000 give-a-way for $10. Hey better then a kick in the head considering it is a 4 person lottery each round that has no play to it

2nd-Stars sent me an e-mail asking if I would like to volunteer to be a beta tester for their upcoming release. I sent in the form saying I would like to. Now to wait and see if I get picked as my playing time there is limited to 7-10 hours a week. I hope I get the nod.

3td-Played the Omaha hi-lo tourney this morning finishing 37th for $25. One of these days I'm going to finish in the top 3. Card dead for last 1/2. Didn't win a hand.

4th-Picked up another $60 in the $2-$4 limit Omaha hi-lo cash game to finally get my July tilt fest back to ground zero.

5th- Switched to PLO on Everest and played like a guppie losing $85 to keep me even on the day. Stupid me.

I have been picked.

I just got a conformation e-mail from stars saying I was picked for their Pokerstars 7 ALPHA TEST PROGRAM

I had to sign up at 2+2 in order to have access to the private stars forum.

Hopefully all this isn't hush hush or I have just spilled the beans.

Hi TheMarxBros3,
Just click "Report", and "complain" about the post you want deleted, in the the complaint text input box put "Please delete this post".

Some mod will do just that.

Give it a go, and when I see it, I'll delete this one too.

Cheers,

I came across this picture when I was in the pokerstars thread on 2+2. I found it amusing and I hope you do as well.

This is what I think is happening whenever I get outdrawn.

Sorry I haven't posted in quite awhile. I got it in my head to start playing Limit Omaha Hi-lo in order to make gold on Stars. This I accomplished. Unfortunately I did nothing but lose for the entire month. I quit playing Omaha as well as Limit 2-4 wracks up the points faster in order to get to gold with my limited playing time. This has been an exercise in futility.

I vow from here on to do the following;
1-Omaha hi-lo shall be played in tournaments only for the foreseeable future
2-Cash games will be Pot Limit Omaha or NL Hold-em only.
3-I will get back to posting at least 1 hand from every session I play in order to work on my Omaha game. I will also post my total won/loss from each and every session no matter how mundane this gets.

I did not want this thread to become a whining woo is me bad beat thread and that is the main reason I got away from posting.

I think I stated very early on in this thread that I run super hot or dead cold. I always have and I guess I always will. Such is my life. If I was a superstitious person I would say I have been running bad ever since I started playing the ALPHA Version of the NEW STARS SOFTWARE but that would be silly wouldn't it.

Without further ado here are Septembers numbers as bad as they are. 90% of my losses are from playing Omaha Hi-Lo.

Starting bankroll---Pokerstrategy $50 me $50 for a total of $100

Stars total---$1090

Everest total---$850

Total---$1940

Profit up till now---$1840

Loss for September---$675

October is a new month and we will have to start over at the bring in $25 tables in order to conform with proper bank roll management.

Not much to report as I haven't played much.

I noticed I am once again bronze. How the hell does that happen?
I made over 800 points on Everest last month. This isn't the first time Everest has screwed up either. I've complained about this before. I guess Everest doesn't send in my points total to pokerstrategy and that is why I get put back to bronze. This has been going on ever since Everest joined ipoker and I had to change my name since I was using the same name on poker770.
Oh well. Maybe I should just cash out and be done with ipoker.

I have a very old account on partypoker which I have't played on in a very long time. Today in the mail I get a letter from party saying they have put $10 in my account to play with, no strings attached, if I would like to try their new software. LOL I'm not sure I have the inclination or will power to try and grind up from another free $10 start.

Tip of the day.--If anyone reading this plays at party and goes broke all you have to do is ignore them for awhile and they will eventually give you a small stake to get you re-started.

Hopefully I will get some grind time in on the weekend and start to get back some of the money I donated to my opponents last month.

I understand that Everest has a different way to transmit points to PokerStrategy.com .

I suggest you create a ticket with customer service and explain the situation.

Best of luck,

Thanks for the reply Volpal but I have created a ticket in the past complaining about this and it is still happening so I am not going to do it again. Some things aren't meant to be I guess.

Here are a few examples of how I have been running for the last 2 months. This is why my posts have been sporadic lately. It sucks to go through these swings. The only good thing I can think of is I still have a bankroll although smaller then it used to be.

