Haha thanks for the post Waiboy.

Actually I wasn't on tilt at all. I was playing fantastically. There was a few guys at the table who where witnessing it all. After a few hands one guy says "man you take the sickest beats" and the other guy says "I cant believe you haven't ****ing smashed your computer yet".

Anyways I befriended the fish. He gave me his 2+2 screenname so I can invite him to play again. You should have seen the frenzy I was in to create a 2+2 account. And as for if I knew his cards would I play the same? As far as I'm concerned, I would have done the same exact thing. Pot was capped preflop with my AA. Flop came T82 1 spade. Flop was 4 bet. Three handed which I was to later learn was AA, KK, and 85 spades. Turn came 4 of spades. Four bet and still 3 handed. River comes 9s, which at the time before the hand ended I knew was going to be a horrible card. 85s bets, I call, KK calls. $49 dollars. (Any tips on the best way to post HM hands to this site would be great).

Anyways I ended my session about 2 hours after my rage post. In all honesty I think the rage post helped. I never wavered from my good play and I'm more proud of my play today than any day in the last month live poker included. I grinded it back at a rate of 9BB/100 to get to a net loss of $26. After I finished and got my gf I sat down for a long study session. It just ended which means I've been studying for 2.5 hours. I couldn't believe how much time I had spent studying when I realized how well I actually had played. I went through every losing and winning hand and the only thing that cost(?) me money was some semi loose calls in position on the flop with overcards. The reason for the ? is at this point I cant decide if that was wrong. I also cashed in on a lot of those semi loose overcard calls by hitting my overcards.

Anyways, this post got much longer than expected so here is the breakdown:

1285 hands / -$26.25 profit / -1.02 BB/100

VPIP% 15.2 / PFR% 10.2 / 3Bet % 6.7

$560.25 Online Bankroll

Awsome to see your running hot...

You staying in with overcards is not a leak AFAIK,

I mean when it comes to being on the flop, It is rare yor going to fold AK, AQ etc etc, you just got to see the turn at least with the odds...

Anyhow I am not about to post here like some high horse riding pro haha,
but I would suggest you look through the articles......

For shits and giggles (I say that because more often than not I am wrong when I post in it)
I like to post in the evaluation sections, to see how much I have absorbed so far.

I did notice in at least 2 if not more of your posts, you should have been raising prflop.

This much I can stand by for sure 8)

Anyhow I would say that the doubts you have about which line you took could be answered for you if you read up on them.

I also wanted to write here to thank you.. You posted some SICK hands, which half of me said OH SHIT!! Jump on this,
and the other half said Are you kidding? this is a tough spot retard leave it to the pros.... SO yeah your hands you post =
not simple to answer and I even looked at them for quite a while before posting because like they say.. If you do not have anything
good to say, then shut the fuck up.

I think you can be getting a little more value out of your hands if you look at the starting hands chart in the bronze section,
not the basic section. You will increase your VPIP, but it is a well worth it investment each time you join a hand...

I've actually read the bronze and silver multiple times now. When I signed up here I was working at a job that allowed me to browse the net. I'm pretty sure I watched the FL full ring vids 5 times each at least.

I did refresh up before I started this online journey by rereading the FR silver articles and I completely read Winning Big in Small Stakes Holdem by David Skalansky.

As for the hand chart I've been using Approx's FR chart. Its very helpful in those questionable situations with small suited connectors and small pockets.

I was under the impression that 15/10/5 was somewhat solid FL FR stats. I'm not sure if I want to loosen up anymore since when I tend to play weaker holdings I have an inherant ability to get myself too deep.

What I really need to do is figure out the best hand converter to convert hands to the FL hand area and this site.

Hey Verre

My understanding is the FR Approx charts are out of date and the Bronze FR charts are still the better ones to use... based on a comment by ciRith in the FL discussion boards a while back.

With experience I guess some adjustment to this is okay based on villians stats.

Do you play at pokerstars? If so, aren't you able use the hand histories from HEM and use the PS.com hand converter?

Yeah I play at Pokerstars. I will try that starting in my next post.

Today was hard to comprehend. It was rather embarassing from a numbers standpoint and I'm having a hard time actually divulging them to you because of the utter discust I have for them.

The day started off slow, broke even, and then went off a cliff. I feel I have made the correct decision by moving to online poker but it seems I am being tested right away. It seems I've hit my first downswing in almost a year.

