WEEK 14

This week´s been of the toughest. Again downswing, I have 6 losing days in a row, which was quite frustrating. Anyway, I managed not to lose at results and keep playing my game. I surely made some mistakes out of tilt, but overall I didn´t play that bad. What I need know is to go through some theory, I can´t stop learning things, because that´s the only thing which will increase my winrate and decrease the impact of downswing on my game. I have 2 most losing days this week, both about -4,5 BI, which is pretty bad. One of them is today btw. Let´s hope following week will be much better, otherwise I will have to go back to NL10 :(.

I´ve just been through some stats in my HM. I´ve found out, where I lose a bunch of money. It´s in the blinds, especially in the SB. The truth is, that my SB WR is very decent, but still I lose a lot of money when I 3B or cc against LP (and when I say a lot I mean shit load of BBs). This should mean, that if I fix this issue, my WR at SB should be even better, I dare to say I could get at something like -10bb/100, we will see. I will look at it tomorrow. There is an option to go with 3b or folds at SB only and exclude cc, which would make my life easier in many cases. I will think it over and decide tomorrow.

Same issue I have at BU, I have there around 20bb/100 and good winrate would be over 30bb/100, so I´m definitely doing something wrong there as well, tomorrow I will figure out what´s the problem.

WEEK 15

Last week started off with the worst day I´ve ever had, nearly -100 USD to be concrete. This forced me to go down in limits, back to nl10, which sucks itself, but bad run continued and I had 3 more very bad days. I kinda felt desperate and stopped caring about results at all. I accepted I could actually go broke, because last weeks showed me no mercy. Harder it is when I see what my opps do at nl10, so many mistakes, especially in preflop ranges. And I have to say I don´t have perfect prelop game myself, but what other "regs" are capable of doing, I can´t understad. To my game, I focused on stealing, which I had coaching on on monday and I believe I improved in this area. Also, I worked on my preflop game in SB, as well think I´ve become better there. I´ve found out I play badly in BB preflop, so I need to work on that during following week.

I´m really thinking about skipping NL16 and going straight to NL25. The reason is there is low traffic at nl16, which means lesser amount of fish at tables, which means it would take more time and I might again lose there a lot, which I´m quite afraid of, because being stucked betweend nl10 and 16 for months would make me really upset. Maybe I will change my mind though. Talking about nl25, I´m still far cry from getting there, so maybe one day. Till that time I will keep grinding.

WEEK 16

Pretty bad week, I believe I´m running very poorly, thanks to the rakeback the resut is a profit (very small). I looked at my graph and I´m like 7BI under EV this week. When it comes to my game I believe I keep improving, I steal blinds now better and more often and I´m working on by BU and BB game. It´s a bit annoying, that in terms of results I basically didn´t move forward 3 weeks in a row, maybe next week will be the breakthrough.

WEEK 17

Haven´t played much last week, had school leaving exams on thursday which went well, so I celebrated and were out for last 4 days. Anyway, time of partying is over and I´m about to put some serious work into poker. Hopefully I will finally get profit this week.

WEEK 18

Haven´t played much in the 1st half of the week, because on monday I was losing like every spot, so I felt sick of it. Anyway I came back on friday and kept playing a lot on saturday and yesterday as well and I ran pretty hot, which is always nice. It was not that I would win all ins where I was underdog, I was getting more in good spots, tbh it seemed ppl was giving me their chips . I´ve started 6 tabling once again, that way I get bigger volume and I´m comfortable with that for now, I can easily just turn on the music and play long sessions.

After checking results, the hotrun isn´t that big as I expected, but still it´s nice to have a winning week after a long time. I would really love to get to nl25 by the end of this month, that´s my short term goal for now. When it comes to theory I´m gonna review a lot my hands now, because I don´t really know what else to do.

WEEK 19

Once again, pretty bad week, I don´t even know if I play bad or what´s goin´ on. It´s been 70k hands at NL10 and last 50k I´m BE, slightly losing. I gotta be doing something wrong, but still it seem my opps are even worse, so I quite don´t understand it. I will keep trying, hopefully I will beat that limit soon.

