Long time since positive day in cash :)

Actually I should win like 5 stacks per day to compensate my losses at NL20.

NL10 normal tables was easy to play, no doubts that I am not beating it.

And october told me once again that I do not beat NL20 even normal tables :(

Or I am getting terrible downswing. But what is more likely downswing or bad play?

I would say more likely is usually bad play. Anyway even if it was downswing, it´s better to think that u play bad and need to get better, because that´s gonna move you forward :).

Yea, more likely bad play, especially that I havent ever beat NL20.

But I do not agree that its better to think you play bad when you dont, because you loose confidence, do not put in as much volume to overcome variance and so do not win money fast.

Well, I lose confidence even if I lose because of variance. It´s probably because I´ve been playing poker for 6 months only and haven´t got much experience so far. Anyway I mean it in this way. Somebody might say, ok I´m on downswing, but it ain´t my fault and he keeps playing. On the other hand, if he has the attitude, I need to get better and in spite of that started to learn theory once again - because as we all know, when we win, studying moves to background - it improves your game very much imo.

poker weekend went nice :) especially good that NL20 was positive.

Took a w34zel coaching on monday, so now trying to implement stuff in my game.

Yesterday was not that lucky, lost 1 stack at NL20, but today won about 2 stacks.

21/11 141h

Today NL20 b/e and NL10 lost 16 eur. Not worrying too much about NL10. But good thing that so far they do not crush me at NL20.

Btw also started again thining a ton about other investments - real estate, stocks, forex. One poker friend recommended to listen book - rich dad poor dad, I bought it.

And we talked with this friend and I am so inspired to have financial independence now

So that I could even stop work and survive. No need too much luxury but just survive without working.

So then I could stop worryign about jobs.

And also - first I was thinking - why do I need big salary in job? Big salary means hard working. But if I get big salary and just buy luxury like expensive cars - its a waste of life by working hard and haivng health issues, being less happy.

I believe that luxury car makes me temporary happy, but this goes away after some time. When I was on upswing at jobs, I thouth about buyig a car for 4k eur or so, which is waste of money actually in my current financial situation - when I had not created financial independence.

I had bought car before for 2k eur. Glad that I did not sold it and did not buy for 4k.

THis current car is not terrible, and it works fine with minor fixes from time to time.

Also selling my car would also be bad, cuas I invested money into fixing and upgrading stuff in it, so for me it is worht now like 3k, but when one guy asked - ffor how much you sell this, I say - you will not pay it anyway. He still asks price. I say - I might consider for 3k. For me it would be just breakeven. He just laughed, that price is too big.

Yea, good luck buying as fixed car and as upgraded - for cheaper. But he cannot believe that I had fixed, for example now the oil is not going away fast, I am not even sure after the oil leakage fix - if I had at least once to fill up the oil.

But there is one problem. For poker there is lack of time. Now if I want to learn other investment, I need even more time.

Only bit difference is that - in poker I have to play. In other investments - I have to buy and then I can go do smth else, like play poker.

But at least for start still need to get knowledge at least basic one.

One thing which makes so much sence after listening part of book is - start investing during crisis. Which makes sense. Actually I had to invest in stocks at least small amounts at crisis during 2008 or so.
And I would have been done so probably if not one thing - I invested in like 2006-2007 when economy was high and for that time - big amounts of money for me. Like 200 eur or so. And then crisis

So I stopped investing cause I thgouth I have too little knowledge ,which is true. But still with that little knowledge could do good if I knew.

Now crisis might be soon if to believe Robert Kiosaki, and also crisis happens periodically.

So in case there is crisis, I think even with my little knowledgge, I should buy some stocks, for money which is ok to loose. Like 100 eur. Or 50 .

Might happen that I buy during crisis and loose.because grapsh goes even more down.

But if stocks go even more down, proabbly you still have to buy, cause the more down they go, the more undervalued they are and more likely you win.

