OK, just checking... sometimes I miss the obvious and you know that :P

Anyway I took some time off, went fishing, did some yard work and now I have just finished reviewing that 20 game session in the wiz... and I feel ready to hit the tables... out of all the games I count 3 minor mistakes so all in all not bad... now it is time to power through..........

I have had entire sets of 12 bust out.

It happens rarely but the sinking feeling you get is unavoidable.

Glad you bounced right back. Humor is always a good medicine, the way your post was typed it looked
like you said you got hammered last night then played the next day so I figured I would make you laugh.

Epic fail by me.

How long untill fishing season ends?

I figure there are max 3 weeks left in fishing season... coldest part of the season though... I'm glad that it's still open cos poker is making me feel like puking... 48BIs almost straight down... I am in the red for the $10s... my game is not bad but really I feel as though I have a sign pinned to my forehead saying "call me, you'll win!"... And it's not even close, I am sick of being dead on the turn... ugh, it's brutal... a confidence destroyer... I look at the bustouts and really I can't justify any other action... break time...

Sounds like you may be being affected before your set is over.

Have you tried playing stacked so that you do not see the board run out?

It really helps me but when of course a set is going SOOO shitty you can't help but realize there
are only 3 tables open and you have not played a single hand 3 handed. Not to try and make you
change how you play your game, but suggesting an idea. It was a world of difference for me when
I was only focused on hands being played and not paying any attention to a decision made
besides what villain turned over after deciding. What the cards do after that they do.

It makes no real difference playing stacked or tiled... I prefer tiled so that I can prepare some decisions before-hand especially with those hands at or near the bottom of my range in various situations...

Yes it has been affecting me before the end of session, but still I know when to wind it down and in most situations the decision is still fairly straight-forward...

But this is how the $10s have treated me so far:

I could post a string of hands but it's isolated situations... I can handle running QQ into KK etc and bad beats, but when it happens so much without a break it crushes me... OK, I'll post one hand which will sum it up I hope... I had just been thinking that I have recently run AK into AA a lot, and I have... and then this...

No Limit Holdem Tournament
5 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com
$10 + $0.50 Sit&Go (Sup Turbo)

Stacks:
Hero (270)
UTG+1 (1,020)
CO (670)
BTN (480)
BB (260)

Blinds: 50/100

Pre-Flop: (100, 5 players) Hero is UTG A♦ A♥
Hero goes all-in 270, 2 folds, BTN goes all-in 480, 1 fold

Flop: 5♠ 6♣ K♣ (850, 2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: K♠ (850, 2 players, 2 all-in)

River: 2♣ (850, 2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: 850
BTN shows three of a kind, Kings
K♦ A♣
Hero shows two pair, Aces and Kings
A♦ A♥

BTN wins 850 (net +370)

Hero lost 270

I can barely remember a big pair JJ+ where I got called and won... normally they catch their 1 overcard on the river or flop trips... ugh, I can go on and on, but who want to read that... I will go back to reviewing my game cos it looks like I have some serious problems... I will assume that, but I will not give up...

With PT3 I don't have the EV line... I have been curious about this too... I know it is not the worst swing ever, and when I take a bit of time to reflect I can gather my composure... and when I think about it I have taken a lot of beats being 60%, 70%, 80%+ favourites, plus losing a lot of flips and of course not being able to connect when I am the underdog, cos in these games you just don't always get in ahead, it doesn't work that way... deep down I just wish I could get to my bigger sample size and then deal with the big swings, cos then I have enough to reassure me... but when I drop into the red like that it plays on my mind more...

I do however think I have to work on my ranges in order to deal with the loose calls I have been seeing, just slight tweaking... I have a pretty understanding of ICM, so I have to have faith that I am making the best decisions I can... and I am seeing so many mistakes all the time, again, faith in the long run... well, when it happens I'll let everyone know...

i have seen some graphs that you would never say how bad you can run (ex. 100 bis below ev in 1k games). Just take a look at nibbana's blog. Superturbos are unfortunatelly like this.

