[x] Clash of Strategies!

Saturday was not a day worth mentioning concerning Poker, I only played for Ironman, went to a party, almost got into a fight with douche-bags and had some fun in the Pubs
Sunday on the other hand, was a day to regain some Volume into my PokerPlay. Looking at my Agenda, I got a Party on Wednesday,Thursday & Saturday this week. Nice!
Somehow, Someway I managed to lose due domination, coolers - whatevah on NL50 while NL100 goes smoothly for me on iPoker. Since the sample is so low, I cannot conclude this for my whole Month but surely this day was like ''yeh nice hand 20/18 guy who steals decently but has AQo against my AJs :>''
Yes once again, I played on a 200NL table but my BR there reaches $1k (If I cash in points, I surely have 1.2k *hehe*)
The Rigged Hand above this post (AAvsKKvsQQvsTT , sick..) was awesome
I was thinking about a third session on iPoker but I decided that 3 sessions (2 Ipoker + 1 FTP) was enough for a Hangover Sunday.
I decided to take it easy and decide based on the table activity whether to play 200NL or 100NL SSS. Tables of 200NL are in general more filled with {good?} regs but since my coverage on 100NL was lacking, sometimes choose 200NL because I got all the data available.
This time I chose NL100 to just get the Ironman points and play my own game + experimenting a bit.
In my opinion, I had the table all in control - playing MY Game instead of adapting to Regs. There were fewer regs on Nl100 so that's a big plus!
I was satisfied about my play so the results didn't mattered, still increase my bankroll is nice
Tough I played 8.8/7.9 on the tables, it felt that I was playing like 11/10 what I normally play like
I was also thinking about when to switch because SSS is really itching since I am playing non stop, that's okay I mean that's what I wanted/announced for the Month June.
Since July is also a non-school month, I can easily learn BSS with my mind, body & soul and see how it goes. I think I just start on 25NL FTP and then gradually move up to 100NL FR
There is a lot of content available here for BSS. Vids, Coachings, Discussions, Sample Hands
Meaning I switch to BSS in July does not mean I will throw SSS in the bin forever.. I still need it for the Mid-Year Bonus on FTP
I think after 1 year and 2 months learning, playing, sleeping, thinking about SSS is enough. I still maintain the coachings/sample hands ofcourse but actively moving up to 400NL and up is a no-go for Gerv!
Even though I only made like $100~ , Im still satisfied about Sunday.
Monday will be playing on iPoker on Mansion (due Happy HOurs). I still have 25k points there and if I qualify for Pro VIP level again, I get a 30k points boost enough to buy me another Ray-Ban, I mean come on, you get Respect on the streets for it here ♦
Concerning RaisyDaisy: I think I will make a post about Lifestyle & Poker , if you disagree or have another subject you would like me to write about. Feel free to drop a post here
Tuesday 22:15 CET Fongie's Coaching, all come please! ♦

Hey Gerv. I see you are seriously thinking of switching to BSS. Why do you think moving to NL400 and up with SSS is not for you?
I think too that i'd rather play at NL50, NL100 BSS then NL400 SSS.
After all like they say you have to switch to BSS sonner or latter.
I think i'll try BSS as soon as i'll have BR for NL25 BSS.
Good luck.

@ Primzi
Yeah beat it you ♠_evil:
@ RockEye
Lack of Traffic, bunch of Regs and thus HIgh Variance. NL400 Regs are mostly not TAGfish but decent players who know when to adjust (Or are just kamikaze against me thus spewing) However this results in high swings.
on a Limit of 400NL and up, Scared money also plays a role I think. I think it will influence my decisions since I would be shoving $80 in his face.
Although my BR can take a hit ($7k~) , it is simply a Risk-Averse decision for me.
If I had to choose $80 without risks or Flip a coin with the result of winning is $160 for me and losing is zero, I would take the $80 directly although in the long term, it has the same expected value.

[x] Hunt You Down..
I will fight forever
I won't surrender
And I will always
Hunt You Down.
Quick newsflash: There has been some rumour about a Bot on FullTilt NL100 FR, I quickly checked my DB and I had 25k hands on NL25 and 59k hands on NL100 of him. Sadly I saw exact similiarities like VPIP/Aggression Flop etc. which concerns me a lot.
Moreover this guy plays 15,000 hands a day. A DAY?! South Koreans ...
Let's start with FullTilt first because the loss I had to endure was solely created by my own faults. Quickly moved down from 200NL to 100NL since I made a huge error during a hand. 2 limpers and I raise to 5bb on Hijack with A:sQ:d
UTG limper raised all-in for 50bb thus 20bb effective. I looked up at the Equity chart, seeing at AKo, I have the break-even equity. I then called and saw him also having Ace King. BUt wait... I told you I had AQo ?
Yes I had AQo and I already though that we were splitting the pot. Turns out my call was -EV against his range
So moving down to 100NL, i felt Butchered by the Fish, it wasn't a really good day on FullTilt and I suspect them from having heard my conversation with KingDippy "♦ ♦

