so this month so far i have been playing 90% FLHE and 10% NLHE which i think is not a bad ratio, stepping back a bit and learning the betsizing fun part...
Got back to uni this week
this time I study English... if all goes well I might even graduate... ooooh... feeling such a relief of despair flowing thru me when meeting my family and being with them. it is emotional despair but it is finally releasing. so today i go to shop to buy a beer in the evening... then i bought sports drink instead and grind ~1h session... i cannot just rest and pretend all is fine
im happy actually about my family. the tough part has been emotions.. but now i see them quite clearly.. i think it all passes.. i have highly motivational phases as well. and i am getting better and better in meditation, learning new materials about it. if i wouldn't be so tired all the time again, i could do more yoga as well again.. im happy though the way it is for me at the moment.
does anyone have any experience or knowledge about real life money management? maybe I am asking from a wrong place but I think I need special advice for online poker players. what I do is "fun" but how to actually do it well? does anyone have any clue or experiences about this subject?
Well I used to be a bookkeeper, and I've once kept extremely careful track of all the money in and out.
I don't do that so much now.
The best advice I can give is:
Record all income and expenses.
If you have a spreadsheet program you can use that.
If not, Open Office is free, as is Google Sheets, but you may not want to put your financial picture on Google's servers.
You might want to ask your bank if they have any literature or other suggestions
Maybe heading even towards more smallball BRM now. The main main thing here is getting it ok with my beautiful partner, like, where should I be in her world, and what is important. What kind of energy does she like to support and how can I actually give the greatest effort? The coaches keep telling me to "not hurry", "don't go outside of BRM" and "keep it really slow for at least a year without trying to beat it fast". I do hope the TRUTH WINS and if i do keep my best effort the REAL EFFORT it is the best that can happen.
So maybe "a year at NL2 now"? I'm just finding the ways of thinking here for a good long-term career.. No pride pressure for moving up etc... I have had this "mistakes" a lot in the past, where I moved up quite fast, won and even quit then. I was playing ok or quite well, got lucky as well and was focusing on fish mostly to get maximum winrate and money. I was learning quite a bit, but never like "with family", I was alone then. Just the thoughts... I'm feeling really motivated now for some reason to play NL2, I tried it for like 3 hours yesterday.
It can be tough trying to balance *anything* with a young family. I went through the same thing just as I was climbing up the stakes of SnG's and trying to find that balance was tough... In the end, I decided to quit poker and focus on family and I don't regret it all. (That's what I needed to do - I'm not suggesting that you need to do that.)
It's easy to get lost in family, but it's important to also carve out some personal time. My advice (and what I do now with my partner) is to discuss how much time you want to spend on your activities (poker) and then schedule that time when your partner can support you.
Good luck with the switch to NL.
Yes yes I feel it is so much about the right relationship with partner, I think it is actually good to put partner first in priorities and she can then tell you what to do. Like this is what happened to me as well, it's not like she's going to ruin you if you are with her more or something. Quite the opposite. I think it might be even right to completely forget everything else and simply focus on being with the children and partner. Then later they will address you back and you will have time again for yourself. Just being 100% with them is good I think when with them.
With children one great thing starts to happen, when they grow bigger, that everything else in father's life is suddenly so easy and not important at all. Like the small babies are the most important... now when they are a bit bigger, getting 5 and 3 years in winter, it's like we are both ok being more separate... But yeah, like everything else in life is like so easy... after small babies. You CAN pretty much do ANYTHING you want. It pretty much just doesn't even matter. But yeah I think keeping this small good training being very regular in it, getting better and better is just good for me, and it is also so much fun and happiness.
so i am somehow in university still, i love expressing myself in English (i study English language in Tallinn University, Estonia). i was doubting whether to do that but today was just so funny we had to talk in front of class with a small group. i sooo like performing maybe i should try acting, it is sooo good. i feel like i can talk all kinds of stuff and perform ♦ ❤️
poker-wise we got this pressure off me, everyone is focusing on my academic time. haven't played for a while, will soon try some good old NLHE 2 again ♦ im happy about our fun class in uni
Performing is fun.
Our singing group once joined with the local drama club to present "Oklahoma!"
Great fun
So back in poker. Having a comfortable Bankroll Management and the knowledge what I'm doing with it, I think first time in my life I do it now. Before I was always trying to move up fast, always worried about money... Now I play where I feel comfortable. This requires some "pride removal" or something, I remember when I was in high-school I liked to show-off to people in computer class how I win in FL 1/2 or something... at the same time being nervous myself.
was fun but yea maybe a bit too high and maybe a bit too bragging, right.
swinging some cents again in FL04 and FL10 cents. got like $2/hour the last hour. yup I prefer it to losing -1.5BB/100 on FL 1/2 lol... was crazy times once in the past

I love it that OTT you are getting 40:1 pot odds.
I guess he thought "fold equity!!!"
The way he played it, would you have folded to a river shove?
What I see him from so far, he wouldn't never ever shove the river. If he would, I would fold every time, knowing he has it. On this river if he shoves it must be 55 or slowplayed nuts. Why I don't be the river is 1) I think he is on air often and nothing will call anyway; 2) I thought he might have maybe hit Tx on the Turn after he bet/calls the Turn.
These small bets, sometimes I feel they are blocker bets, like: "please don't raise big". So I think this might be from a hand that will actually call a bet but doesn't want to.
