PLO8 is a split-pot game. Half of the pot goes to the best high hand, and half goes to the best low hand.
You make the money when you win both haves, otherwise you split the pot, so it is far less swingy than PLO hi only

Skill level is overall lower in non-holdem variants.
Fewer people study those games.

On the other hand, the regs are very, very good, so -- as always -- know your players

I really feel what you are sharing. What has helped me a lot was to REALLY study (meaning watch, pause , simulate and then listen to what he would do) confidant91's course. It really made me fix some of my biggest leaks and validate my way of thinking on some spots which is equally important.

See, it's already helping! I looked at those charts in that thread and they look a lot like the ones I made for myself, more based on experience/feeling than something more reliable like a solver or something. There are a few differences.

Exactly, validation is equally important as "new" knowledge.
He also does a great job explaining that this is just a starting point to avoid the very difficult spots .

When you feel comfortable with your play and the population tendencies you can adjust dramatically. Im very player dependant I.e There are spots that I literally open any two cards , which I would not do in the past .

A bit embarressed to show this one, because I don't think I was playing too good. This is from yesterday/night:

I looked up ... and stood on my feet ... and I entered a $2.20 Turbo KO MTT ...
And I looked ... across the field ...
It was 651 strong players!
And I fought! And I was brave!
Perhaps not completely unlike the man that fought a lion ...
and still lives to tell ...
And I got deep!
I reached the final table!
I got in the top 3!
I got in the top 2 even!!
Sadly I did not win though ...

But haha: Bankroll + $109.40!!!

(I don't really feel like showing the lobby and let everyone know how I play cashgames).

Ah man ... finally a break... Now fix my cashgame-game.

First of all congratulations for the MTT score, it is a nice bankroll boost!

Also don't be embarassed to share graphs like the previous one, it happened to all of us (and it will), poker isn't just a constant upswing.

I saw you have a nice sample on NL2 already, why don't you share some hands and your statistics with us? Maybe someone can notice spots, where you can improve your winrate easily.

About the stats ... I really don't know which stats are relevant, but here are some, I can add more:
(I did not add the last losing sessions, they might not be representative)

- Looking at it myself, I probably really open too wide in the early positions.

- Isn't that a really low Cbet% (SRP=single raised pot)? I think I used to cbet a lot more in the past...

- Yeah .. and then there is this losing at showdown thingy .. and maybe (way) too high WTSD%?

- Might be leaking in the blinds.

Oh, and from now on, now that I hit $100:

With everything that I have above $100 -or 50 buyins at NL2-, I can pretty much play anything I like. I can play $5nl, MTTs, whatever. But when bankroll = $100 it's back to $2nl.

Will not play 5nl yet though until I am confident in my game, but might play some MTTs.

It's nice you posted positional stats already, also good that you included the overall line as well!

but first things first:
I entered another MTT, 200- players, 6max KO. Entree too much for my bankroll, but I have Tight-Aggressive bankrollmanagement. Tight: A lot of buyins for lowest level. Aggressive with what I have more.
Anyway, we are drifting off..

Not only did I hit final tables back to back (not very large MTTs: 700- and 200-),
I also got HU back to back
And this time, I managed to win!!!
And: this time I took care to take a screenshot of the pop-up message:

Well now that I'm rich I have to think what I will do. I think I'll move up to nl5 pretty soon, or at least take some shots. Not immediately though, still at $2nl now.

But now I can also start to play MTTs more often. Although that's a bit of a gamble because I will never be able to make volume. I always 1-table when I play an MTT. More than 1 table and my play goes down a lot, and more important: I start to lose the fun it it.

I will keep 50 buyins now for $5nl = $250 as my 'homebase', and everything I have above that I can spend on whatever I want to play.

Small Update:

- Lost quite a lot playing expensive MTT's. That's okay, I took a shot and didn't work out. I will play 1 more 'expensive' MTT: probably the Sunday Storm KO edition tonight. After that, if I don't win a bunch, it's back to $2.20 and $3.30 MTTs.

- I did not play much cashgames. I am just afraid to play cash, but don't really have trouble playing tournaments. I played just a few hands $2nl and about 800 hands $5nl now. Breaking evenish there. But I am getting back in the saddle, slowly getting my mojo back. I need some adjusting-time to the bet amounts at $5nl. It also feels like playing high stakes after playing $2nl haha :f_tongue:.
Hopefully I can manage to get the 4200 hands in before thursday to reach at least the 5K hands/week. Well hopefully I play more.

Bankroll management is important.
If you like playing the expensive MTTs one way to do it is to set aside half your cash game winnings for those.

If you're rolled for up to $5.00 MTTs ($500 bankroll) for example, and you've won $22.00 in the week, then you can play one $11 MTT

You're still in profit, and you have that shot.

If you're going to do that though, devote some of your study time to MTTs

After tonight, I won't play the higher ones anymore. I am not going to play MTTs with cashgame winnings, but I was thinking of doing that with rakeback/bonusses etc.

And yes if I continue to play MTTs I should also put in the study time. I am going to have to decide if I really want to play often MTTs as well as cashgames.