Hand 1-

It sucks when a hand that shouldn't be in calls and hits.

And the run continues. :(

If there is one thing this downswing has taught me it is how to lose the minimum.

Here are 2 typical hands from my play today.

Hand 1-

Here I figured he hit an Ace and filled up on the river. Mind you in this instance he may have already been there. He has to have a bigger full-house for his raise on the river so I folded.

I checked the flop with my 2 pair in order to keep the pot small as I was out of position. My bet on the river of 1/2 pot is for protection as much as it is a value bet. Of course he hit his 3 outer on the river but my bet did as it was designed to do and he only called instead of raise.

A couple of months ago I transferred $200 from my stars account to PKR in order to give me another site to play on. I purposely have neglected to mention this before as I wasn't sure I was going to continue to play there for the following reasons.
1-This is also a very old account so it isn't tracked by pokerstrategy.
2-PKR also isn't tracked by pokertracker4 so there is no way I can post hands from there. Also I wouldn't know where to find them on my computer in order to post. If anyone knows where they reside on ones computer please let me know so I can post hands from here as well.
3-The only reason I don't play more on PKR is because of their points policy. You cannot turn your points into cash. The only thing you can do with them is buy tournament tickets ( I don't have a lot of free time to play tournaments)or stuff from their shop. I do not like not being able to turn the points into cash.
Fortunately I have been winning on that site and my $200 is now $845. So at least PKR is covering up for the way I have been running on Stars and Everest.

Monthly and yearly recap.

Starting Bankroll---Pokerstrategy $50 me $50 for a total of $100

Stars total---$1015

Everest total---$740

PKR total---$845 (2 months Sept and Oct)

Total bankroll---$2,600

Profit up till now---$2,500

Profit for October---$660 (includes Sept. PKR in order to catch up everything)

I may have to start playing more on PKR as I can't seem to win on Stars or Everest these days. I had losing months on both those sites. The only reason my profit looks decent this month is because at least 1/2 the money was won in Sept on PKR but not counted last month.

Played after work this afternoon. Yes I am back working Saturdays for awhile as we are very busy. Oh well, the extra money comes in handy.

One hand worth posting which as it turned out was also the only hand I won. Set over set and I had top set. In 2 other hands I had to fold small full-houses on the river.

Hand-

WOW I just noticed that weak-tight can finally show hands that are run twice. :P

Just checking in to let you all know I haven't forgotten about this place. I thought I would slow down and only play sporadically for the time being.
I have been running bad and playing bad for the better part of the last 2 months, October's win notwithstanding as most of that was in 3 or 4 sessions, ever since I came back from Vegas where I played and ran very well. in the little time I had to play while I was there. Funny how the 2 always seem to go together.
Play well and you seem to run well.
Play bad and you seem to run bad.

Also work has been crazy for some reason. My hours for the last 3 weeks have been insane.
Week 1- 66 hours
Week 2- 67 hours
Week 3- 66.25 hours.
Working this much has not left me with much time to play at the moment.
A typical work week for me is 11 to 13 hours a day Monday to Friday and 6 to 8 hours on Saturdays. I start work at 5:30 am, leaving the house at around 4:45 am and get home anywhere from 5:30 to 7 pm at night. After supper is 1/2 workout for the health of my right leg. I definitely do not want to have any more operations on my leg. So this schedule does not leave much if any time to play during the week.

I will get back into playing once we start to slow down, which will happen again sooner or later. As soon as you get used to the extra money things change, work slows down, and the extra money is no more. We always slow down mid December and with Christmas around the corner no paycheck is big enough it seems.

For you people just starting out do not end up in a rut like I have gotten myself into.
I am so busy making a living I don't have time to make any money.

Oh well, hopefully I will get in a few hands this weekend.

Mostly a perception thing imo, if you run into the bottom of villains range every time you call you feel like a genius, and the opposite is true too. Although, obviously if you're playing well, you're more likely to win. :f_biggrin:

Perception is reality some people say.

Good players tend to make their own luck.
This is why you always seem to see the same group of people at the final table of tournaments.