To break the day down easily without me spending too much time on this post I will write out the number of times I hit a certain hand and what happened.

Full House - 5 Times. Lost 2 to quads, 1 to a higher hidden full house made on the river, and 1 I won with.

A high nut flush - 3 Times. 1 Won. 2 nut flush on the flop 4 bet to river where board paired and ran into fulls each time. Both where KQs with an A high suited flop.

Multiple Straights, but two that stick out to me.

ATs on the Button. No one in the hand. I raise. BB reraises. I call. Flop KQJ rainbow. 4 bet. Turn is 2. 4 Bet. River is 2. Call single bet to lose to a full house Kings full of 2s.

87s in the cutoff. Call limped pot by 4 others. SB raises and everyone calls for a 7 handed pot. Flop is 654 two spades to give me nut straight and a flush draw. I reraise to 2 and I get 3 callers making it 4 handed. Ac on the turn. Its bet and reraised to me. I 3 bet, SB calls, 1 fold, a 4 bet, I call and sb calls to make it 3 handed. River comes 4h to pair the board. SB bets and gets two calls. SB turs over A4o for a full house.

I had about 12 sets cracked today as well, just no time to get into the details. These few hands here cost me almost $130 dollars alone.

So I ended my day, here are my stats _cry:

2162 hands / -$238.75 profit / -5.52 BB/100

VPIP% 13.7 / PFR% 10.0 / 3Bet % 5.3

$321.50 Online Bankroll

So as you can see at this point I'm pretty much at the lowest moment of my poker career. I have yet to go over my hands and really at this point I didn't want too. I decided the best thing to do would be to call up my "poker teacher" who is basically the guy who got me introduced to poker and tought me at the beginning. He is a very successful live player and has always had good advice for me. He insists I come over with my computer so he can go over my game and help me go over the session from hell.

He got out his calculator and starts adding while I drown my sorrows away in his well stocked fridge. I dont ask him what he is doing because he looks very intense and I didn't want to ask questions. After about 45 minutes of calculating and going through everythings he looks up at me now laying on his couch and says "This is just sick".

Apparently he was doing the calculations as to how good I put my money in before the river and how much I lost because of a unlikely river. He started rattling off how he did the calculations which did make some sense. He took all the hands in which I won or lost more than 6 BBs and then did a calculation based on how much money I put in the pot before the river (because of course with a bad card I would only pay one bet to see a showdown) and then did the caculation on how good my money was in. Here is the breakdown:

On my 25 biggest losses today, I had my money in good before the river 19 times. On average on in these 19 hands I had my money in at 82% chance of winning. The losses on those 19 hands was $213.25.

2 out of the 25 hands I had my money in good before the turn. On average my money was in with a 73.5 chance of winning. The losses on these hands was $18.00.

On my 25 biggest wins today, I had my money in good before the river 23 times. On average these 23 hands had my money in at a 80.27% chance of winning. The 23 wins made me $136.75.

As you can see, I'm in a downswing. One thing that definately cost me money today was loose calls with overcards on the flop with the wrong odds. It cost me $33.

A second thing that cost me alot of money today was just being card dead. VPIP of 13.7% is low, and that was me playing semi loose because of the lack of monsters. As for AK today, it netting me a total winnings of -96.25 dollars. I was dealt AK 23 times today.(This is no joke and frankly makes me want to puke) Out of those 23 times today I hit an A or a K on the flop TWICE. With AKs I hit 3/9 flush draws on the flop, but never a pair. The flush completed 1/3 which was standard. Out of the 19 times I bought a turn card with AK with no pair on the flop, I hit my flushdraw or a pair on the turn 0 times.

Today AA was cracked by AJo and A7o. Both times with a 789TJ straight. Fortunately I played these right, minimized my losses and came out with a big profit on my 7 AA.

KK was cracked by JJ twice on the river, for big losses.

I was dealt QQ 7 times. 4 times there was an A or a K on the flop. Two of the remaining 3 the board was paired. I was 2/7 with QQ today with a loss of $5.00.

Overall I think its good to get this outta my system. I know my play isn't costing big amounts of money. In fact I know my play over the longrun will win me money. This adventure wasn't even supposed to start until August but it did and I have learned valuable information as well as built a database of 5185 hands to use. On top of that I grinded out Silver in 3 days and was 400 VPPS away from Gold. This combined with the amount of hands I am able to put out a day playing 6 tables makes me believe in my abilities to put in the time and play the hands.

