Ok so not much happening this week, mrsgadget has taken a turn for the worse so obviously I'm busy elsewhere. It's getting quite concerning tbh so we'll see how that goes, otherwise it's off to the vet.

On a brighter note I joined Poker770 and got some free moniiez, which according the the rule of Saint Rigged, got undeposited very quickly playing that speed game. I'd have to say I think the players are at least as bad as at PKR but that doesn't stop them winning does it? Oh no, they just win weirder is all. At least I got to use PT4 for a couple of days. _cool:

So, not gonna be here much this week but I will try to play a bit if I can.

Anyway, here's today's wtf moment courtesy of PS3:

Run well, be well.

Ok, so I haven't been able to play much lately, but I did manage to squeeze in a short session of speed on ipoker this morning. After running my KK into AA twice and my 44 hit 345 v 62 sooooted, I wondered why I bothered.

It wasn't all coolers and wtf moments though, I can play like a total donk as well at least once or twice every session.

Here're a couple of real beauts:

iPoker - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has A♥ K♠

fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, BB calls 2 BB

Turn: (6.4 BB, 2 players) 2♥
BB bets 1 BB, Hero raises to 4.6 BB, BB calls 3.6 BB

River: (15.6 BB, 2 players) 6♣
BB checks, Hero bets 7.8 BB, fold

I'm loving the raise on the turn, I'm ahead here all day so why not get them to fold, right?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why did I call pre oop? Because this situation only crops up here with QQ+ and AK. So on the flop I'm not horrendously bad in calling a street but I'm not gonna go broke here if he gets busy on the turn.

So on the turn he has QQQ or AA...but if I shove he may put me on QQQ and fold AA...don't ask, don't... even.. ask.

I think my bet sizing is all over the place here:

These guys are bad enough (even though they're owning my soul) to call with an ace, perhaps even a jack, but for how much?

MP checks, Hero bets 6.2 BB, MP calls 6.2 BB

River: (25 BB, 2 players) 9♦
MP checks, Hero bets 9 BB, MP calls 9 BB

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, has anyone else used the open-handed, five finger bluff-check technique? It's quite innovative as yet I know, but in principle it's very simple. So, for all you ABC regs out there, here's how it works:

BB: 60 BB
UTG: 89.6 BB (VPIP: 16.67, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 6)
MP: 20 BB (VPIP: 15.29, PFR: 11.90, 3Bet Preflop: 14.71, Hands: 88)
Hero (CO): 159.6 BB
BTN: 56.8 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 1)
SB: 112.8 BB (VPIP: 18.18, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 11)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has 6♥ 6♠

fold, fold, Hero raises to 2 BB, BTN calls 2 BB, fold, fold

Flop: (5.4 BB, 2 players) Q♥ 9♦ 9♥
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: (5.4 BB, 2 players) Q♠
Hero checks, fold

Fear my check down and cower in submission, minions! _evil: _evil:

Makes me wonder how the hell I can be losing so much. Sigh.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have fun.

That second hand is just epic :f_biggrin:

The first hand, if you expect them to call with plenty worse such as even just Jx there, I'd probably even make it slightly bigger. If they're bad enough to call in the first place, they'll probably call a bigger bet as well imo, so probably something like 13-14bb.

But only if you're really convinced he'll call with worse if you ask me. Otherwise I think checking back the river is much better.

Ye I was a bit undecided whether I was thin value betting the river or just spewing off chips to better so maybe the check behind was more sensible, thanks.

Nothing wrong with a bit of aggressive checking down. :f_love:

So anyway, I depo'd 20 and got 10 free, which enabled me to get eaten alive for the next week, one dollar at a time in speed poker, until I got the other free 10 bucks on Friday. Does anyone besides me play full stacked any more!? :f_confused:

Gadgetbubble in freeroll for 11th and $80, yay!

Well played me, br now $94. _cool:

Aren't MTTS tiring though, I had a quite nasty headache by the end.

Lots of forum stuff at the weekend to catch up on and the mrs was quite down making any serious volume too difficult. This may have been a good thing as I was definitely getting impatient, probably given all the external distractions.

