Hi Community,
I want to know what you think about my starting hand chart, which I created for NL2$ 6max Game at GGPoker.

I know I should not be result oriented for the first small samplesize, but I want to know If I have a wrong selection of starting hand charts for MP & CO? This is where I have my biggest losses.

Do you have any good suggestion for a starting hand chart for micro stakes NL 6 max games? I also started to read Master Micro Stakes Poker, I already read the first 16%. I also programmed a Odds and Outs calculator, with implied odds calculation and calculator how much equity I need to call a bet. The programm is running in a excel workbook. I started with 4 tables, but then realized first I need to improve my game and get used to odds and outs calculations. This is more easy for me with only 2 tables. When my game is improved I will start again with 4 tables.

best regards,
Kingdollar

Hi kingdollar,
Those are all raise-first-in charts, correct?
(well, except for BB)
They look tight to me (but that's good), but where you're likely to get into trouble on GG is dealing with 3Bets.

I have a rule — I don't flat call open raises. If I can't 3Bet it, I'll fold. The exception is pocket pairs. I'll set-mine with those.
I also steal a ton — so my CO, BU and SB ranges are wider than yours, but at NL2 on GG your are OK for now.

That's all my opinion of course, and I'm not really a Hold'em expert.

Since you have a blog, be sure to check out the bankroll challenge (if you haven''t done so already).

Cheers,
VS

Hi VorpalF2F,
I'm really happy that you answered my post. Yes it is only raising starting hand chart, and if somebody raised before I decide according to his stats if I call, fold or 3 bet. GG has some public stats in the software and I try to use these stats if I have enough hands from the player. If I don't have enough hands, I try to give his actions more credit until I'm sure I know different. It can create costly mistakes if you act on a statistic without enough hands, I did this earlier and don't want to repeat.

I wish you a good evening!

Hi Community,
today I tried to analyze, with the knowledge from my poker book, my statistical data to find my biggest leaks. What do you think? In the moment I only play Big Stack strategy on 6 max NL 2$ games, at GGPoker. Do you follow my ideas with the leaks which I identified? I compared my values with the values from the book, pictures at the left and defined values which I should try to reach in future hands. From my point of view many BB are lost for too much continuation betting and also steel value is too low, and my Fv3B is too high. PFR is too low too. Would you call more at villians turn bets?

According to my leak analysis I updated my own created starting hand chart, it is for raise.

A lot of these depend on your opponents.
For example, when facing tight players in the blinds, you can steal much wider than 23%
Have a look at: https://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/bss/exploits-auto-profit/
Here's a video on the same topic: https://www.pokerstrategy.com/video/30670/
There are similar videos in other languages as well.

GG doesn't permit trackers, but by keeping watch you can see if SB and BB are folding a lot. If so, open-raise more.
GG NL2 also has a lot of "family pots" where large numbers of players are all in for 1 BB. I avoid them, but they're OK to play with suited connectors and small pocket pairs, but abandon the effort unless you hit a decent flop.

Hi VorpalF2F,
I really like your good feedback, I just read the article. Thanks for sharing it. I'm pretty sure it is also written in my book but I'm only at 27% in the moment.

Dear Community,
I continued to read in the poker book and half completed half of the book by now. It is really interesting and valueable. I can recommend the book "Master Micro Stakes Poker: Learn to Master 6-max No Limit Holdem Micro Stakes Cash Games".

I would like to exchange with the community which starting hand chart you are using and what are your stealing ranges, iso raise ranges, and cold calling ranges. I use the charts from the book in the moment. What is your strategy to defind the big blind?

Here are the charts which I use.

Hi community,
here one update for my current poker results.
I made a second small cash in to be able to play NL5$ as a regular limit and I won back also all my losses from NL2$. I just couldn't play NL2 seriously because I was calling to much, due to small amount of money in the pot. To prevent this leak I also started to record each session now with a video.
Does the coaching stopped at pokerstrategy?

Hello community,
I continued to read in my book "Master Micro Stakes Poker: Learn to Master 6-max No Limit Holdem Micro Stakes Cash Games". By now I have 63% of the book completed.

Currently I'm running a bit better, all losses are won again and I'm up 8,46$.

NL2$ results:

NL5$ results:

NL2$ & NL5$ combined:

I continue to read my book during the next days, and try to further improve my game. Do you have any book tips which are not outdated already? For 6 max Holdem Poker.

Outdated doesn't really apply to poker. What applies is the oldest trick in the book: "Do what your opponents aren't doing"
There is an article called The Five Player Types that characterizes players and discusses altering our own strategies to counter their play. Yes, it is very old, but still applies. In modern times, there are some new types like "the guy that thinks GTO is god".

