Well I got back up to nl25 shot easy enough, then lost a BI again. sigh.

Session versus whales and maniacs isn't easy no matter what you hold.

This was the worst hand for me I think, pretty sure the river is a call v a 55/33 who bets three streets very often. Especially given I planned the hand to do just that on such a board. Still a fish then Mal? Ye, sorry 'bout that. X(

UTG: $45.15 (180.6 bb)
MP: $11.77 (47.1 bb)
CO: $35.09 (140.4 bb)
Hero (BTN): $25 (100 bb)
SB: $24.60 (98.4 bb)
BB: $25 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with Q Q
UTG raises to $0.75, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.75, SB folds, BB calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.35) 8 8 K (3 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $1.56, Hero calls $1.56, BB folds

Turn: ($5.47) 6 (2 players)
UTG bets $3.64, Hero calls $3.64

River: ($12.75) T (2 players)
UTG bets $8.50, Hero folds

Back to nl10 yet again, such is the way of things, but not for long methinks.

Remember, every silver lining brings a cloud with it.

Maladjusted out.

What BRM do you use Mal? Because moving back down everytime you lose 1 BI seems a bit tedious to me.

So maybe you could consider using a slightly larger BRM so that you can take like 4-5 BI shots instead? Just a suggestion, and this is all up to personal preference imo, but maybe it's worth looking at. :)

Why don't you 3bet pre Mal? If he is that active you have the nuts! I'd be 3b/calling or 3b/jamming all day every day.

I'm at school though so can't really go into it

@Tino

I'm experimenting with the new limit is all. I've been sitting at one or sometimes two nl25 and the others nl10. I use $500, if I'm there or over I try nl25, if it doesn't work out I drop again, np.
I won't be doing it anymore, I think I can handle nl25 now, so building the Br up enough to take a proper shot at it. BR $470-ish at moment.

@Ras

I flat there because I am obviously ahead, but he loves to see flops and will call a 3bet anyway but then he'll get rid of it if he hits nothing. If I let him think he's in charge he will bet say K6s three streets with a 6. So I can get 3 streets of value versus a more likely one if I 3bet.
Being passive can be good.

I'm not trying to justify my feeble play, just saying I knew what was going on and we had a little history.
I sat out soon after, that's just spewing chips.

Sigh,at nl10 I lost 3BI last night and won 2BI today, so it's all a bit up and down like a porn stars arse last couple of days, but that's ok at least I'm not getting hammered.
Bought mrs gadget some small Christmas prezzies - I have to let her see the box but not the content, this keeps her happy and inquisitive at the same time - that way she leaves me to play poker and have a beer in peace. Sorted.

Not much else for now except I hope a mate runs well in his tourneys on Sunday, he could surely use a little gadget godmode. Good luck sir.

I of course, being the luckbox I am, will surely be over the 500 by next week. Only about 3 or 4 BI to go I think. Pfff, easy game. _evil:

Run good, but feel better, I'm off for food.

Malnutrition out.

Now, I have some fun so I can post a couple of hands that HM kindly didn't exterminate. I suppose the theme today should be ' Embracing the variance?'

Here's a couple of beauts with me in agro mode:

Hi jb,

Ye I changed coz the mods kept laughing at my life the basta*ds.

I'd completed my challenge of winning 1K anyway, but the fact is I nearly had to give it up for various shit/fml reasons, which melted away in the most awesome rungood ever and the help of my fellow pokerstrategists...aren't they just fkin' awesome!?

Anyway, damned good to have you around again sir. I hope the project was as good to work on as it looked. _cool:

So ok, we got owned by our Polish friends; damn they must have been upset to crush our souls so hard! Gg guys.

The mrs hasn't been very well this week so not a lot of poker going on, but what there was, was godmode stuff. Quality winning > quantity playing I say.

So I played nl10 and won about oh, over six BI last three sessions which puts the br over $500 again. Then I get an email to deposit $20 on 770 and they'll give me another 20 free immediately in my account. Oh, erm..um...let me thi...ok done, thank you very much. That'll be over eight BI then.

So PKR $548
Poker770 $143 from $20

I'll just ship the 770 depositors and Pokerstrategy freerolls on 770 next and that will cap the most awesome month in the history of awesome months pokerwise.