But its scary. But we have to accept risks to win, as in poker.

And actually now there are crisis for example in Ukraine. I am thinking maybe I should buy stocks there for small amount of money. The problem is that about ukraine marked I know even less.

About Lithuanian marked I know at least a little bit.

So not sure, this would likely be a gamble .But not pure gamble - I still know some information - that in ukraine is crisis.

Heh, I had to be in bed 35 min before, but the book and friend inspired me to thing so much.

The book ilustrated very well how it feels to work for somebody else. And I see in real life. It looks that I have 5 years of experience so I should feel good and companies should be happy about me and be afraid to loose me. But still it feels like I am not crushing the job marked at my "limit" (salary). And I do not feel that companies are afraid to loose me.

And in the book it ilustrated standard worker, even very profesional, educated one - professor. He asks a raise but he does not get. He studies harder, and still not get.

He would like to do what he likes and have a good living. He has ok living, but he is not as financially secure.

Also book writes example of how a writer hates sales people, so she does not want to do sales, and so she is not making best seller book.

And the book author says - he is not good at writign, but he made a best seller Because he has selling skills.

And the he compared it with gym. FOr him - gym is boring stuff and he does not want to do it. But he wants the benefits what gym gives so he still goes there. Same with selling - accordign to the book - everyone have to learn selling. Then combined with the thing what we like - we can do better financially.

And also now there is different motivation to earn a bigger salary in job - to sooner go out of so called rat race. FInancial independence motivates me more than to work hard to buy a luxury car.

Probably its the longest post in my blog so far

Hi SPeedFANat1c,
About the hand:

He was playing like that because he figured you likely had a flush, but he had outs to beat you. To raise for him would be overplaying, and to fold would be throwing away a very good opportunity.

About cars:
Somebody once said to me, "The cheapest car to buy is the one you have".

We have a 2006 Chev and a 1994 Honda.

The 2006 has needed a few repairs recently, so we thought about getting a replacement, so we went shopping.

After looking over a few cars we had some choices.

I said to the salesman:
"Let's pretend we have no car, and you offer us this car for $24,000, this one for $28,000 and we can have this old, crappy 2006 Chev for free".

"We'll take the free one."

Suppose your car breaks down. It isn't really a car any more. It is a heap of metal, rubber and plastic that takes space in your driveway.

Now pretend that you are buying that car -- in working order -- for the price of repair. Would you?
If yes, then repair it happily.
If no, then scrap the car happily.

I once had a 1994 Mazda 626. Lovely car. It had 320,000 km on it, and the transmission started to slip. The cheapest estimate I could get was around $2000 to fix the transmission, so I called the scrap guy.

Good blog, it is always interesting...

Here his fcbet was 80 OOP. So I isolated light to win cbet. But he donked 1 bb, called raises few times before, once saw he folded on turn barrel.

Wanted to try bigger raise how it works with GS + backdoors. He frequent donkbets looked weak. Maybe this time he got a draw or so.

Here again bluffs did not work. Was thinking about third bar, but I have aso some sd value and did not believe he will fold often this time caise he might have completed draws. On the other hand on this board maybe Jx would have folded. But maybe fish would not notice the board. Maybe vs like pot size bet he could fold.

here same guy who was donking a ton. River I think good fold with a staright. It was hard, cause his agression frequency on river was like 80 %. But w34zeld told to not look at river afq. So I did and folded my weak straight. There are better straights and fullhouses.
Bit tough fish with such agression, felt like no regs were able to get money from him, he kept having full stack, I needed to sleep, so stopped play.

Also 1 posibility could have been to xc river, hoping that he bluffs, with busted draws, or even a pair. BUt there is also a risk to miss value.

ran good at NL20 today :) would have played more, but one eye hurts bit from screen too much so need to rest I think.