So let's all look together what the damage was although Im pretty damn sure I will recover since I was playing my D- or C-game yesterday evening:
2.5 stacks 100nl, 2 stacks nl200 conclusions: holla holla
The limp/call squad had their momentum this session:
SSfish limp/called 9:h7:h Pot+2bb and flops FD+TopPair while I flop 2 OCs+BDFD and with the necessary cBet, I could call +EV
23bb stacked overlimp 7:h7:c on mp3 and calls my 5bb raise on BTN - he obviously flops a set and I flop TPTK, cooler!
I lost a couple of flips as well so I don't have to worry about those:
BB ccalls mp1 oR Pot with T:c 9:d, flop comes T:s 8:s 6:s and Hero holds A:s K:d
BB dBets $5 into a pot of $9 and I shove for $14, he calls and we Flip.
I say it will come on Tails, unfortunately it comes on Heads. FML ♦
Prior to this, I played a Happy Hour session on Mansion NL50 lasting 95 minutes which was really exhausting because prior to that, I played 2 sessions after each other (So I played form 18:00 till 21:45 non stop)
and I already played 1 in the afternoon.
Things were really heating up and I quickly left the iPoker skin I used to play since I don't want to be Doomswitched
All were played on NL50 respectively!
NL50 was a good metagame to play during those hours, Lots of Fishy tables, lots of idiots and lots of money to be earned
So SSS is just a patience game, you wait, you get rewarded
So will it happen too with FullTilt that's why I don't worry about that.
What I do worry about is playing my C-game... like yeh wtf
Tuesday will be attending a BSS coaching + playing some more
It is raining here so no outside activities I guess

Primzi, stop putrefying my Blog plz, you can make your own one and stuff.
As part of the reorganization of my plans coming July (BSS
), I cashed out $2k from FTP since I don't need it.
This is a consequence of me restricting myself to only play 100NL SSS to just clear bonuses and pwn the Fish. 200NL is only viable during weekends IMHO. Especially when you already played 3 sessions, and your last one is FTP..
Ah well, all will fall on its place
As Kurt Angle says:
''I got the 3 Is, Intensity, Integrity and Intelligence''
Gerv
I see now. I was asking myself too, how the hell can SSS be played at limits NL400 and higher, when we all know that there are a lot less fishes at those limits. I you ask me one can make a very nice profit playing on NL100 SSS or i'd rather play tournaments or SNG's then fighting those regulars. ♦
Tell me something. How do you get that metagame statistics? Is it spadeye or HEM?

[x] Rebirth

The last real update was like 1 week ago and the last RaisyDaisy update was like 3-4 weeks ago, hmpf :<
Things that I've been doing were mostly parties & socializing among people. I only played on FTP to get the Ironman points but even there it was climbing a mountain for the very first time, not fun!
Yesterday though, I played very well with the correct mindset -> Just play your best, that's the only thing you have control of!
I left iPoker for what it was during these periods because I prefer a good time on FTP rather than grinding my ass off. I still have troubles of taking iPoker as if it was rigged already and stuff...
Stupid me!
The same things that causes me to lose hands while I played the best I could also happened at FullTilt so what am I whining during sessions ?
For the people who want to know my EV-line: it's positive .. I DONT CARE
The same goes for Full Tilt, positive EV line (way above the original line) for the people who are interested in that

I sometimes have to giggle a bit about Goals and in particular these kind of goals:
Goals of Next month: Getting a better winrate than 3bb/100 or Earning at least twice as much than previous month
No offense but this is ri-donk-ulous! Especially with SSS or any other high variance game, If you have a 7bb/100 winrate over x hands, congratulations but does that mean you play well? to sustain it in the next 1, 2 no wait three months?
Monetary goals are in my opinion overrated and dangerous.
I think it is because 1) You have limited power to achieve Monetary goals; You only have the power to significantly affect your results LONG-Term.
Additionally What if you reached your Monetary Goal? What will you do next? Double the stakes for next month?
ánd what do you do or react if you FAIL to reach your Monetary goal? I quote from Poker Mindset: One of the ideas of setting a target is that if you fail, you can find solutions to do better. If you miss a monetary target at the poker table, then what can you do?
The only thing I can think about is Gambling to eventually reach it... Think about it
Last but not least, 3) Financial goals detract from your true goal. Your true goal is becoming better, faster, stronger, harder etcetera in your Poker Game. I think everyone agrees that a 10bb/100 winrate on NL10 is great and that if you can increase that, it even will be better.
But would you want to grind out NL10 with a 10-20bb/100 winrate or do you want to improve yourself to move up the limits, probably win less than on NL10 but in the long run, it will be more because you invest more time in becoming a better player plus you play against better players!
Never ever play a session with the solely reason that you want to Win the Money back you lost earlier today!
Now yesterday, I had an interesting hand which was really complicated to calculate my EV on the spot. Since we got enough time now
saw flop | saw showdown
UTG+1 ($7.10)
MP1 ($21.50)
MP2 ($100)
MP3 ($143.45)
Gerv (CO) ($18.50)
Button ($47.05)
SB/Squeezer ($100.50)

