So, welcome to my blog, a place i'm planning on helping me keep motivated towards learning about poker, analysing my play, picking out flaws and moving through the limits.
A bit of background then, i'm currently 19, from the UK and in full time education at University, this meaning I have a very limited bank balance, so I will have to make do with what is already in my accounts. So, I first began with the poker a few years ago with friends, you know, just for fun. To be honest I didn't have a clue how to play properly and it was only until my first year at University, when I joined the Poker Society, that I fully understood all the rules, although I was still a terrible player ♦ Eventually, after teh first semester, I stopped going to Poker Society out of sheer laziness, however we did still play for money between friends quite a lot.
But, in the summer just gone it all happened, I was on a forum looking at these schemes to earn a few extra spending pennies over the internet, and I came across a referral link to PokerStrategy. So I signed up, read the articles, passed the quiz first time and within a few days I had recieved my capital on PartyPoker. Although I was following the rules, eventually I became bored (My theory is because I was SSS'ing 1 table, getting very little action). Soon enough the BRM and SHC went out of the window and I played how I thought was best, which turned out to be disastrous. Capital: Gone. However I still had the thirst to play poker, I read through the articles again and deposited £10 into William Hill, whilst posting referral links on the Internet and forcing my Dad to join on my link. I played casually with the £10 I deposited and eventually I racked up enough TaF $$$ to withdraw, so it went back into PartyPoker and that's what i'm playing with now.
So, a little about my Bankroll, currently I have $41 in Party Poker, £30 in William Hill (I entered a MTT for $5 when my TaF bonus arrived, cashing in $50 at 23rd place), I also have about $30 in AbsolutePoker and minute amounts in Betfair and Ladbrokes. But Party is where I will be focusing my play.
The 1st November came, and I had finally sorted out Elephant on Vista, so I thought now would be the perfect time to start a new blog, a new start if you will. I went back to basics, SSS NL4, abandoning my attempt at BSS (Which went all against BRM as well)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Short Term
- I want to master NL4 and move to NL10 SSS when I reach $60 Done!
- The one tweak I know I have must be fixed, I need to learn how to put a hand down, For instance, when I KNOW someone has an Ace and there is one on the flop, I cannot put down KK, EVER. Done!
- Reach Silver Status on PS Done!
- Learn to Multitable effectively Done!
- Study all the Bronze articles again before I reach Silver. Done!
Long Term
- Move through the ranks at PS, hopefully gaining my Elephant licence
- Make it to $100 by the end of November (I know we shouldn't set monetary goals but hell, one won't hurt) Failed!
- Read all articles available to me
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More goals will probably follow but that will do for now. So, i'm basically using this blog as a place to set myself personal goals, and stick to them, post hands I find interesting and analyse leaks in my game. And overall, to become a better poker player!
I've played 2 sessions over the last few days, mainly because i've had a hell of a lot of work to do. It's gone well, in those 2 sessions (small sessions - 487 hands overall) i've made $13.65, a staggering 70BB/100. I know this will most likely not continue, and variance reminded me emphatically earlier on by literally mugging me of 2 stacks. The situation is this, I was playing 2 tables, I got KK, went all in pre flop, got a caller, who happened to be holding the dreaded AA, I lose. Literally the next hand on the other table I get KK, again, all in preflop, called by a ATs holder who hits trip A on the flop.
Anyway, I will get the analysis underway tomorrow when I wake up, I do have a few hands I will post now actually:
