Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.5/$1 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9:d, J:s.
2 folds, BU raises, SB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB) 2:d, 9:h, J:c (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BU bets, SB folds, Hero raises, BU 3-Bets, Hero caps, BU calls.

Turn: (7 BB) 5:h (2 players)
Hero bets, BU calls.

River: (9 BB) 6:d (2 players)
Hero bets, BU calls.

Final Pot: 11 BB.

Opponent is unknown but looks fishy.
I cap the flop directly because he could sometimes be freecard 3-betting with something like QT. But maybe it is more profitable to raise/call flop and c/r turn.

If I don't know the opponent I prefer the line you've chosen. It is possible that he 3bets draws or overcards and I don't want to give these freecards.

yes! against unknown, keep up the initiative OOP and avoid the freecard. in case he's betting the turn, you just gain 1SB extra but your lose 3SB if he takes the freecards.