As for the start of August, I'm taking my girlfriend on vacation for 5 days starting on the 3rd. This is my reason for only making a goal of Gold Star and 25,000 hands. I went out and purchased Super Systems 2 as well as packed Supersystems and Winning Big with Low Stakes. All three of which I will read while I am away. I also printed out some Silver articles to read while I am gone. I feel the best thing I can do is keep my mind ready for being a solid player while my body is relaxing on the beach.

When I get back I am going to use the bronze starting hand chart as Waiboy suggests. It is much simpler and easier to follow at the click of a button than Approx' chart is and as Waiboy said it is probubly better anyways.

Once again I am excited to start grinding away at this and thank you all for reading so far.

Hey Verre.. don't overplay overpairs!!!

If you have a read villian 3bets turn with draws, top pair or overpairs then fine, but the river bet makes no sense.

Ask yourself what better hand folds, what worse hand calls.. no hand you beat that CAPs the turn will fold to a river bet and if villian is pure bluffing then they fold here unless villian is a complete maniac - and even then don't bet a marginal hand!

Hello all.

Thanks for following so far. Today is the start of this endevour but like I previously said, I'm going on vacation tomorrow. I found 3 hours to play today and it went decent. It started off with a boom up which is a nice change, but I ran a 9s full of Ts house into Quad Ts for a $24 dollar loss to start a bad downswing for about 120 hands. Overall the day ended averagely but winning is winning.

I figured I'd start posting 3 hands a post to keep you up to date with some of the good times and bad times I have.

Start things off with my best hand of the day.

$1/$2 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG1 with Q :spade:, Q .
UTG folds, Hero raises, 4 folds, CO calls, BU calls, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: (8.5 SB) 9 , Q :diamond:, 6  (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO raises, BU calls, BB calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (8.25 BB) 7 :spade: (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, BU calls, BB folds.

River: (11.25 BB) 9 :club: (3 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, BU folds, Hero 3-Bets, CO calls.

Final Pot: 17.25 BB.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results follow:

Hero shows a full-house, queens full of nines(Q :spade: Q ).
CO shows a full-house, nines full of sixs(6 :diamond: 9 :diamond:).

Hero wins with a full-house, queens full of nines(Q :spade: Q ).

A somewhat funny hand that teaches you not to slow play.

$1/$2 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG2 with A :spade:, A .
Hero calls, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, BU folds, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) K , K :spade:, J :spade: (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO bets, SB raises, BB folds, Hero calls, MP2 folds, CO folds.

Turn: (5 BB) J :club: (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

River: (7 BB) 5  (2 players)
SB bets, Hero folds, SB gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: 7 BB.

And a hand for the way my day ended. Messed up the river as well.

$1/$2 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BU with Q :club:, Q :diamond:.
2 folds, MP1 raises, 3 folds, Hero 3-Bets, 2 folds, MP1 calls.

Flop: (7.5 SB) T , 5 :spade:, 8 :diamond: (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero 3-Bets, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.75 BB) 2 :club: (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls.

River: (8.75 BB) T :spade: (2 players)
MP1 bets, Hero raises, MP1 3-Bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 14.75 BB.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results follow:

MP1 shows three of a kind, tens(T :diamond: J :diamond:).
Hero shows two pairs, queens and tens(Q :spade: :diamond: Q).

MP1 wins with three of a kind, tens(T :diamond: J :diamond:).

Anyways the mental drive I have for this right now is at an all time high. I'm almost sad that I cant be playing for the next week but I know that the rest is needed.

Thanks for the input Waiboy. I noticed overplaying overpairs into a weak preflop/flop caller and then reraising thier 2 bet usually gets me in trouble. It tends to mean thier weak draw has hit and then I end up paying them off at a higher price than I should be.

To begin, this post is in a million pieces in my head that have accumulated over the last 11 days through "meditation time" if you would, and talks with my girlfriend and close friend about the direction of life amongst other things.

I didn't quite know how or what to start this with so I will list a few topics off to let you and I know what is to come in this post or a later post depending on the length and time this one takes.

:diamond:Short Term (from now to the end of September)
:club:Long Term (October to 2015ish)
:heart:Why playing poker is like playing any market (stock, commodity, currency, mutual fund, dividend, ect....) and why it is different (transactions, investing borrowed funds, ect...)
:spade:How and why we should play poker like major market traders excersize thier markets.