It´s almost a month since my last post and despite the fact the blog seems dead, my poker life ain´t. I´ve played a ton of hands in this month. Few things happened. I was on huge downswing, but it ended 3 weeks ago (or smething like that). That time I decided to start grinding hard at NL10. It we pretty good (maybe hotrun, but some edge had impact as well). However, previous week I decided to take a shot on nl16, which went horribly. Minus about 7BI. 2 reasons why I think it happened:
a) There is basically no fish at NL16, tables are full of regs and while at NL10 runs 70 tables, at the same time you can find only 5 tables of NL16
b) In spite of last thing I mentiones I ran NL16 zoom, where I made huge loss, zoom ain´t just thing for me and I should avoid it on miles
So, the plan is now this. I am gonna play NL10 till I have BR for NL25 (which is 625USD). I play 6 tables (sometimes 4, depends on how I feel) and I feel I have a big edge. I always try to have some fish at my table and at my right or left hand, without fish, my WR would be much lower. I don´t really watch results anymore, so I can´t say how do I stand at the moment, but I would say my BR steadily grows, because I feel I have skill advantage at NL10. Despite I don´t have astonishing results, I feel my game is improving rapidly. Now I feel I´am at the top of my game and I am really confident, which is very interesting considering my results (I am basically stucked at the same amount of BR for 3 months? One would get desperate...). Actually, as I don´t watch results anymore (haven´t seen cashier for 2 weeks or so), I might be about to bust, who knows .

The bad news is, that I am gonna be off poker for 12 days this month, which might slow me down, but you can´t say no to vacation, right? I will be back with an update at the end of June, till then I am gonna do my best to reach NL25 by the end of this month.

July is over and it was pretty solid month - actually very good month, if I consider I was on a vacation for 12 days. Almost whole month I grinded NL10, things went pretty standard, I was happy with my game... At some point I´ve started using a new way of table selection. Simply I checked every single table which ran on NL10 and if there was some fish/potential fish I joined the waiting list. After 15 mins I had opened like 16 tables, maybe even more sometimes, which was kinda too much, so for another 30 min I was selecting usually the 6-8 best tables and eventually I ended up playing 4 tables. I´m not sure if this is good, to be playing like 12 tables for 1/2 of the sessions, but I seem not minding it actually, so I continued. Actually, it helped me realize how good is it to play few tables. I can just focus on game so much better if I play 4 tables. So, when I come from 16 tables to 4 I feel pretty good. I like playing 16 tables and 4 as well, so this even improved my sessions and I enjoy them more. Anyway, on the friday morning I woke up knowing tonight´s the night to give nl25 a shot. I wasn´t even sure if my BR was ready for that (because I don´t check cashier anymore), but I kinda felt like doing it, so I went for it. Well, I hit the hotrung, cards were going in my way and it was pretty cool. I´ve been through some suckouts as well, but mainly I´ve been dealt good cards I would say, which is the best thing which can happen when u making a shot on higher limit.

So, on friday I played some nl10 during the day and in the evening I decided to start nl25 tables. It didn´t go good but either that bad. I ended after few hands, because I realized I was getting tilted (you know, it´s 2,5x more money than nl10, so it´s easier to get on a tilt). The result was -0,75 BI, so no tragedy. On the saturday I played a couple of sessions during the day and in the evening as well. The result +8,5 BI. Yesterday I ran under EV, but still, I maintained 5,5bb/ev. To sum up, so far so good, I have pretty safe BR for nl25 right now. If I fuck it up, I´m gonna be pissed, but that´s tomorrow´s problem, today I feel like a god, because nl25 is the limit, which if I can play I´m pretty satisfied with achieving yearly goals. The goal now is to stay at nl25 for whatever cost and then by the end of the year I wanna play NL100 of course, but that´s too far away :).

Almost forgotten, I also bought a membership on a poker study site (something like psgy, but there is less members, so bigger chance I will learn something ;)).

Hey, August has been pretty annoying. 10 days I was on vacation so I couldn´t play. When I played, I played nl25 mainly, but when it comes to results I´m 0,34bb/100EV over 40k hands. Which is quite upsetting, but whatever. I will play NL10 now and after I have at least 6bb/100 I move to nl25. In September I really need to work on my game, because lately I was grinding mainly, neglecting the theory work, which has to change now. I will play 4 tables of nl10 trying to reach as high wr as I´m capable of.

How’s September treating you so far on the cash game tables?
Hopefully better then in August. Good luck with improving your game :gl:

Hey, yeah it looks better so far. I play 4 tables of regular ones and it´s going pretty good. Probably the best amount of tables for me. So, I´m trying to work on my game, specifically on my BB play, because I´m at -40bb/100 there, so a lot of space for improvement there. Hopefully by the end of the month I will make nl25 shot. Also I will need to withdraw some money most likely as I have no other income besides poker now.

Thanks for ur wishes btw :).

Ola,
it´s been a while since my last post. In fall I´ve moved from PSgy to a czech educational web and since then I haven´t really used PSgy as a source of knowledge. From time to time I´ve visited some coachings, mainly Lemon´s ones and last week I actually took part in his talent series, so check it out.

