What started as a float with overcards ended with interesting river

Calling with 2 over cards and backdoor flush draw on the flop isn't to bad or villain is really tight. Turn I would just check to the aggressor and fold on a decent bet. As played you have a easy value bet on river.

I get in trouble most times I try that!
I will do it it if the flop is K- or Q-high and I was the pre-flop raiser
I usually don't on A-high boards since low-stakes opponents call so often with Ace-rag hands

I wouldn't float flop. I wouldn't x/r.
Floating often is +EV if we have fold equity on later streets. AKA, We x/c, he x/b turn, we donk lead river an he folds. Standard line.
BUT..
We're vs a short stack so in general I prefer to play tighter. A reg here may fold tighter when we stab, but often (as we know) short stacks are worse players and tend to call more. Meaning we can't stab as loose. Also when we x/r on this flop, a reg may even fold top pair. Vs a shorter stack,.. he could ship with the regs folding range.

Villian profile is always the first thing to take note of. Stack size is key. And should sometimes drastically change your play.

Vs a reg, x/r could be a good line here although somewhat agro. We probably don't need to x/r this because we have so many other better combos of things in our bluffing range, such as 67x, AhXh, ect.

As played, overbet ship the river. Fish love to call and if he did bink the ace, is probably going nowhere.

I played a tournament today, and played much more aggro than normal, and it seemed to help.
Mind you, I got some excellent cards too.

xr is a good option although calling is ok as well so both are viable +ev decisions on the flop and i'm not sure on the turn given villains stack size.You could make a good argument for pretty much any line here but given villains stack size it's an awkward spot whatever line you choose imo.

me neither - agree that we shouldn't bluff XR vs what is most likely a recreational!
