:diamond: Play a fixed schedule.

:diamond: Study lots.

:diamond: Grind lots.

:diamond: Try not to lose Kevvu on K Road/Fort Street and cause an international incident between NZ and Estonia.

:diamond: Watch NZ put on three worthy performances in South Africa. An aggregate difference of 5 goals against from the three games would be sufficient. A draw staggering. A win and the country goes nana's for a year.

Oh forgot to warn you, I started running good again.

:f_rolleyes: Look, this inversely related run good relationship simply isn't going to work if we can't communicate.

Incidently, good news my man! Run good on 5/T must be a happy place. $$$$. Not that we're results oriented ofc. _cool:

Unfortunately I can't take sklansky bucks to the bank so it's forgiveable to be results orientated sometimes =)

Fair play. Although it's hard to believe Sklansky bucks are worth less than South Pacific Pesos. :f_rolleyes:

BTW, whenever you're ready to hand back some of that run good I'm ready for it. I never looked good in red.

What?

Probably the most important focus for the month IMO. :f_p:

Clear bonus at 888.com FAIL

Right. I'm likely to give up my pursuit of the 888.com bonus.. it is just waay too hard to clear at $1/$2 given the lack of tables, and accordingly, vast amount of time it requires. I'm still only clearing, at best 25 points an hour, and now require 140+ points per day to stay on pace. I haven't attacked this site with the hours I needed to to maintain pace - I had the chance but made excuses for not giving it the best go.

I was continuing hoping I might run good for a while and get rolled for $2/$4 again which would make clearing the bonus doable, but I'm still reversing - less rapidly - so that opporunity, I think, is gone. I had considered an aggressive BRM just for 888.com and playing $2/$4 anyway, but I'm now at a point where a -50BB run at $2/$4 would be BR crippling, so I consider the risk too great.

I will grind out a day or two more because I'm on the cusp of platinum status and that gives me access to a few vids I want to watch. After that I think I'm done.

FTP Grinder FTW

What attempting to clear the 888.com bonus has shown me, if nothing else, is that playing 6 hours a day is pretty easily accomplished (I've been averaging 3-4 on 888 whilst continuing with 1-2 on FTP when there is no traffic). Those sort of hours at FTP playing $1/$2 SH two tabling equates to around $200 a week in rakeback alone.

The question is can I start playing well enough to avoid becoming under-rolled for $1/$2?

I'm back in study mode, and my intention is to devote 8 hours a day, at least 6 days a week to poker until the end of May. In that time I'll either get a decent roll for $2/$4 (which I'm going to set at $3k for my own reasons) or I'll end up at $.50/$1 and likely give up on grinding FL, other than occassional fun sessions and start playing MTTs as a casual thing.

I will be disciplined in my time management and planning, I will fight Horace the Tilt Monster with every ounce of will, and I will study with intent.

One other minor advantage of this effort is FTP has a WSOP freeroll available for anyone making 3k FTP a week - it works out at some ridiculous odds of getting a seat, but then the WSOP is at the heart of why I even started playing so I don't mind the odd ridiculous dream.

:f_confused: out.

Put horace in a pink dress and lipstick so he is too embarassed to even show up!!!

I just wanted to mention while reading this post, I hope you allow for unforseen circumstances
to push this date well past May if need be.

I find that over the months your daily circumstances are bound to change so dramatically that poker may
become harder and harder to accomodate. I hope if this happens to you you don't hold to your deadline
untill you have time to play at a comfy pace again.

I did this before and it bit me in the ass is why I am typing this.

GL!!

Okay, that's an acceptable level of bragging. Ofc, I would have just been impressed with the green line alone...

I know I am supposed to wait for your epic end of April post but I wanted to say congratz on the promo.

Thanks folks. :f_cool:

Month update to come in a couple of days (LDO). Weird times.

Strangest thing....

I was at the corner store and I was in the milk section.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something about the milk cartons..

I picked one up and it said MISSING: Waiboy and his blog update!! have you seen either? please call this number.

It was long distance so I couldn't let them know of your last known whereabouts which was here promising
an epic update at the end of April!!

Oh the suspense!!!

LOL! Meh, I'm thinking the content/tone of the summary over. TBH I'm finding it a bit difficult to work out how to write it up - there is some psychomalogicamal stuff and poker related self loathing stuff I'm trying to work out whether I want to put it down or ignore it for the sake of brevity/relevance/focus.

In whatever form it may take, it's coming in the next 48 hours! Promise. :f_love:

nice blog... i am dump too... :f_love: :f_love: :f_love: :f_love: :f_love:

Okay.. so this is likely to be the worst monthly review I've posted in terms of entertainment value.

I'm not posting garphs, needless to say there isn't much worth reading. To save a bit of rambling here are the salient points, in no particular order, arising from this month:

:diamond: I realised that even though I consistently note how horrible I play, that it somehow doesn't do justice to the horror that is my game. After 20 odd months of playing 15 - 20k hands per month and studying with some focus at least 25% of that time I really have no idea. I think as bad as my game is though I think I can say I am capable of beating $.50/$1 SH with religious table selection at between 0.5BB - 1BB/100 - which frankly sucks. :f_thumbsup:

:diamond: TwiceT's awesome Black Member post made me think pretty seriously about a few things poker wise. The primary one is the absolute import of approaching the game from a purely professional perspective. I've thought along these lines before, and thought around them a lot, but I think outside of a week or two I've not really followed this line as far as I should. Partially through being lazy and weak minded and partially through an underlying belief that poker time is essentially a pastime and not worthy of having a better attitude. April has seen the first time I've tried to throw the switch on my mental approach to the ruthless professional mindset. I've not properly succeeded to do so, but every day I'm getting better.

:diamond: I played the most I've ever played this month - in excess of 30k hands. This was actually less than I want to - ideally this month I'll get close, if not over, 40k hands. I split my play between 888.com and FTP as I was trying to clear the FDB at 888.com - a complete waste of time as it required waaay to much time commitment. I won't try and clear bonuses at other sites unless I get established at $2/$4 SH.

:diamond: After shotting $2/$4 SH at the end of last month.. to disasterous effect over a tiny sample size.. the start of this month was awesome. Well, the first day was.... after that I pretty much didn't have a winning day for the next week or so. I completely spat the dummy and withdrew back to a $600 BR before I donated the cash to the FTP faithful. I'm not ready to be Jesus just yet.

I then went on a heater and got back to shotting $1/$2 SH again, before ending the last ten days of April donating again so I'm back at around $600 again after a month of grinding, and withdrawing all bonuses and RB.

None of this is in any way remarkable with reference to the first point. :f_eek:

:diamond: Over the last three or four days of April and start of May I barely played. It was the least volume I've played in ages. I absolutely didn't feel compelled to play for any length of time in absolutely ages. And it has helped. I'm back ready to smash into it again. I continue to formulate plans and want to actually implement them rather than think/talk about implementing them.

I can't get over how addicted to this game I am. There is virtually no other pastime I can think of that I could commit so much time to for so little return. All I want to do now though is actually end this time with some sort of understanding of this game - otherwise what a complete waste of life.

It's not a glass half full/half empty conundrum. It's a "why waste time staring at a glass?" conundrum.

I don't think I'll post May goals - although I will write some out for myself. I'm going to have a strategic think through what I hope to achieve in the next 6 -8 weeks, and how I'm going to achieve it, over the remainder of this week. Depending on the success I have formulating the plan and my attitude toward it I may or may not post it here. TBH it feels a bit of a waste of time posting it, I'd rather post my results at the end of the month - success or failure.

:f_confused: out.