Btw yesterday was at casino with friends. THere was a bonus - you buy for 5 eur, and get 15 eur to gamble - 5 eur on slot machines and 10 eur on roulette, plus 3 free beers. Not so bad :)

We tried slot machines, it was terrbile, not hooking at all. It also feels taht you cannot trust, and you do not even know the probabilities - what is the chance.

With roullete even when you know that you loose, at least you know probabilieties.

And my plan was - hit and run

I hear so many people say - you go to the casino to loose money. I decided - I get good odds for first bonus, so ok, free beer , even if I loose those 5 eur, its not much lost :)

And there were possible to do 3 bets on roulette from those 10 eur - 3, 3 and 4 eur. I bet on red all the time and won twice. Now I can cacshout 7 eur :) so 2 eur profit.

Too bad that I came to casino after already drank 3 beers, so did not use all my free beer, just used one of 3.

My friends were asking so much that I bet again from those won 7 eur. My goal was different. I wanted to prove to me and others that in casino you do not necessary come to loose, if you have will, even playing games which are designed to loose.

If I had lost those money like gambler then I would not have felt as good about myself, I would feel like I am weak and hooked on this stuff.

And also, when we just entered, ordered beer, I wanted so quickly to gamble on roullete, that my friends even started thining that I will get hooked and will loose lot of money one say - ok, we came here, you loose 5 eur and thats it. I say yea, of course.

the fun part is to see how other people bet huge sums of money on roulette and have fun, maybe there were some business man who those money do not look like big. Also another guy just played alone, he looks like degenerate. Saw that he has nice watch, maybe he is rich. But it looked like he lives there. When he comes alone to gamble, how does he see fun, I do not get.

Another fun part was - we all 3 were programers and started talking near roulette where that gambler hears also - about probabilities and other stuff, that its not possible to win here

IN that casino there was no poker, so did not try. THere was some different poker, where you probably do not have edge, just house wins, and even when I came to that table, they said its reserved.

I recommend to go there, and see the casino life, its interesting.

What I did not like that there are drunk people who trash talk - we just entered in casino and one started using not nice words. But the casino worker said to him to not talk like this and he stopped, so at least casino workers were good.
Maybe next time they would care less, cause we were not most profitable clients my friends lost bit but its a very small comparing to how much others were betting.

Also when we were near roulette and some guy did lots of bets, there was talk about zero, and he said to my friend - bet on zero with my chip, and then we split the winning yea, right my friend bet, but instantly replied if you win its all your :) and then we went away from roulette, who knows, maybe its some mafia, even talking nice.

But yea, if you play poker in casino, there is high chance that you have to play with mafia. Or maybe I am wrong ? Because it does not feel very good to do things with those guys, especially if you are winning player.

Oh, and my friends were so untrusting roullete, maybe its cheating also. I think that they do not need to cheat - my firends were also exmaple of gamblers - when they win they bet again, so casino knows that usually people bet agian until loose, probably most people do like this. So even without cheating, usually money which people decided to loose - casino will take :) and even more than decided initially

Have you got a anti glare filter for your screen? That helps me when my eyes start playing up.

Have you got a anti glare filter for your screen? That helps me when my eyes start playing up.

No I dont but I have gunnar glasses which do the same as I understand.

Also I am not sure if those glasses are good, cause they have zooming effect of 0.25 do not know in what units its meassured, while my eyes do not need any zooming.

But it is a default for gunnars. It feels nice to see everything bit bigger and bit easier for the eyes, but arent eyes getting used to it?

But I do not used them at work at least, only when play poker.

Maybe since its default, then it does not harm. They sound like a serious company, but who knows.

WHen I gave to test those glasses to a guy who needs reall zooming, he did not even notice that my gunnars zoom in.

Oh also some sweat money from the reg, really unexpected his holding:

From SPeedFANat1c's post...
No I dont but I have gunnar glasses which do the same as I understand.

Also I am not sure if those glasses are good, cause they have zooming effect of 0.25 do not know in what units its meassured, while my eyes do not need any zooming.