Also you have low volume, you will be able to make some conclusions at 5k/10k games.

good luck

Thanks... yeah, I know the volume is low... time will tell, feeling better but will do a review and then maybe play another session...

I will take solace from the fact that I am sure that I am not alone... As I just played a set and had KK cracked 4 times (I wish I was making it up) I feel more confident that it is variance pushing me... So yeah, grind on through it is the only way to go... I think what helps my mindset the most is going through my horrid sessions with SNG wiz... That always makes me feel better cos, well, it doesn't appear as though I am a total drooler... I do vow to spend more time in the wiz as I know there are some intricacies I would like to work on... seeing as my downer is now around 60BI it is beginning to feel more like an accomplishment, a rite of passage and a necessary evil... I hope I can maintain this positivity as I ride the punishment train through... I do belive in my game... I DO!

OK... so today is a new day... and in fact yesterday, as I look back was a good day too... I took BOBOsvk's advice and I am reading through nibbana's blog... so far about 1/2 way through but very good so far... Last night we sat up and watched tv for a while so I landed up playing micro PLO for a good few hours... really enjoying it and now beginning to get the hang of things their, fast becoming my favourite poker break from poker... if you get what I mean...

Today I began with a short sessio and a lot of thinking about this level that I am playing... I have been convinced that I have some leaks and for me a large downswing adds to that... My thinking has led me to do some work in SNGwiz particularly focusing on the late position battles. What I am seeing, and I am sure many would agree, is that people are calling shoves a lot lighter. In general people are not folding as much as they did and that's because more people are shoving more liberally in later positions. Now this becomes a fine balancing act as ATCpushes are no longer ATC depending on the range, and it is easy to go too far the opposite way and nit up too much. So pinpointing a players range becomes critical... and never easy... for now I am going to work on a fine adjustment where I will assume unknowns are somewhat looser than they should be and adjust my default ranges accordingly... and against the regs, well that battle becomes interesting, adjusting shoving ranges is a helluva lot easier there than adjusting calling ranges. I mean I was looking at some BU shoving ranges that I know some regs will push in situations, and I was seeing calling ranges that include K2o... and that's with a stack with fe if I fold... ugh, that still takes a serious read and really challenges my comfort zone... My poker career has really developed on shoving wide, calling tight for the most part... and while I have loosened up in many spots I still struggle calling with hands like JTs when I know I can... This is something that I need to work on, and I think it'll come with spending more time analysing with the wiz... To get the understanding required much more time needs to be invested... so that is the plan, but for now I am hungry...

Hmmm, a decent session and it seems as though I am able to win some hands... I am liking these adjustments and they are making sense... I'm gonna do some more analysis as I come across various situations... and I need to review a hand where I think I made a big mistake with AK... it also feels good to have the roll move in the right direction, but more than that I am liking the confidence that comes with these new adjustments... expand the mind...

And last night I had a crazy time at PLO... won 12 stacks in 40 hands... :f_cool: Really need to get it sorted so I can convert some of those hands...

Well had 2 decent days now... I am feeling that the tweaks in my game have helped a bit, and things are making sense... also with winning a few hands I feel like I have begun my road to recovery... apart from dropping 8BIs in my last session all is good... all this thinking is opening up more situations that I really wanna review... but it looks as though I may have a busy week ahead so I'll review and then see what sorta volume I can achieve... I am itching to get into some longer grinding sessions, and we'll find out tomorrow when HRH goes back to work..

Sigh... the dealer has taken a great disliking to me again... my personal pet peeve is being dealt KK on the bubble... last 5 times have seen me eliminated by this hand...

My progress so far...

You'll get there Nick. Be really good if you could import your ST db into HEM to see what the redlines doing or if you know someone who can import it for you and screenshot it. It's obviously not a definitive answer but it's a nice guide as to how it's going after 1k games. I've often found when things are really shit that the redline is the thing keeping me playing but more importantly keeping me playing MY game and not making bad adaptations because I'm running bad.

Anyways, I'll PM you my skype if you ever fancy a chat/sweat/review

Easy