On August 2nd my girlfriend and I set out for a trip to a beach side campground to meet up with another couple that are close friends and thier extended family. I brought with me some books thinking I would have lots of time to read them but in the end I read half of one. What was taking up my time was deep thought about where I was going with my life.

It seems I am in an odd spot in my life. I have no job which gives me plenty of what many people would call freedom. I myself called this freedom until I realized what I really have is a trap. I live with my parents and my girlfriend does not live with me, I pay minimal rent and my monthly expenses are roughly 1500 a month, mostly due to interest on loans that I will get into in the differences between the markets and poker.

This has trapped me into a place where I cannot move up or on with my life. I would like to get married, buy a place, and have kids soon. To some guys out there that seems crazy at the age of 23 but to me having a family and being young enough to enjoy my childrens company when they are my age is something very important to me. I needed a way to get what I want and I realize that short of hitting the lottery I will not have these things in the next two years.

I had already knew I wanted those things before I went on this trip, but it was hitting home that I was no where near those things. If I dont do something now I wont have them when I'm 26 either and that began to scare me. If I took the job I had before back, which may be an option in a few months, it may put me in a place of limbo where I dont make enough money or have enough security to have the things I want. If I take another job that pays less but has more security then once again I wont get what I want.

I knew I didn't want that helpless feeling of having all my resources in the wallet of someone else ready to be ripped away at thier whim. I also know my value as a human being is far greater than that of being a salesman.

Before I start this paragraph please do not read to much into what I say about myself, I am not cocky and if it appears I am it is not my intent.

My whole life I have been "ahead of the curve" if you will. During school when they took tests to measure a childs mental ability I would always score very high. I was placed years ahead in math and by grade 10 was in a special class doing first and second year university material. I scored the highest grade in the school on my final paper for English (English class is named because it includes reading comprehension and writing papers and essays, it is manditory for all students in Canada). On IQ tests I scored near genious.

With all that said I put all my time and effort into sports and mechanical classes. I did not think ahead or possibly did not have the mental capacity to think about my future. I failed to understand the financial world and therefore thought I was going to have plenty of money and all the things I wanted by just being a very good automotive mechanic. I had great skill as a mechanic and recieved a scholarship for it. I thought little about all other school classes and never gave a full effort (although always scoring good in the classes themselfs).

Once I finished school and was working as an apprentice I was badly injured in a auto accident and could never work in that or any other physical industry again. This was definately a curse and also a blessing. Through this I was introduced to a company that sold investments and insurance and although I hated selling I figured it was the only door open to me at the time. Because of this I learned the insides and outsides of the financial world and have a vast knowledge of them. This knowledge probubly saved my financial future through key investments I made that will make me financially free between 2018 and 2021.

Although I hated selling I kept trying and failing. I was the nice guy who told people what they really needed, even if it didn't benefit me. After 2 years I stopped working there for more reasons than that but that was the main one. I got a job a few months later selling gravel for decent money. Once again it was selling but the difference was that this time I sold to people who wanted and needed the product. I liked that. Unfortunately I hated a fixed income and long hours. The first post of this blog picks up where that left off.

So I came to some conclusions on the trip. I have two choices. The first is what I consider the easy way out. Take a job as a long haul truck driver. work 16 hour days 5 days a week which will pay for a wedding, a house, and kids. The other is to become a true "professional" poker player. This is the option I would love to go after but I already realize its too easy to go after it without any restrictions.

So here is my short term plans.

August is a short month due to the trip. It becomes a freeroll for me to build my bankroll as big as possible. My goals for the month are still the same but more pressure has been put on me by me because I know I do not want to stay in limbo for the next 5 years.

September will be where the real rubber meets the road. The target is $2000 US from strickly online fixed limit. No excuses, if I do not make $2000 I will pack up my dreams of a poker career until January 2015.

If I make $2000 in September then I will give myself October-December to prove to myself I can make real money playing poker. All of Septembers winnings will be a bankroll booster. From here on out every month I require myself to produce $3200 US. There are a few reasons for this. I need 3200 dollars a month to live the life I want at this point. The reason it has to be all online and tracked is because banks and government like to see records of consistancy before they are willing to loan you money for mortgages. Every dollar after $3200 goes into bankroll building for those 3 months.

If I do not complete these goals the alternative is long haul truck driving. It earns about 100k a year but requires you to have a minimal life. It is not he long term solution but it is a solution to get me what I want in the next year. There are no if ands or buts about this, these are my two best options.

