Top pair, yes, but no usable kicker.
Opponent has Ax solidly in his 3Bet range, and almost all of his "Ax" hands dominate A4o
You also need to consider sets -- although most players wouldn't 3Bet 55, 77 or 88 (at least I don't think so)
I saw a mid-stacker 3Betting all pocket pairs tonight, and BB is playing a shortish stack -- who knows?

KK is definitely part of his range though, then there is all the random two-pairs -- again these aren't likely to have 3Bet pre

As near as I can tell:
Best option is to fold weak Aces to 3Bets pre. <<< I'm going to get a lot of disagreement here
Other options?
4Bet pre: Hand is too weak
Raise flop: This has merit. Let's see what others say

Against a normal 3bet I would fold pre-flop, but against a min 3bet you can't really fold.
Post-flop I would give up the turn against a unknown with top pair bad kicker.
As played river is a easy fold. You beat only a random bluff and that seems unlikely.

Obviously -however this is not proper 3bet - just minraise. In position I would fold 0% there.

I dont want to be asshole - but this is exact reason why you are still playing nl2. 'Raising for info' was paradigm in 2010, not now. You have pure bluffcatcher and your raise doesnt accomplish anything. You fold his bluffs like KJ or QT and isolate yourself against strong range. I would say its best way to burn money on table.

I think you played it ok. Half pot is often overbluffed sizing so calling flop and turn is not bad.

fold pre- this is most of the time the problem with playing hand like this, unless you kill the flop like 3 of a kind 4's or hit a str8- they are scary hands to play.... even if you hit 3 of a kind A's and villain keeps betting into you, Can you fold this hand? probably not.. Are you beat Probably Yes..

I love it when they say, "I don't want to be an asshole" then proceed to prove themselves wrong.
The guy is a short stack. The implied odds suck.
By calling his min raise you already isolate yourself against better, then even worse, you call him down to the river with a weak ace tossing more and more into a pot.
Raising flop isn't to get information, it is to deny equity.

Calling down only to fold the river seems the worst of all options

The guy is probably fish who is giving you excellent odds to call.

From my experience min3bet is all over place. It can be AA, JTo or 52s so I wouldnt say we isolate ourselves.

Yeah, we need to deny 3% of equity his KQ has. Sounds like good plan. Flop is too static to consider raising to deny equity. You will always have TP and a lot of broadway hands have almost no chance to improve.

I dont mind folding to big turn bet but in this case:
-he is still betting half pot
-we got equity boost - 6 giving us straight is likely clean out
So calling and folding to shove on river seems ok against unknown recreational.

i agree w Emiya on both the hand (call 3bet pre, C, C, F) and on the rest of the debate:

you guys are great moderators, kind and very helpful, but your poker game is dated for sure.

poker is solved. you can chose to ignore that fact, or look into the (not so) new tools and solutions.

in the meantime pls consider not to spread wrong plays here.