BB ($100)
UTG ($100)
Preflop: Gerv is CO with 8:d, A:d
5 folds, Gerv bets $3.50, Button calls $3.50, SB raises $14.50, 1 fold, Gerv ?
Let's do a step-by-step analysis of What do we know?
1) Obviously we are getting 3betted All-in thus we have 0% FE
2) The coldcaller is obviously a Fish
3) The squeezer defends his blind very actively
4) He instantly squeezed me so we maybe can filter out the marginal hands
5) Break-Even Equity assuming BTN folds = 25.175 : 15 = 37.3%
6) If we know due 4) that marginal hands are out of question we can reduce his range to 9 á 10%
7) a 10% range can either be 77+,AT+,KQ (Xarrys Chart) or 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo (Exactly Stove) or 66+, ATs+, ATo+ (Sklansky Hand Ranking)
Let's call Xarry's range *Alpha -- Exactly Stove *Beta and finally the Sklansky range *Gamma
Assuming BTN will fold we have:
ALPHA 77+,AT+,KQ
Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 64,096 % 62,395 % 3,402 % 34,204 % 77+, ATs+, KQs, ATo+, KQo
Player 2: 35,904 % 34,204 % 3,402 % 62,395 % Ad8d
BETA 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo
Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 61,951 % 60,622 % 2,657 % 36,721 % 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo
Player 2: 38,049 % 36,721 % 2,657 % 60,622 % Ad8d
GAMMA 66+, ATs+, ATo+
Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 67,255 % 65,392 % 3,726 % 30,882 % 66+, ATs+, ATo+
Player 2: 32,745 % 30,882 % 3,726 % 65,392 % Ad8d
So two out of 3 times, we have to fold here. Generally a Stove range is too wide to be accurate so here you go
But what if BTN was calling as well because of WTS of 44% and stuff? Does that change the equation? Yes because now we win more money with the same amount of investment. Unfortunately we cannot be 100% sure that BTN will call here due the good odds he gets.
That's is why a Squeeze is so powerful!
Now if we know BTN will call:
8) Our break-even equity will be then: ($1+$3.5+[18.5x2]*95) : 15$
= 27.5%
9) What kind of double-coldcall range can we give Fish? This is kind of hard to measure since we cannot determine a general range because every Fish plays different.
In this case I thought it was something like 21%:
44+, A7s+, K9s+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, A7o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo
We do not know if Fish slowplays Aces as well and that's anoter factor we have to be thinking about when we have to decide to shove A:d8:d here!
Using Equilator we get:
ALPHA 77+,AT+,KQ + Fish 21% Range complete
Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 31,742 % 30,089 % 3,615 % 66,296 % 44+, A7s+, K9s+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, A7o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo
Player 2: 25,091 % 23,412 % 3,668 % 72,920 % Ad8d
Player 3: 43,167 % 41,620 % 3,405 % 54,975 % 77+, ATs+, KQs, ATo+, KQo
What if we remove The top 2.5% (AK+QQ+) of his range?
ALPHA 77+,AT+,KQ + Fish 21% Range without AK+,QQ+
Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 29,403 % 27,749 % 3,622 % 68,629 % JJ-44, AQs-A7s, K9s+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, AQo-A7o, KTo+, QTo+, JTo
Player 2: 25,698 % 23,913 % 3,883 % 72,203 % Ad8d
Player 3: 44,899 % 43,364 % 3,384 % 53,252 % 77+, ATs+, KQs, ATo+, KQo
It only gives us 0.6% more equity, whoa?!
BETA 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo + Fish 21% Range without AK+,QQ+
We have 26.224% equity
GAMMA 66+, ATs+, ATo+ + Fish 21% Range without AK+,QQ+
We have 23.6% equity
Concluded: we had to fold this hand because the EV is negative. On the spot I thought I could pushed it but I was wrong!
A funny thing to note is that whenever we got ATs instead of A8s , we should have pushed this hand
