Been playing poker for 1 and a half years now, ranging from badugi-nlhe sh, in whch time I have made enough to stay a full-time student bum and to get some quaint essentials. (T.V. 24" moniter and pc guitar etc. , you know how it is..)

I recently took a 3month break from poker due to moving to uni halls of residents and partying hard like a fresher should. At uni itself i'm taking a degree in physics and while this is all well and good the new lifestyle is taking its toll on my financial situation :P

My goals right now are to establish myself in the midstakes by summer next year so that i can make poker my part-time job while at uni.

This will require me to analyse and improve my game quite alot as i've barely played much sh before.

I plan on playing 2-4 tables on nlsh for now possibly switching to hu if/when I get rolled for it.

I have my roll split over 2 sites fulltilt and pacific poker with a total roll of $500 to start with. I'm going to play nl20 on pacific until im rolled to start playing nl25 on fulltilt or i reach under $400 then its down to nl10.

Hopefully cashouts wont be needed until around march time so the plan is to use a 25bi brm until a more conservative bankroll is needed, or if i can make the switch to hu.

Im thinking on making weekly posts each friday/saturday whenever rakeback comes through with graphs, hands, the amount of dosh i get to cash-out and any random events that happened during the week.

On a side note im looking for a sweat session partner playing around nl25sh whose looking to improve their game if anyones interested.

      Updated each month (hopefully).

Well im far too underolled for hu cash now and with hu sngs I just wouldnt be able to create as much profit at the current limit.

What I forgot to mention was what i will be doing during holiday times. Because I have my pc with database etc. at uni, when i go back home for holidays sss wont be a good option for me. During these periods i plan on playing hu sng's with a 40-50bi brm taking out 2% of a bi + rakeback for every game I play.

For now im just looking for the variant that gives me the best $/hr which im pretty sure would be sss while at uni and hu sng's when not.

      MONTH 1 WEEK 1

Well straight after i started my blog I ran into 1 big hitch followed by a piece of good news :) .

My plan of playing sss was stopped before I even began. For some unknown reason my computer freezes once i open more than 8-10 tables on fulltilt depending on my computers mood at the time. I'm not sure why but it just keeps freezing. Anyways just as quickly as i was contemplating how i would make this work i got some great news about a grant im able to recieve at uni of around $1500 meaning I dont need to cashout for quite a few months into the future (I think around March time). Realising that money is less of a pressing issue i decided to change my tact completly opting for playing bss sh. A game that requires alot of knowledge and experience to be good at but with great winrates if you are.

So heres the graphs of week 1:

      Fave hand of the week:

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.1/$0.25 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

      Known players:
      MP3:
      $5.42
      CO:
      $18.25
      BU(Hero):
      $26.24
      SB:
      $9.63

Preflop: Hero is BU with 9, 8.
2 folds, CO calls $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, SB calls $0.15, BB checks.

      Flop: ($1) 8, 9, 5 (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, CO bets $1.00, Hero raises to $2.75, SB folds, BB folds, CO calls $1.75.

      Turn: ($6.5) A (2 players)
CO bets $1.25, Hero raises to $5.75, CO raises to $15.25, Hero calls $9.50.

      River: ($37) 8 (0 players)

      Final Pot: $27.5.
      Results follow:

CO shows two pairs, nines and eights(6 9).

With the co being a known huge fish and loose passive blinds limping on the button seemed like a good idea. Nh sir :P

      MONTH 1 WEEK 3

This weekend i travelled back home where i will be staying over christmas. Its very surreal at the moment at times i feel like nothings changed since i left for uni while at others it feels like everything has.

anyway this means i havnt got any graphs or hands to post not that i have many saved for that matter.

I dont have many saved due to my almost sole playing being on pacific poker this week. This is due to an annoying problem wherby i am unable to withdraw until i've wagered $5,000. I wouldnt mind this however if i was able to track hands and have a hud etc. but to do this i would need to purchase idleminer which im unable to do unless i make a paypal account.