If I make it through this year with poker then there are going to be things I want to do in 2010 regarding my mental abilities. I think at this point my most potential would be in the math sector possibly mechanical engineering. Continueing to build my mind through university may be an option. I'll get into more of that in the long term plans. As for right now I realize that this post has taken over an hour to write and I still havent given my update for today so I should probubly do that and continue the rest tomorrow/another day.

Today was my first day back and I didn't expect much to be quite honest. I figured I'd break even getting my mind back to working mode. I also realized that 6 tables is too slow. My concentration began fading and I soon thereafter added 4 more tables and it worked well for me. I also got the Pokerstars reload bonus today, so that should add a nice $300 to the bankroll when I complete it.

Because its 2AM and I cant find my link for the hand posting right now, I'll just tell you that I got a royal flush for the first time with two hidden cards. Its a great feeling to know you have the absolute Jesus nuts and when your opponent 4 bets you on every street it feels even better. I won $27.50 on the hand, not bad for a 1/2 FL game.

Today was the same old. My graphs for the day always look like valleys or mountains, always ending somewhere around small profits. If anyone has any input on how to avoid this it would be helpful. My idea is to not look at HM so I dont know how I'm doing. This keeps my mind from telling myself I'm doing great or bad and allows me to continue to play my A game as if each hand is independant.

Now here is the hand I told you about yesterday.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$1/$2 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J:h, Q:h.
UTG1 calls, UTG2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 raises, 3 folds, Hero calls, UTG1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (8.5 SB) K:s, A:h, K:h (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG1 checks, MP1 checks, MP3 bets, Hero calls, UTG1 calls, MP1 folds.

Turn: (5.75 BB) 8:s (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG1 bets, MP3 raises, Hero calls, UTG1 3-Bets, MP3 calls, Hero calls.

River: (14.75 BB) T:h (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG1 raises, MP3 folds, Hero 3-Bets, UTG1 caps, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 22.75 BB.
Results follow:

Hero shows a royal flush(J:h Q:h).
UTG1 shows a full-house, kings full of tens(T:d K:d).

Hero wins with a royal flush(J:h Q:h).

It always feels good to get that hand. As for profiting everyday, thats always a good thing. It would be great if I had other means of income. Unfortunately I need to make MORE profit than I am. Hopefully with more play this will come. With m girlfriend going back to work next week I will have more time to play.

Also I realize that the last two points about the markets and poker yesterday are too long for blog posts. In fact I probubly have enough information on the subjects to write a short book. I haven't decided the best way to get this information across to everyone but when I get my ideas down on paper I'll find a way to get it to you.

Here is todays sub par stats.

Its one of those days where you dont know if you should laugh or cry. I punched stuff and pleaded to God to make one of my draws hit. At one point today I had gone 16 straight open enders or flush draws without hitting in a row. I played great, I wasn't card dead, but by the time every flop came I was behind. It was one of those days that Waiboy must have :P

I'll post my hands that I felt needed to be marked, there is a few mistakes in them but for the most part just sick bad luck.

There was another hand that I dominated that I had marked but for some reason it wont convert. Now here are my last 2 played hands for the day.

This is one where I had a decent starting hand, figured I'd have a good chance. When I saw the flop I concluded I had a good chance at a redraw flush. I'll let the hand do the rest of the talking.

And then my last hand of the day. When I saw the flop I tilted a bit. I called down the turn just because, but figured I had 2 outs and since it was the last hand of the day I didn't care. When I hit one of the two outs I thought no one could call down with an gutshot. I figured at worst I was up against trip Aces but more likely two pair. Here is the last slap in the face for the day.

So with that tragedy now out, I will go over my long term plans. As I said before I made the 600 dollar deposit to get the redeposit bonus of 300 dollars. I have decided this will be my last deposit for at least a year.

If I fail I will work and not play poker, period. It wont even be played as a hobby until I get a full time job. My bankroll is now at about 800 with a 300 dollar bonus to come, but I will keep you updated with my previous 500 bankroll for now.

It was one of those days that Waiboy must have :P

Unfortunately I can't say I don't know what you mean. :f_rolleyes:

I usually start laughing after a while when I get raised on the river by the fish that has hit their raggy two pair for the 8th time in a row. It's either that or shrug my shoulders and leap off the balcony. Fortunately I'm pain averse so the laugh has always been the outcome to this point! :f_p:

Just refocus, work on your game, know when you're playing correctly or incorrectly, and grind away. It sounds to me like you've got your head in the right space most of the time... which is clearly important when you are putting so much on the outcome of your play.