When it comes what I´ve acomplished in last 6 months, I´ve reached NL25 - which doesn´t probably sound like some real progress but I´m sincerely happy for what I´ve done, because I can feel my game is on a different level from where it was back then (and that´s just 6 months). I´ve moved from stars to tigergaming and I try to make my way through there. Basically I´ve been bouncing between NL10 and 25 for 6 months now and currently I´ve reached quite comfortable BR for NL25 - crossed the 1k USD line! So, hopefully I´m not gonna move back to NL10. I was 4-6 tabling and that´s probably the best for me. I would say 4 tabling is even better for the times when I want to really think about the game. Not saying I don´t do so when I 6 table but with 4 tables I can perform the very best of my game. Right now I´m in a middle of a downswing so I will play 4 tables only. Also my adjustment will be, I´m gonna focus more on theory and play less.

I´m not gonna post any graphs as I don´t check my results whatsoever. I don´t think it´d be good for my mindset, as I think I don´t truly know how variance can affect my WR, so I wouldn´t get a real picture of my WR anyways. I´m just gonna keep on improving my game and hopefully reach that NL50 mark soon. Mentioning mindset, I´ve been through some rough times. Doubting my skill, questioning myself and so on. I guess everyone been there. Right now I try to remain positive as I perceive poker as a long run game, you just can´t judge the outcome after a year, that´s just too short of a time period. I´ve made a conclusion that I´ve dedicated too much to poker to just throw it away. Besides I don´t really have anything else to do - concerning some carreer progress. And I still thing poker has much to offer to me. Not mentioning I love playing it. Afterall, when I look back, I´ve reached NL25 in two years, so I´m not that unhappy about it, because if I make NL50 and sustainable WR there untill 2019 I can live of poker only and that´d allow me travelling the world and playing poker live alongside, which I´d really like to do.

Anyways, don´t expect any updates on this site, because I post updates on mentioned czech website, where I have a active blog. Will try to do some updates every one in a while even here though.

PS: Lemon made me do this update, so shout-out to him!

Another post after 7 months, seems like it´s becoming a tradition!

Since last update I basically become a NL25 reg. I reached steady winrate of 4bb/100 over 200k hands. It´s not reliable sample, but that´s all I got, so let´s say I´m not losing there. Somewhere around mid of summer I took my first attempt at NL50. In short, it was one big disaster. I have lost around 20BI over 10k hands in a month. Fortunately, I ran very good at NL25 that time, so that saved my roll. After that I got kinda sick of it and I was again in state of mind where I was doubting myself and was looking for something what would help me. Eventually I decided to move to another side. Concretely PokerKing (WPN). Main reason was rakeback, which could go up to 40%, which is quite nice and it´s not that hard to reach it. So, I moved my roll and started playing over there. Little did I know, worst month of my career had been ahead of me. I lost another 20BIs at NL25 there. Fortunately RB made it look not so bad (down around 10 BI). Those were challenging times for my mindset. I was really down and desperate. PokerKing didn´t really solve the problem, it made it much worse. I was searching after the causes of this. I came to conclusion that whilst PokerKing offers real nice RB, at the same time there is bunch of regs (makes sense right). Put this together with a bad run and u can end up losing a lot.

At that time, I was running outta money as well. I needed to withdraw something, that way I didn´t have to seek for summer job. Eventually I decided to move back to tigergaming, mainly because of number of fish playin there. However, I had to go back to NL10. That was around the start of september. September was overall really good month. I got my shit back together and started working. I kept studying and playing sufficient volume. Also, I changed my playstyle a bit. I stopped concerning about GTO that much and started playing explo a lot, which has worked pretty well so far. In short, at the end of september I was back at NL25.

20th of october (or something around that) I took my 2nd shot at NL50. And I´ve been playing there for 2 weeks now. So far I´ve been BE, but it´s just few k hands, so can´t say much yet. When it comes to studying the game, I do HH over anything else. I just think about spots, sizings and try to think of what´s the most +EV play of particular combo and how is my range perceived by villain. As a source of information I use powerpoker, which I believe I mentioned in my last post. If not, it´s educational web, simillar to PSGY. In fact it´s led by a former PSGY coach. So I´m active over there and that´s also why my activity on this forum decreased.

Anyway, GL to anybody who´s reading this!

Hey, I am really happy to break our 1post/7months rule today as I do it to let you know I have just finished my 50 to 10k USD challenge which I originaly started somewhere around 2 and half years ago as a complete unknown to the game of a poker. It hasn't been easy and tbh I never thought I would make it so I am really happy I can say I did make it. Since last update I have played NL50 and NL100 mainly. In january I added some NL200 tables so I got few k hands there as well. In january I've also booked a coach for 10 hours five of which I've already taken. I have also bought a PIO solver which I feel is a big step and kinda separates my career into two parts. So nowadays I work a lot with pio solver trying to understand it and learn to use it efficiently nad not to misinterpretate it. Last couple of coachings and hours in pio made me feel like a fish because I see how far I am from playing good but I am trying to catch on.

Winrates for the last couple of months.

Also the biggest pot so far.

Cheers and gl at the tables guys!

If so, wow!

Nice graph regardless.