Hi SPeedFANat1c,
Gunnar glasses help with contrast, not glare -- this is from their website.
Yes, they have a slight magnification.
The 0.25 unit is dioptre. Here is the Wikipedia article that explains dioptre

From the Magnifying Lamps Guide
To find the magnification level of a lens, simply divide its diopter by 4, and add 1.

So your 0.25 lenses provide a magnification of 1.06x -- not a lot.

I use some cheap imitation Gunnars, and find that although I can see the screen just fine, they help with clarity.

If you're experiencing eye strain, make sure that your monitor is at the level. You should be able look straight it when your head and neck are relaxed.

All the best,
VS

do I missunderstand something?

Also, I think why only one eye hurts. And noticed that desk lamp had been turned the way that I could see small amount of bulb, which I did not notice, becuase lamp is on the left side and I focus to the monitors. But still even if you focus your loooking to monitors, still you see what is on the side.

And so maybe I was seeing that small amount of bulb long time and because of bright light eye could start to hurt. Its not constant, but from time to time.

So I turned my lamp so that I could not see that small part of bulb. BUt need to wait now till I see result.

You should be able look straight it when your head and neck are relaxed.

I change the positions, so sometimes its straigth to it, sometimes not.

If feels so waste of time to rest eyes, I want to do something that I could improve. But in poker from audio alone I guess I cant improve. I done sports. Maybe I could search for more audio material on how the real estate business work or stocks.

More important thing is financial independence, so not as important is it from poker or somewhere else but also I do want to focus on more narrow things. And with poker you are not that independant, you depend a lot on government and poker rooms which did not build good trust so far so still you have to know something else besides poker also.

Programming is one of them, but I studied recently programming, read a book, so now I want to take a break from it until there is no rush to learn smth and study other things. And anyway, audio also is probably not the most efective way to learn programming, but you can find some news or smth like that in podcasts.

Also there is psychology stuff which is usefull, lot of audio content. But it is most boring thing from those, and hard to find good materials from lots on the internet. Just recently read and listened "How to win friends and influence people" - this looks good, I am applying stuff from it and I think it helps. Not much influencing, but at least increasing likelyhood to make and keep friends.

Oh and I tried to rest that eye by putting cap on my head in such way that one eye is closed And I feel when I touch it - it is hotter than the other eye. So I made wet handkerchief and put on it and on top - the cap, so that it would cool it down.

Thanks for that -- I should have checked their website.
I had last looked a year or more ago, so they may have updated their description (or I just remembered wrong).

Peace,

thats how to (not ?) win money

saw today from my saved hands that mbml said if you cbet for value, then you call a raise. So implemented this. Usually I fold in such cases.

But his example was IP and not PP but, some 2nd pair with kicker which means it has higher chances to improve.

So not sure abou this really :) But BVB there should be a lot of bluffs.

Also over total 146 hands sample - this raise vs cbet was first, which increases chance that its a value raise. But fold to cbet IP was 17.

I was thinking about why my eye left one hurted. Maybe its the cause of my desk lamp too bright?

I bought 1300 lumens LED lamp, cause I thought since my eye get tired, maybe its too little light.

Also I meassured with the phone app - how much light I have with lamps at night, and how much at daytime. And at daytime it is still more light than with few lamps.

But the difference is that daylight is more equal in all areas, while desk lamp is close to monitor, wall, and maybe even the wall reflects bright light - wall is darker yellow.

So maybe it is the cause. And why left - because lamp is on the left of my desk.

So maybe I should move it bit away from the computer. I do not want to by now weaker bulb :) and plus maybe I still need to lighten up my room more, because it felt when I was not having bright lamps, its too dark and makes eyes tired.

I do not even get how some people can use computer without lights and not get eyes tired.

Silly question. Have you been to a optician as it seems to be a problem with only your left eye. If your eyes were tired would it not affect both eyes?
