$20 of rb per week is a lot as far as I'm concerned!
Weird -1BI session tonight. Had some interesting hands though I think. I don't think I managed any of my usual epic spew, and feel like I'm trying to approach poker in a more logical way now, so I was quite happy, although not happy that it was a losing session.

1) No reads on anyone. I raised the flop to try to get value from all the draws, the small stack shoves, and so does the big stack. Don't see how I can fold a set here with my 8.5 outs, and all the semi-bluffing possibilities, particularly if the big stack wants to scare me off. The turn had me squawking.

2) 4bet bluff against a reg with 7% 3bet over 600 hands. I will fold to a shove, and then he flats. Bollocks! I flop top pair, but decide that he's probably only flatting 4bets with KK+ and AK, so I basically give up, but he checks behind. The turn doesn't change much, so I decide to bet for value, as he probably has AK, or is slowplaying me. K is my nightmare river card, easy check/fold, and yet I call. I can visualize TT's facepalm as I write this.

5) Villain was 29/18 over 50 hands. I call the turn bet as I think I have enough outs to a FH and implied odds, assuming he has the flush he's representing. I don't think he's bluffing the river often enough for me to call, but who knows.

I should have known that posting something on a Saturday night wouldn't prompt any replies. I bet everyone else is still in bed. Well, while you've been sleeping off your hangovers in preparation for blowing $200 chasing that car in the Sunday Millions tonight, I've been honing my hand-eye coordination by losing to my four year old daughter at the Koala Brothers' Parcels game. What is it with her and koalas!
Tough hands! you posted them in eval section? wouldn't mind checking the verdict of the hand judges. first hand is a "fml" hand, I don't see how we can justify getting out there. 2nd one is as you say a check/fold on the river. Although I think that you should've cbetted on the flop. If you think he's just flatting with KK+,AK you would probably know what he has by how he reacts to your flop cbet, if he's a straightforward guy. I think the turn <1/2 pot bet looks kinda weak, but then again I suck at analysing hands :f_biggrin:. I'm scared to analyse more since I don't know what I'm talking about, so I'll leave it at that.
Regarding the SM, it's going DOOOOWN tonight, satted in for 39$ total so couldn't care less if I bust early. Wait until TT wakes up from the vodka koma he's in so that he can analyse it properly and slap you for calling the river with TPlousykicker
hand 2: I like the way you play this hand, apart from the river, but I think you realise that you shouldn't have called, sometimes it's just super hard to fold these spots, I do it too. Maybe there is an argument for bet/folding small on river if you think he can have TT/JJ and maybe some random AJ in his range or smth idk, I probs prefer check folding, I guess the biggest advantage to b/f is just that you can kind of find out where your at. I like the preflop though vs aggro btn. The only problem I find at this limit is when I 4b small OOP alot of ppl tend to flat becuase they feel 'priced in' when rly vs our range they shouldn't be. So when we are 4b'ing polarised it rly sucks. Nothing you can do I guess.
GL at the tables man.

Its probably not something you will wanna hear.. but im gonna say it anyway.
I think 4betting pre is completly retarded. Even though 3bet% of 7% is really huge for a NL10 player, it doesnt mean he's 3betting the fuck out of people with trash. His 7% still crushes your Q8s about as hard as you can imagine and, guess what, if he calls your gonna be out of position in 4bet pot with such a piece of garbage.
Look, if you just gave him credit for a hand and folded preflop, you'd just lose your 30c. Big deal. But you 4bet and lost almost one buyin. I think the tables are soft enough for you to make more money by just playing ABC poker.
These high variance moves feel so fucking good if they work, i know. But when they dont, you lose lot of $ and you feel like total moron. Then you go on tilt and lose some more.
Lol. No one ever calls me retarded any more. Feels good! So much for my professorial gravitas.
But.....anyone who turns down a +EV spot because it's high variance is also retarded. An argument that suggests the fold is more +EV than 4betting is a more convincing one. And this isn't necessarily as obvious as it looks.
Imo, 4betting pre is not bad because 7% crushes you Q8s. It's because you are deep and he can profotably call IP many hands. Otherwise I think you played (well, thought about it anyway
) the hand well.

You're playing NL10, not NL1k. Ppl really arent as loose with 3bets as you think they are.
Look, if you 4bet and he folds his AQ/AJ/66-TT you win $1,2. Awesome. If he calls, you'll be out of position with a piece of shit. What would you do if you flopped a flush draw, an 8 or a queen with a backdoor flush draw and he bet 2/3 of pot? Would you really give up and just check fold?

Just because I agree with you doesn't mean I can't be grumpy. I mean, I am retarded after all.
Lol i didnt say YOU are retarded, i said that your 4bet was retarded.
Are we levelling or what? ♦
But if an action you do is retarded, doesn't that mean YOU are retarded? I think it usually does so I get why jb thinks you called him retarded.
NL10 or NL1k 7% 3b is 7% 3b, the question is did jb have sample, if yes its not ever going to be that bad if he has a pretty standard stack off range. We don't expect him to be flatting here, therefore for such cheap price we make him fold super often. How else do u wana play vs depolarised range (which is what i assume his btn range is here)? Flatting & folding here both give him money when we can exploit the fact he is 3b'ing us depolarised.

I dont think so. This is just wrong. By the same token, if a stupid person does for the first time ever something awesome, does it instantly make him awesome?
only in this blog can a hand analysis turn into a discussion of to be or not to be retarded. It's so good it's retarded.
You youngsters and your frisky internet-speak.
A couple of weeks ago I did a PhD exam, and managed to completely bollocks up the paperwork, leaving my long-suffering secretary to clear up the administrative mess. I was clearly being retarded. She clearly thought I was being retarded. But she didn't tell me that what I had done was retarded. I knew what she thought, and she knew I knew what she thought. This was good enough.
I didn't check the stack sizes before I 4bet. If I had I probably wouldn't have done it. This was indeed retarded.
Here's how it's done. FYP

Probably not before lunchtime though.