Been running so good lately I decided to inject a little class:

Now to get my pride and joy sorted out and back on form...

Run good all.

Well I've gone from being -19bb/100 to +3.2bb/100 and in a matter of a few weeks moved out of the bloody nl4 donkfest up to the heady heights of the nl25 donkfest. Hurrah for me.

I got a little help from a couple of depositor freerolls, earned $21 and £10 from the last two. The former is fun, if you deposit and play a bit they give you 20K starting chips instead of the basic 300. _love:

Right so the BR is 603 on PKR and 149 on 770. I'll withdraw a bit from 770 and deposit it again on PKR ready for the next freeroll. Easy game.
I'm usually a loud advocate of BR nitness, but that's just too many BI for nl10.

It doesn't always go according to plan of course. Here's one from my last session of nl10 (for now at least ;) ):

Spoiler

PKR, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (CO): $18.36 (183.6 bb)
BTN: $12.38 (123.8 bb)
SB: $11.27 (112.7 bb)
BB: $11.46 (114.6 bb)
UTG: $5.76 (57.6 bb)
MP: $4.39 (43.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A A
UTG raises to $0.40, MP folds, Hero raises to $1.20, 2 folds, BB calls $1.10, UTG raises to $5.76, Hero calls $4.56, BB calls $4.56

Flop: ($17.33) 3 7 K (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.10, BB raises to $4.20, Hero raises to $7.60, BB calls $1.50 and is all-in

Turn: ($28.73) J (3 players, 1 is all-in)
River: ($28.73) Q (3 players, 1 is all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$28.73 pot ($2.00 rake)
Final Board: 3 7 K J Q
Hero showed A A and won $0.00 (-$11.46 net)
BB showed Q Q and won $11.40 (-$0.06 net)
UTG showed K K and won $15.33 ($9.57 net)

Never mind, welcome to nl25:

Standard 'just joined the table watch me bluff this guy' fish play and my standard - seen it all before buddy - response. _evil:

BB: $10 (40 bb)
CO: $68.65 (274.6 bb)
Hero (BTN): $25 (100 bb)
SB: $20.44 (81.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 9 8
CO folds, Hero raises to $0.62, SB folds, BB raises to $0.99, Hero calls $0.37

Flop: ($2.08) 9 5 5 (2 players)
BB bets $2.08, Hero calls $2.08

Turn: ($6.24) J (2 players)
BB bets $6.24, Hero raises to $12.48, BB folds

Looks like it might be fun at nl25, so I may stay awhile; I just need to get used to the ramped up aggression is all...oh, I can do that. :]

Right, take your brain out, you wont be needing that.

Keep well.

First serious nl25 session out the way tonight. Those regs sure do like a reraise or three don't they!

I wasn't sure if it was a fold on the flop or a push, but I can't call on that board surely. MP is a whale by the way and the raiser seems fishy so far, hence the flat.

Hero (BTN): $25.42 (101.7 bb)
SB: $30.32 (121.3 bb)
BB: $12.05 (48.2 bb)
UTG: $26.96 (107.8 bb)
MP: $41.43 (165.7 bb)
CO: $63.52 (254.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with T T
UTG folds, MP calls $0.25, CO raises to $1, Hero calls $1, SB folds, BB calls $0.75, MP calls $0.75

Flop: ($4.10) 7 9 T (4 players)
BB checks, MP bets $2.73, CO calls $2.73, Hero raises to $8.87, BB raises to $11.05 and is all-in, MP raises to $17.19, CO folds, Hero raises to $24.42 and is all-in, MP calls $7.23

Turn: ($66.72) 8 (3 players, 2 are all-in)
River: ($66.72) Q (3 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$66.72 pot ($3 rake)
Final Board: 7 9 T 8 Q
Hero showed T T and lost (-$25.42 net)
BB showed 8 A and lost (-$12.05 net)
MP showed 8 6 and won $63.72 ($38.30 net)
CO mucked and lost (-$3.73 net)

Bit of an ouch, put me down nearly 3BI at the time. Meh, got some regs to bluff off a few chips then shut up shop after a while, so all's well that ends well.

Have fun.