Took the advice of thazar and VP, learned some SSS, minraise utg 24% and 3bet from bb any BU reg for 18% - and still got eaten...one dollar at a time... I'm feeling my game is good though, so no comlaints, just frustrating, nothing new there.

Run hot people.

Wow too busy on the forums to play, how disturbing is that.

Been trying to get some sort of schedule/organisation going so I can get a few games in, it takes a bit of juggling.

Nice to see Ras pwning nl25, go get 'em Ras. _cool:
As for me, I don't think I'll be speed pokering much inthe future at nl5 6 max. Fact is the games are full of whales and you'd think it would be easy pickings. unfortunately it's because of the random nature of the players that it's so hard, given it's nl5 speed and if the T6s in a 3bet pot doesn't get you the rake will.

So, just a quick post for now; I'll think about the ev of stealing blinds v different villains today and see how that goes.

Some weird [kids!] programme believe it or not:

I'm off now to rob one bill to pay another yet again.

Have a good one.

I wanted (and was somewhat masochistically looking forward to) this being a cry baby post, about how I'm going broke and how much I've been bad beat and 2 or 3 outered so much my bankroll has gone from $200 to $96 just since the start of this blog - and then I only went and won didn't I.

Apart from the previous freeroll $80, I got myself winning at nl4 6 max yesterday. It all started out same the old, same old AA<KK; KK<A2s, etc., etc., for a loss of nearly 3BI in the first 50 hands. Blah blah blah. After around 2hrs I was up about 11BI! As usual HM2 was pouting so no HUD, but meh to that for now.

96 + 80 + 47ish = erm... = er, er... = A LOT! :f_love:

Back in the game again. :f_love:

This isn't creepy this is cool:

Run like me.

Confidence, such a fickle mistress. In RL, I get despondent when things go badly for extended periods of time, then it's all 'ok, let's go get 'em' when it turns round for me. It didn't used to happen, only since I acquired SWMBO and actually discovered the words responsibility and care.
Related to this is that confidence on the poker table runs concurrent to that off it. I have no idea how to separate the two and don't think I'd like to anyway, I think that would just be weird.
But, given all this new walking with straight back head held high stuff, I sometimes wonder if I can in some way affect the card deal.

I either don't hit my set for three days or it goes down when I do if I'm feeling low and not at my A game. If I feel good and hit a set I instantly sit bolt upright and think, ye, let's go! This in turn prompts me to hit a boat min or quads and get two people to insta-stack off.
A little insight into my emotional state during a session for you there. Yep. a little volatile, I'm not an android and that's the way I like it.

So anyway, a little more rungood and it's off to nl10 again for me tomorrow. Surely in my newfound state of invincibility two buyins isn't beyond me? ;)

Right, I'm off to shave mrsgadget's back for charity.

To atone for that, here's short feelgood vid.

Laters.

Nice that my little project on Poker770 is actually going quite well at last. I still think speed nl5 is a bit pointless but then people just fold to me all day long. I played yesterday and won just under $25 so that puts the roll on there at $110. Sweet for free money.

PKR isn't going so well, I've only won about $200 in the last two weeks or so, which puts the roll on $432. _evil:
It's just odd how many times people have tried to rep the hand I had lately, it seems they're all trying to bluff me. Well I have news for you guys, I'm not good enough to bluff so don't bother I will call!

After losing since I started on PKR, which must be about 40 yrs or so now - at least it feels like that when virtually every session is a losing one - it gives one an instant boost of cast iron invincibility to have a few winning sessions. Easy game again!

So, starting nl10 but HM2 is still messing me about so giraffes etc., may be scarce until I find out what the hell is going on there. Had a nice sweat session with thazar and it just stopped importing for no sensible reason after a while. naturally PT4 doesn't work on PKR, naturally.

tl;dr

I won some money and HM2 is broken again.

Have fun.

I've had some issues with hands not being imported, even when playing on Stars. It was pretty minor though, because I just missed the last 300 hands of one session. Also, simply re-starting Holdem Manager magically made them come back.

