FYI: Today the dutch company Ahold (Stop & Shop) bought bol.com for 350 million euro.

Rough day for fotakis, the -27 BB/100 player that I offered to work with.

Here were my instructions after analyzing his play:

1. Play tight.
2. Don't bluff.
3. Value bet good hands.

Here is what I see on Skype this morning:

Fotakis: It was a disaster. On Sunday I lost 6 BI, because of bluffs on the river with air!!!

I've said this before but believe it more than ever ... most players at the micros know the right decision to make in a vacuum, but have a hard time actually doing it in games. I've been there myself. I think finding ways to manage your ego & emotions are absolutely fundamental in having long term success.

Nah I remember watching one of the Vital_Myth videos on cardrunners (I guess it was about hand reading).
He specifficaly mentioned there as a last point: clicking the right button.
It isn't that easy-hoping,frustation etc. or for me "good odds or he is weak there make as clicking the wrong button

Hi,

read the entire thread and I'm now following it actively :).

As I have been working with poker for my entire professional career ¬5 years I'm obviously interested in the game.

However, it's never been a priority for me to become a great player. I've always put everything ahead of poker, and when I played it was always for fun. It was only recently when I was denied a prominent role at PokerStars due to the fact that I have not played 1,000,000 hands of poker - at least I wasn't able to prove it (and I doubt I really have). Granted that role probably had 100s of applicants so I can't really say this was the deciding factor - they did reply that they were impressed by my test performance but lack of playing experience did not pass me through the 3rd selection phase.

My goals now are to climb the micros and at least be able to beat NL50, and reach 1 million hands.
I know my weaknesses:
1. Sometimes calling down knowing I'm beat, just because I have a decent hand with the excuse - he is a fish.
2. 4betting at the micros is not really that profitable, especially not without the nuts.
3. Bluffing when I will only be called by better (last night I 4bet an unknown OOP, he calls and I push on Q47 rainbow flop with AK) He obviously calls me with aces.

My strenghts:
1. I am able to bluff at the right board textures, and I do it with quite some success. So my redline is good.
2. I take notes on players and avoid bumping up against the players I consider reasonably good.
3. I'm winning at 37bb/100 at NL10, 47bb/100 at NL2. (NL10 1000 hands /NL2 2000 hands)

I like your questions so far - they stimulate me to think more.