Well I'm glad I took the game to nl25 now, but much to put into practice to feel comfortable. Looking at bets in big blinds has helped but the regs do get busy.
Anyway, br doing ok and winrate positive so it's all good so far.
I've started a new database just for nl25 as a sort of line drawing under nl4/nl10. It's a psychological move telling myself I won't be going back there...

So br 628 and godmode set to ON!

why do you flat with TT.. isnt that a total obvious re raise ? and the shove looks like okay? it just looks like a bad cooler and the A8 guy was definitely bad doing that stuff he did.

Then again im a FL player so what do i know ;P I know how to call call call and win instead of risking all my money in 1 hand.

+1 for FL over NL.

Keep the godmode set to on please :f_cool:

I actually agree with Avataren that I would 3bet the TT. With the limper and the iso (which could both be very wide) there's a decent amount of money in the pot for you to scoop already. Plus if you get called you can play in position with initiative in a bigger pot, which is always good because it just means they can make more expensive mistakes -> $$$ for you!

That's just what I would do though.

As played I don't see how you can do anything else but stack off :)

My second attempt, I clicked the wrong button and deleted my last post. Donks 'R' Us.

Thanks for the input people, much appreciated and I agree. I'm still experimenting so plenty more fishy stuff to come yet! :f_love:

Couldn't beat the shoal of pilchards last night or this morning unfortunately. I was down quite a bit but the trusty non-believing reg-stations helped me get some semblance of normality back. Thanks guys. :f_cool:

So, getting my game to improve preflop but I seem to have given up on cbetting now. Need to sort that one out, so I've started cbetting any board v unknown recreational players, whether it looks like they could have hit it or not. Seems to be working so far. Actually, after the first hand, I don't think anyone is unknown if I pay attention.

I managed to pay my sponsor a little bit back to since I was in profit this month, which made me feel a lot better about having it. Let's face it I was losing at nl4 to the tune of -9bb/100 for months (Oi, no laughing!).

So, turn up the volume on godmode and let's see what happens this month.

Not playing today though, I gotz faceache again. X(

Run good all.

Hi RT, thanks. :)

The Freelancer was it's usual cruelty, pushed bvb into a not and he snapped KK, obv is obv and left me 3bb. Last month I shipped JJ same situation and got snapped off by KK :).

Didn't play much cash over the weekend but managed to win a bit in the end.
It took a long long time last night to go from 8 up to down 3, up 7 to down 4, up 9 to down 18 - you get the idea. Anyway, this hand made it all worth it but I still have no idea if it was ok to play it like I did:

Ok, so the shorty is just there to supply some blinds, very nice of him. The reg is a bit odd and not good, his raise could have been a bluff - I've seen him do it before, but most unlikely here multiway v a shorty, more probably a set or a flush draw and he's trying to get rid of me.

So I call, implieds looking ok if fishy shoves and reg calls I shove over him.

Turn I bet, I usually do nobody believes me anyway (thanks again for that thazar! lol ) if he has flush or set which is what I put him on, he'll call all day, otherwise, whatever. When he calls I think it's a set but what to do on the shitty river?

So I tell him he's all in...

MP: $27.85 (111.4 bb)
Hero (CO): $27.02 (108.1 bb)
BTN: $25.70 (102.8 bb)
SB: $9.75 (39 bb)
BB: $27.18 (108.7 bb)
UTG: $25 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with T A
UTG raises to $0.75, MP folds, Hero calls $0.75, BTN folds, SB calls $0.65, BB calls $0.50

Flop: ($3) 4 8 9 (4 players)
SB bets $1.25, BB folds, UTG raises to $4.25, Hero calls $4.25, SB calls $3

Turn: ($15.75) Q (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $7.87, SB calls $4.75 and is all-in, UTG calls $7.87

River: ($36.24) 7 (3 players, 1 is all-in)
UTG checks, Hero bets $14.15, UTG folds

Results:

Spoiler

$36.24 pot ($1.81 rake)
Final Board: 4 8 9 Q 7
Hero showed T A and won $34.43 ($21.56 net)
SB showed T 9 and lost (-$9.75 net)
UTG mucked and lost (-$12.87 net)

Anyway, ended up growing my br by 3 BI+, fishy or not so there.

Godmode turned up a notch.
