Well, pretty much what I thought would happen has happened... stuck to the $10 and am running bad... so now I go through the process of testing my confidence in my game... and yup, so far I am OK, 113 games into the $10.50s and there are 2 explanations for this. 1. My ITM conversion is low, sitting at around 35%... and my 3rd place finishes are a little higher than I would like. I am very happy with my bubble play so the only thing I will do is review my game and figure out if my 3rd places are due to mistakes/variance. Therefore in time my ITM figure will balance and as long as I keep the proper distribution in the top 3 finishings then the money will continue to flow in the right direction... mine...
Well, bad run continues, and it frustrated me a bit today and tonight... Its OK, just a bit tired overall so a good rest will help... But man the dealer hates me atm...

Hey Nick, nice pics! GL owning the variance fest!
Hey thanks! My wife asked me why there were only 2 from our wedding and 2 million of fish... so I told her I only spent 1 day getting married and a helluva lot more catching fish...
Anyway had another super frustrating session right now, but I finished up 4BI... so why was it frustrating, because I HATE 3rd place. My ITM has stabilised a good bit but my 3rds are waaaaaay too high, this is a problem, this is a sign of some leaks. And I suspect I know where they are. So the lizard and I will chat. We will be looking at my BB calling ranges and my hijack/co pushing ranges. These are the areas where I think I am too tight.
Hey nick nice to see you back ♦
One tip I will give you for super turbos is maintain your fold equity.
Sometimes taking a -EV shove to maintain your fold equity is the right thing to do.

Thanks... yeah absolutely! and that is why I wanna look at the situations where I'm in CO/HJ with 4/5BB cos I am convinced I am missing some +EV spots there for 2 reasons. 1 people give you a bit more credit when you shove in that spot and 2. People will fold too much even when they know you are pushing pretty wide... I have generally been able to shove wide from the SB... and recently I have been working on my BU ranges, but in order to protect my FE I cannot afford to miss out on +EV spots from CO/HJ.... and then there are the -EV shoves which I also need to work on, but I think I make more -EV shoves UTG or UTG+1 and miss out on +EV shoves in MP etc... But people folding too much is so sweet at times.... I love it!
I haven't played much in the last couple days... have had some work to get done so I only have played minimal amounts... I really didn't want to play too much though cos I had been feeling so so drained as well... I think it is just an effect of doing so much for so long without a chance to recharge... So yesterday afternoon I did some recharging... I went fishing for a couple hours, 5 mins from my house... and this is how it went...

All in all I netted 23 fish in 2.5 hours... now I feel recharged! I have some work to do, but am hoping to get a bit more volume in over the next few days (if I don't go fishing that is!)
Aaaaaand the dealer still hates me... ended my last session cos of the frustration and my inability to win a critical hand... It has been a sequence of the most frustrating scenarios poker can throw at you like flop a set, guy hits runner runner straight... AK v A-rag... XXXX-rag, AJ v KQ... JXX X Q... all one after the other... on top of that I seem to be collecting 3rd places and it just annpys me. I am going to assume something is horribly wrong and work on fixing it and grinding it out...

I don't have time to look for it now but in the earlier stages of I think Lennonac or Lessthan3's blogs I
posted a link to a FANTASTIC site regarding super turbos. All kinds of amazing information and ranges
to use and just theory and more.
I will scoure through both of those blogs and try and find it for you when I get time. It sould help your
playing ability no matter what level you are at skill wise.
I hope your bad run ends soon!! I have a curse with not placing first and getting second all the time.
Well it feels like a curse but in truth its prolly not so bad.
GL!
Thanks 897... I use that site a lot... first looked at it when you posted it
Like I mentioned several posts back, the game will frustrate me, and all I need to do is vent every now and again... When it does I tend to spend more time analysing in SNG Wiz as well as thinking through tricky situations... I use my rough patches to motivate me to study, so they are a necessary evil... but I no longer take for granted that the bad run will end... it's something we see so often, words of encouragement "Oh you'll get an upswing soon!", but that's only in the case of a player being a winning player. So in my mind when I go through a bad run I do my damndest to refine my game and make sure I am a winning player, and I would like to be a decent one at that, cos it's just so much better that way! So I vent when the cards suck, but I also up the effort I put into my game as a result of it...
Well I remain curious about this limit... I see a ton of mistakes being made so I know there is a lot of money here to be extracted from the tables, but I still see myself having the proportions all a bit off... I have been working with the wiz and have made some changes, but I am gonna work a bit more at it and then I am curious to get a larger sample and see how it pans out. But I am noticing an improvement in my game... however atm I am not able to get into the sort of volume I would like, but that's OK, I figure now is the time to scrutinise my game and play what I can, cos once the ground changes colour the grind will be on!
Well I finally had a little burst which makes me feel better... still I am disgusted with the number of 70/30s I can lose in a row... but meh, sessions that end with 3 1sts in a row feel pretty good, and finally my roll seems to have broken through a ceiling I didn't seem able to break through for the longest time... tomorrow I am going fishing... allllllllll day.... can't wait... so that's that from me for now... I'll probably post a summary of results at the end of the month...
Well I was thinking about the past month and really it was OK... I have had some rotten rotten luck but I think I am holding things together... Here is my performance... First is "Lifetime" that is since I started playing superturbos... the next is purely Septembers graph...

In pure $$ terms it's nothing exceptional but I think this month it has been a case of getting back into the groove... I still went fishing a lot and had a bunch of other things to do, but I did get a bit more game time in, although 500 ST's in a month is still really low... come winter I am expecting to get at least 3-4x that each month. But, I am happy with my game right now, I feel it is pretty strong and now I need to build a better sample to really get in touch with how it is holding up.
Longish term I want to progress by reestablishing a solid roll at the $10.50s and get up to the $21s... there is no hurry though, but over winter I do wanna get some cash banked for next summer, as I have some serious fishing goals as well, and I will need some funding for that
For October I am looking to increase my volume... 1000 STs this month would be spectacular, however I don't really know if it is doable just yet... we'll see, I would be happy with 700 games... Other than that I aim to keep my game solid and keep tweaking it and refining it and hopefully I will ultimately generate a respectable ROI...
I am so so so frustrated right now... I cannot win a frikkin tournament... recent streak has had me ITM a decent % of the time but in the last 2 days I have had 1 win 10 2nds and 14 3rds... it pisses me off, as it further unbalances my overall stats... AAAARGH... yes I know small sample, meaningless yada yada... but seriously things like this concern me until they balance because I begin doubting my game and thinking about the finer points I have tweaked and the danger is becoming fearful of the dealer and passing up +EV spots... Arg... need a good night sleep, all is not lost, but I really wish I could get to the point where I know my game is as solid as I hope it is... it can can just be a rough ride getting there...
Well today is best forgotten... ran bad everywhere and then had a power failure when I had made session running at full capacity... then played again and had another table freeze up totally... emailed FT for a refund... then ran like crap again... dropped very very many BIs today... one of those days that tests our mental fortitude...
Would you believe that as I fired up my first session of the day and got close to capacity the power went out again?? My wife had company so I couldn't scream and yell... but instead I went and did something else and just relaxed... my roll has taken an unnecessary hit but it was really unavoidable... the power was off just long enough that my games were all over... and when I got back into my acct my roll was a touch higher than I anticipated... turns out I got a 3rd in one of my games while offline... skillz.
Anyway I decided to play a bit more but instead of playing my normal STs I played some micro PLO... it's kinda something I have been doing to take a poker break from grinding... and it's interesting... haven't studied PLO at all, but may do in the future... just now wanna get a feel for it and see... but not abandoning my grinding tho... I just finally finished my first solid session of the last couple days and managed to finish with some slight reparation to the roll...
Although my last few posts have been vent posts, my recovery time has been quick... just looking forward to achieving the sort of volume that'll make these few little mishaps a blip in the ocean...
Maybe some more grinding later...
OK, so feeling better about things... I have to say that despite everything I have been working on keeping my game as it is and seeing how things go... and in the last 2 days I have had a +38BI heater which feels good and reinforces my confidence levels... I am working on upping my volume, but with the Mrs not back at work yet after her surgery still my volume always seems to take a knock... that and I have been doing some odd jobs around the place as well as working on the house... and of course fishing... but I am looking toward my first 100SNG day and I would like to get to the point of regularly hitting 100+ SNGs in a day... But in order to do that I really do need the day to myself, so maybe not likely until things freeze up here...
Just played my most brutal session yet... got hammerred yesterday and today played 20 games and cashed in 2... It's heartbreaking, to see so many 3/4 outers... it feel like I attract them... working on the numbing process... just power through it... to get back to high volume I have to deal with this, no other way around it... time for a break tho... and I am going fishing this afternoon... distraction heals the mind... whew... that sucks... so hard...

If you got hammered yesterday, maybe you should have let the hangover die off before grinding 20 games today?
It is way more +EV not to play at all then it is to try and tough it out. Especially when booze is involved.
If you were hammered enough yesterday you may have even setill been playing a little drunk today.
GL climbing back.
(Just a little friendly humor to cheer you up.)