Note that this applies up to about NL 25 — above that the players are changing tactics frequently themselves.

Hi community,
I updated my poker calculator tool in excel. It is written in excel vba. I added a calculator where I calculate the minimum fold equity needed to have a total of 51% equity. I calculate it by "minimum fold equity = 0,51 - EquityFromMyOuts". With this factor I can quickly see where a semi bluff is more profitable, due to my remaining outs. How do you evaluate if a bluff is profitable for you? I mean with this I don't calculate for pure bluffs, it is more to evaluate if a semi bluff is more likely to be profitable.

My current NL5$ results including today, NL2$ I stopped playing for the moment.

Hi community,
it seems that I moved from downswing at NL2$ to an upswing at NL5$. Today I only played a few hands and I continue to read in my poker book. I also become a silver member at pokerstrategy so I will also check out if there are interesting articles to further improve my game in the strategy section from poker strategy.

How do you select the tables at GGPoker? I was a bit stupid, I realized today that you can filter the table when you use the waiting function. I hope this will keep my earnings higher without the need to filter manually.

I forgot to publish my SB & BB calling chart. It is also from my book. Again it is for NL 6 max Holdem Games.

I wish you all a good evening!

Not surprising. You are starting to see players that think, and are therefore easier to estimate their possible ranges.

Yeah that's very true. NL2 is like the wild west while on nl5/10 people start to think a bit. However u can also find solid NL2 tables on Stars for example

Hi kikilolo,
I know enough about bankroll management. I cashed in some $ to permanently play NL5. In the moment I'm also higher in my bankroll compared to what I cashed in. I have 42 buy ins for NL5 in the moment. I just wasn't happy with NL2 and I didn't want to spent so much time to beat it.

One example calculation:
If you cash in 50$ and play NL2 you need 50$ cash in + 75$ winnings to be able to play NL5 with a 25 Buy in bankroll. 75$ winnings at NL2 are 3750 Big Blinds. If you are a 5BB / 100 winning player you need to play 75.000 Hands at NL2. If you are a 2,5BB/100 winning player you need 150.000 Hands at NL2. Let's assume 75 Hands / Hour and 4 allowed tables in germany. It is a minimum of 75.000 / 75 Hands / Hour = 1000 Hours for one tabling. 1000 Hours / 4 Tables = 250 hours. 75$ / 250 hours = 0,3$ per hour earnings. With 2,5BB it is 0,15$ per Hour. From my point of view this is not worth the effort, but you can of course make your own decisions.

Even playing at NL5$ isn't making you huge winnigs, but I think it is also easier, because you make better decisions because you are more likely to respect 10$ in a pot compared to 4$. I was calling to loose at NL2$ because I couldn't take it seriously. Now at NL5 it is better for me and I also record each session, to prevent me from bad play. With this move I have the feeling I need to justify my moves towards other people. It helps me to make better decisions, because I think more about my play and the betting line from villian.

Maybe this move with the records if helping you too.

Hi community,
I made a poker free day today and relaxed because i was very tired. But I spent some minutes and checked if my game was improving as planned with a new statistical analysis. From the given values from my book I improved nearly in all areas but not for Fold vs 3 bet here I was playing even tighter as before. Do you think you really should fold to PF 3 bet's in a range of 50-60%? My current value for this is 78,57%. When I check my book it is too high.

What do you think about the flop and turn continuation bet percentage? Should it really be in a corridor of 21-39%? Or are you too readable then because villian knows that you have most likely a very strong draw or value hand already? My average contibet value is 67% for all streets of the game.

Great work!

To your fold to 3bet question. What is your goal? Learn that playing style (from the book) and get comfortable in it; or adjusting to something, exploit player pool or avoid ugly spots later?

There is a reason why they calculated/observed that range call when you open with range x.

Every time you fold, you put in the middle you maybe shouldn't have because you forfeit the equity in 3b-pots and the equity in srp might not compensate that.

EP: If you only open with AA and Kings you would fold 0%. If you only open with 73o and 62o you would fold 100%.

So the range is dependent on your opening range. Either find more hands you will to fight with or get rid of hands.

Because if you fold 3 of 4 times it's >75% equity to 3bet you. I risk 7bb that I might be called once vs your 2.5 I win 3 times. Why shouldn't I 3bet you all the time?

Hi Rhodriguez,
thank you for your good feedback. Yes I want to learn the playing style from the book. And you are right if somebody 3 bet's me always and I call 25% he will earn 3 BB * 3 = 9BB and I can only win 9BB partially with the given equity in the hand where I call the 3 bet from villian. That's what you mean right?

kingdollar
