I'm going to look through my database and see whether I'm in profit for getting all in with overpairs facing aggression. My feeling is that I'm seeing sets more often than I'm seeing top pairs, but we shall see.

Just got pwned my four year old daugher at Toy Story bowling. :f_cry:

Hand 1 I don't think you can find a fold. Hand 2 I think check-raising or check-calling both work, but after the 3bet it's hard to do anything but fold. Hand 3 depends on the villain but as already noted, the average player probably isn't good enough to fold an overpair there when he definitely should.

If anyone makes disparaging comments about Monty Python... they'll be hearing from me

It was more to make you realize that trying to bluff people off overpairs is a bad idea But it's still a good idea, I think one should learn to fold overpairs more often when faced with aggression, especially on some types of boards. :)

So, facing aggression on a dry board it's likely to be a set, so I should think of folding, but on a wet board, it's likely to be a draw, so I shouldn't (+reads+game dynamics+yadda yadda yadda)?

Any particular reason why you're opting to stick with Rush over regular ring game? :)

Fair enough!

Any significant changes compared to ring game? Softer? (Apologies for the questions, but you love them really! )

No, no, no, I meant that I think I'd fold an overpair there, at least against some player types. Hand 1 above, I called and he had a set. I'm hard to offend, unless you make disparaging comments about my family, my taste in music, my choice of job, Spurs, England, Monty Python... Oh. Well. Maybe I am easily offended. What I mean is, anything which has the subtext 'you're such a fish' is just not going to do the trick.

But there must be a GTO rate at which to bluff in this situation. Only problem is that you don't need to bluff at all against players who don't fold often enough. So easy in theory, but in practice...... :f_cry:

I think that your line is bad on this particular flop, because the flop is very dry and there's pretty much nothing to protect against. I think that you'd check/call flop and check/raise turn if you had a set/straight/two pair, therefore i wouldnt put you on a set/straight/two pair. So i think i would probably call you down here too..
The nine is actually a decent card to bluff at, but not with the line you've taken imo. :) If you just called him on F and T and shoved river he might put you on 99/97/96 and fold.
Before you say that in the first hand guy check shoved with a set, i'll say one thing: he check raised flop to get all the money in because by 3betting pre he put you on overpair and figured out that you probably wont fold. (Frankly, i dont think im folding there either.)

My two cents. :) (i expect many different opinions as always, lol )

Oh and btw i'm not a kind of guy who would offend anyone.. I'm very tolerant person. :) What i wrote before def didnt have subtext of "ur a fish", if you felt like it did then i apologize. ;)

didnt read alfs last post but i read the one before & i agree for sure,

no point bluffing ppl off overpairs because they are way to bad to fold. sure we rep set, but he just thinks 'omg he has a7 he wants my draws to pay' or 'omg he has like 56suited' all this shit and they level themselves so hard that they just never fold they also do random donkey shit like 'i have overpair cant fold' so yeah.

ur point is: i would fold overpair in that spot because he reps set, sure! this is why u are so much better and will make so much more money in the long run than these guys, the bluff works vs u for sure, but there just arnt enough players at these limits who will think at ur level.

we make money playing this line with our sets right? so i just think it never works as a bluff. sure when u get to higher limits vs thinking ops, it begins to change, they pay us off less and fold alot more and eventually it might become +EV to play this line with some bluffs.

this is just my thinking too! basically all im saying is, u are so much better than majority of the field, that we cant assume they think the same way as us. if that makes sense?

GL anyway man blog seems to be going pretty darn good!

And finally, I just spent about an hour with number two son playing this. Is it as stupidly addictive as I think, or am I just sad?

And I wonder how many people actually hovered above that to check you weren't lying... Because I certainly did