GL fella!

Yeah Waiboy thanks for the refocusing advice. I'm actually taking off the weekend just for that purpose. I plan on putting in 5 8 hour sessions next week which should mean 22000ish hands.

To relax I'm playing FL SnGs. They are actually quite fun, and it seems rather profitable. I'm 5/6 in heads up and 2/2 with 1 first and 1 second in full ring.

Anyways I'll put in a few more before I go out with my friends tonight.

Long time no update.

The reason for this is the night of the last day I posted, I recieved a call from my best friend to tell me we where going on an "emergency" camping trip and that I had to be ready to leave in the morning.

Anyways the trip was good except one hospital visit (these things happen when you go all out while camping) but once again I had lots of time to think about my play. If I'm going to be completely honest I'm very unhappy with my results and almost as unhappy with the process.

It seems everytime I add more tables I lower my winrate. Lately I've been playing 10-16 at a time and my winrate has dipped into -EV. I realized my optimal play comes when I play 4 tables and I can see all my cards to give them some prior thought.

Another problem I have is that I have made specific goals on number of hands to play. This isn't working for me personally. Number of hands doesn't pay me, winning does. These are thoughts I've had and am going to act on them.

hi Verre;

I've just read last few posts (the longest I've ever seen on this forum) and I have a lot to say, but i'm afraid I'll forget the most..

If you're going for winnings and not for number of hands, 4 tabling >>> 12 tabling! Of course you've already realized that, but I believe there's no reason to mass-grind @ 1/2, if your goals require you to play at least (!) 1 limit higher (or 2 if you wont multitable a lot). SO my advice is to play up to 6 FR tables, move up and then start to add more and more tables, when it'll become profitable. Personally, I play 12 SH tables, but there's no chance to win 50% of what I get from rakeback (Mansion loyalty system), so for me it's more +EV than playing for winrate... The only bad thing is I stick myself to these limits and don't improve my game too much. (that will change hopefuly)

But, much more important thing I wanted to mention: DO NOT set yourself such short term goals like you did for September ever! You can say: "I'll play 30k hands next month", "I'll try to play 6hrs/day except weekends" etc, because these are the ones you have some influence on. You can't beat variance because you say you need to win $xxxx. In fact, I remember streaks of 50k b/e hands (and even longer in red numbers), so if you're not going to play 200k hands in September (which should beat variance), you can't influence how much you'll win.

"September will be where the real rubber meets the road. The target is $2000 US from strickly online fixed limit. No excuses, if I do not make $2000 I will pack up my dreams of a poker career until January 2015." I'm sorry man, but have to say it: Are you fucking crazy?! Look at your BR right now... Sure, you can grind and make even more in a month @1/2, but why?? Variance hits you and you're done... even you can be able to make twice as much during normal month.. Don't do stupid things and focus more on your attitude, concentrate on your game and play tons of hands if you want, but don't make long term decision based on short term results. Don't forget: It's all about luck in the short term; it's all about skills in the long term.

I believe you will do that, will earn much more in the near future, but in the case you won't, don't give up!

Good luck at the tables!

Nice post opal99. _cool:

I used to think 10k hands would give you a good approximation of winrate.. then 20k hands. But when you consider the impact a 1k hands heater can have on your winrate (or conversely, 1k hands in Suckout City) over that number of hands, then really you need a massive sample size to confirm your winrate.

ATM I'm getting pwnd at 5Max $.25/$.50 on bwin - down ~90BB. And this is v the biggest fish I can remember playing. I've only played 3k hands against these dudes. What I now realise is that until I've played 20k hands I should pretty much just ignore my BR and winrate (BRM considerations aside). Well, TBH, at this limit v these players I'm pretty much going permenantly ignore my results because there is no doubt they're due, to a substantial degree, to variance.

Thanks for the input guys. Its much appreciated.

Setting the goals for the monthly profit is inevitable as I MUST have income next month. I will no longer set hand goals for myself, and I will also not have set hours to play. If I feel like playing at 11pm till 6am I will. I dont need to play from 8am to 5pm everyday. Also my bankroll for live poker is upwards of 2500 bucks. I need to use this to make profit, not 500 bucks online.

What I am going to do is 4 table 2/4 FR tiled. I'm going to play when I want as long as I'm putting in enough time to make real profit. If I'm not playing enough I need to buckle down on time played per day/week.