Without the hud the only game i am comfortable with is hu cash, as when 1 tabling i can generally still get a good overall idea of the way they play so i took a shot at nl30 hu with about 30 stacks and havnt looked back since making about 10 stacks so far.

Im feeling alot more at home when playing hu than shorthanded and i may well stick to it even after moving off of pacific and back onto fulltilt. My bankroll is now over double that of my starting deposit after around 30 hours of play so i guess im most definatly on some kind of mad heater. :s_love: i mean :f_love:

Studywise i've been making full use of the free stoxpoker membership i got and have watched a very good series of videos about playing your a-game consistently and getting rid of negative patterns that you've accidently brought in overtime.

I'm now just starting to watch a series of videos on hu play which is also looking pretty awsome-o

      MONTH 1 WEEK 4

Another very pleasing week pokerwise made about $350 so 12 more stacks in a relatively short amount of play think i clocked in about 10 hours?

Not too long now till i can take my cash off pacific and back onto fulltilt, think i have to wager about $600 more.

My bankroll currently stands at $1640. When i move back to fulltilt im going to shot nl50 hu until i either hit $1250 and look for something else to make $ with or until im rolled for a shot at nl100 hu :s_evil: .

Not being able to review hand histories is kind of annoying as ive made a large number of huge river/turn bluffs that i would like to make sure still look like good plays with a fresh mind.

had an awfull time finacally over the last few months mainly because i'm only just about to recieve my student loans from september.

Was expecting the full grant with a bursary, but doesnt look like thats not going to come either which is lame.

Had to cash out my roll pretty much since the last post here and have only been playing the occasional hu sng on pacific with pretty much 0 bankroll management starting from $57 managed to run it up to $600 playing $50 husng's.

Cashed that out to pay rent etc. but now im getting atleast some sort of loan am going to put it back in.

I now have a new goal to run it up to $2500 within the next month by some form of mega grinding probably sss'ing on ???? gunna ask furom for help.

This is because within the next month I want to start a viable cashout plan playing nl50 hu on fulltilt, i'll explain the details if i acutally make it.

Had an interesting night, mate of mine from back home not uni came down to brighton to see me. We had alot of drinks then went clubbing - place called digital if anyones been there -

Dunno why but after we left there about 3am ended up going to the casino and playing £1/2 cashgame with a £400 stack. Now I really cant afford these games whatsoever let alone while extremely drunk.

Didnt hit any hands (not even a pair) and made some huge bluffs for my entire stack with air.

Ended up leaving £51 down which i can live with. (My friend spent the whole time there throwing up in the loo he'd never been to a casino before had to go because he was getting *helped* out)

Having sobered up now the experience has really opened up my eyes to how people can very quickly develop gambling problems.

I feel very dissapointed in myself and highly doubt i'll ever do that again so i guess im very lucky.

On the online poker front im taking $100 out of my poker bankroll to cover loses for last night so leaves me $500.

Think i'm going to try rush poker see if I like it and if not just go back to normal 6-max. I couldnt see a good enough reason to play sss.

Gunna post this experience in the self study management section like to hear peoples views.

      Long time no post! :f_biggrin:

The last month and abit i've been playing the live games at my local casino in brighton £1/£2. I started with a £200 shot and playing around 3 nights a week have made almost £3k, my worst losing night being £540 (the night of my 21st b-day after heavy drinking.... LOL) and my biggest winning night being £650 most of which was won off 2 rich businessmen, (who from what i could gather own hotels,) who liked me and therefore would call ridiculus bets on the boards without even having a hand (good times :s_cool: ). With the new found cash i've enjoyed treating my fellow students to many drinks clubbing, buying whatever food +drink +music + clothes i felt like and generally not having to worry about financial troubles unlike most of the student bums around me.

Now that i've quit university i paid my student loan off taking my entire bankroll i have $85 left on fulltilt and am going to grind the super turbos starting at the 1 dollar level seeing as i already have table ninja and sng wiz it shouldnt be too hard