Not sure what the deal is with PKR though.

Either way:

I won some money

Moderators, such a strange breed.

So I don't know if I run good or not, but I have managed to get the regs to sit out a couple of times which is (mostly) a good thing.

When you show good postflop skill, even the pilchards adjust:

BB: $11.65 (116.5 bb)
UTG: $10 (100 bb)
MP: $7.36 (73.6 bb)
CO: $10.46 (104.6 bb)
Hero (BTN): $10.03 (100.3 bb)
SB: $4.63 (46.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 5 5
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.25, SB calls $0.20, BB folds

Flop: ($0.60) K J 2 (2 players)
SB folds

Perhaps I'll get as good as Vorpal soon and they'll just pass me the blinds all day. _cool:

Got HM2 to work, it seems the site import time keeps resetting to zero. I'll see how setting it to 1hr goes pre-session, if not it's the bin for sure.

Hot hot hot.

So after losing 3BI since yesterday over a couple of sessions I'm at 495 from 520, which puts me up around 6BI this month and of course I'm still complaining because the rake is a killer and I was over the 500. Hey, I'm old, get over it.

Haven't heard from my sweat session guys in a while which I miss; they're a good crew.

So anyway, nl10 going good enough to get me to nl25 maybe next month or so, the speed game is just for, well I dunno why I bother to be honest I only have 50 ish there.

Chilling out today, the mrs is resting and the dog is out the back growling at anything that vaguely resembles movement 5 miles away, so not much poker, maybe later. I may even cut the lawn. There, I've said it.

Basically, won some more money, got older.

I have had such an amazing last couple of weeks I'm actually finding it hard to believe. It's only a fortnight ago I was so stressed I was shaking, I really thought we might get evicted for not being able to pay the bills or buy enough food any more. Seriously. Then the mrs got ill; nice.

How things can turn round.
I won enough money on PKR to go from 90+ to 500+.
Got enough from Poker770 to pay off some debts to people who really shouldn't have had to wait that long. Thank you so very very much, you know who you are. Some even refused payment and sent it back, which was really, really embarrassing.
Got a 25euro voucher from Poker770 which I promptly spent on two Girls Aloud dvds for mrs gadget via Amazon - ye, I know, I know - but I don't have to listen to them do I?

Anyhooo, long story short, I ran like Usain, won shitloads, stopped feeling quite so old.
So, I'm going to one table nl25 tonight as well as my normal nl10 and see how that goes.

Br $502. _evil:

thank you, you're far too generous, but be careful, or Marta'll be organising group hugs and team building exercise away days.

So, nl25 officially sucks...for now. I tried and lost 2bI without seeing the river, then realised what was happening - they were repping hands that I couildn't call. For example villain raise/calls my 3bet oop...chk/c, chk/c...push on the str or fl completing river. At nl10 easy fold most times but these guys kept doing it.

So are they hot..or not? Let's find out!

Hero (CO): $31.58 (126.3 bb)
BTN: $25.75 (103 bb)
SB: $30.26 (121 bb)
BB: $20.13 (80.5 bb)
MP: $32.52 (130.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A K
MP raises to $0.62, Hero raises to $1.75, 3 folds, MP calls $1.13

Flop: ($3.85) 2 6 J (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $2.25, MP calls $2.25

Turn: ($8.35) 9 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $4.17, MP calls $4.17

River: ($16.69) 4 (2 players)
MP bets $24.35 and is all-in, Hero calls $23.41 and is all-in

That'll be a 'not' then. :f_biggrin:

Results:

Spoiler

$63.51 pot ($3.00 rake)
Final Board: 2 6 J 9 4
Hero showed A K and won $60.51 ($28.93 net)
MP showed Q K and lost (-$31.58 net)

Of course we have to remember my 3bet was 13.5% over 170 hands, so quite active, may even have looked fishy as the new guy on the block.

Still, it's back to nl10 on 477 until I get to 500 and off we jolly well will go again.

Still looking hotter than Holly Willoughby in cling-film at nl10; well, maybe not... :O

Secretly, I bet you whistle to:
