Real Life
Mrs Vorpal and I head out Monday for San Diego California on a 4-day cruise. I hope to play some poker on board the ship. From San Diego, we're going to head for Las Vegas through Death Valley, and I hope to play poker there too.

Wish me luck!

I hope these two hands didn't use up too much of my rungood:

Villain is quite aggro, so I let him bet the flop.
I was a bit surprised at the raise OTR, but I'm tough, I can take it...

Don't forget on-line poker is illegal in the U.S. so do not log on to any sites while in the States or you may just get your account frozen.
In Vegas you can play on the Nevada on-line site only if you are going to play on-line of course.
A live game in Vegas is much better and stick to the smaller casinos for live play.
When I was last there I played at the Luxor in a $1-$3 NL game and the first raise was always to at least $15. The game was fun but that was because I was hitting my draws.
Best of luck to you,

Good point about the legality of on-line play.
I'm not even taking a computer with the clients loaded.

I suspect I'm going to have a bit of a ride.
I withdrew my winnings (and a bit more) from PokerStars today, so that is all I will allow myself to lose gambling.
It should be enough -- unless I get totally stupid-ass drunk. (not likely btw)

<sigh>

All the best,

What casino will you be staying at?
Oh and make a trip downtown to Binions, (an all day bus ride up and down the strip is only $6 per person) as well as being the first home of the WSOP, they also have the best burgers in town.
One of the best burgers I have ever had if I do say so.

If you have time the Gold and Silver pawn shop from the T.V show Pawn Stars, is only a short walk away. My wife loves that show!!!

OK, I'll put those on the list.
We don't actually have a hotel booked yet.

We have a couple of days in San Diego to get all that sorted.

I hear the park benches in Vegas are comfy

If you are there on a Tuesday (I think it was Tuesdays) the Hard Rock Casino has topless beach day.
Wife wouldn't let me go as she said I would scare everyone if I took my shirt off. :f_biggrin:
Lots to do and see.
I am planning a trip there again next year as we didn't get time to take in the Cirque-Du-Soleil show last time.
Please take lots of pictures to post for us to see your trip.
Have fun and
Good Luck at the tables :f_drink:

Cruise Report
Had a great time.
Now in San Diego for a few days.

I played some live NL 200 on the cruise, and after 5 orbits I called it a night.
I broke even to the dollar.

I think break-even was quite good considering the rake is 10% with a 1$ minimum -- which means if it is checked to you in the BB you give the SB to the house. Yikes.

Enjoyed pretty much every minute of the cruise.
San Diego is pretty neat place. Tonight I ate the weirdest thing I ever deliberately ate.

More on that later...

Vacation Report
The Cruise ended last Friday in San Diego.
There we toured the US Midway, the San Diego Zoo.

Relax? What's that?

On our way from San Diego to Vegas we spent the night in a town called Ridgecrest. Mrs Vorpal and I drove out into the desert to look at stars.
More time would have been nice. We just lay there and looked up in the dark. It has been a long time since I've seen the Milky Way stretch horizon to horizon in clear skies. Way cool.

Yesterday we drove through Death Valley. It was one day after a sudden heavy rain, and a lot of the side roads had been washed out.
"Death Valley" sounds boring, but to a former geologist it was fascinating. Lots of things to stop and see. Rich history too.

Hot? Not really by Death Valley Standards -- "only" 83F (28.3 C)

Vegas is going to be hotter -- It will hit 33 here today.

We're in the Circus Circus. Cheapest online deal we could find.

Pictures when I get back.

So far we certainly have.
We've seen the volcano at the mirage, the fountain at the Bellagio, the Fremont Street Experience, I've been inside Binions, but sadly there were no cash games going.
Off to the Mob Museum this morning, NL 200 at the Mirage this afternoon, Grand Canyon Sunday. We saw the "Love" stage show at the Mirage as well (Mrs Vorpal is a long-time Beatles fan).
The show impressed even me.

Hype is hard to avoid here. It's important to learn to see through it.

More later...

Hey old friend

NH , my only question is why did you leave $1.14 on the table?

you have a large non elastic range on a A88Kx board as any A has a split pot and is not scared of a better kicker. And if he doest have at least an A he is unlikely to call any river bet anyway.
