wow, good dedication guys.
How do you feel about working with a schedule? IE, working around your buddy and having to be on Skype at the times that you agreed, rather than doing it when you want to do it?

Y we're working every day at 10am EU time. CET+1. I wake up at 9.30. Have breakfast, etc and at 10 am I'm ready. We study from 10-12 depending on how much we have to study. Never more than 2 hrs.
Yesterday we discussed the CO's raising range and SB-BB's 3bet and 4 bet/5 bet game. I believe we will also have that in our seminar some time in the near future so why not be ready for that
Today we reviewed all the hands in which we raised from CO and got 3bet. In 6k hands I played yesterday - only made 1 mistake probably (which wasn't rly a mistake while not knowing the villain). Even if maybe I wouldn't do too many mistakes, I would definitely understand better CO's raising ranges and how to play against.
We worked before on our game. He's a solid reg but plays nl50 only (family,bankroll,2nd kid now etc). Now he wants to move up stakes and thus he has motivation to work. I also have a ton of motivation to beat nl200 and play zoom 500
Well at least give it a shot sooner or later. But first need to establish well at nl200 with a solid bankroll
Hey.
Thx for dropping in Erik!
Today we're postponing a bit the coaching cause he has to buy smth for his 2nd kid who is not even 1 month and I slept more because I'm sick and need more sleep for faster recovery and yesterday came at 1 am from sport. Yes I'm doing sport even when I'm sick and I believe it helps.
In terms of my poker playing - Yesterday I started -5BI in 650 hands and thought I shouldn't play because maybe I'm sick and not doing some things right but then I took a 2h break, watched the hands and saw just coolers. Afterwards got a +3BI session and ended by being down 2BI. This month I'm in a good + and I'm happy I'm working well. I'm also closing in on supernova and next month I'll be able to do it and get my bonuses from fpps and have even a more solid bankroll. Most importantly right now is to get well (health wise), to keep analyzing every morning and keep playing 4-6k hands daily.
Regarding the mental preparation - I just don't do it since I came back from London and that is kinda bad. Now that you've written I actually remembered that I've got a file and have to read it every day and do what's in it
I've just read it and added some things and the only thing I haven't done is the post the hands into the forum but I've been analyzing them with my friend. Probably I should add more for my mental preparation - things like 10min meditation, Do the things you said in the last video (regarding tilt) etc.
I also thought it would be nice to have a wishlist file (bucket list) w/e. That way it'll keep my motivation up and I won't foget some of the things I want to do.
Cheers!

1. I really recommend you tog et started with this right away. it will do so much for you poker game, tilt and a-game. Vid 2 comes out tomorrow on "The Warm-Up" just keep following the instructions in it and do the work for 2 weeks or so and you will see how well it works.
2.Couldn't agree more!
What would be on the list?
For now the list is in no particular order
-Go to the sea in summer (more like a plan)
-Go to an EPT/WSOP
-Go to some live tournament in general in Europe.
-Buy a house
-Go to Gibraltar (chess tournament in January, summer mb to visit my friend)
-Go to Paris (brother/friends)
-Buy a dog (need a house/good flat for that)
-Get a good kitchen/learn to cook very well
-Give up smoking/become a singer
-Learn to play guitar classic/electric
-Become a chess International Grand-master (I'm International Master now)
These are like dreams, not plans. The realization of these dreams are not too out of common although some are harder to achieve. Some might come in combination together like summer+Gibraltar or smth like that.

Ok nice to see you have long term goals/dreams. What you wan to do now is to look at medium term goals that are halfway to were you want to get and see what you need to do to get there. Maybe what you need to do the next 2-3 months. Then you want to break those goals down in even smaller short term goals that you can work on every day and session. Any ideas on how you can break these longterm goals/dreams down further?
I'll let schnitzel know about this too so he can help with structure and learning..
Cheers!
Hey. So I made another break yesterday. I'm demotivated, etc. It's that time of the month when I can't just motivate myself to work/play/train.
Every month since January at around the 20th I start being demotivated. Is it because I'm getting tired?

Could be. Can you explain a bit more how motivation comes and goes?
You can either passively wait for motivation to come back, or actively do something to motivate yourself. Everything is in the doing. Can you think about anything specific that you've done int he past that had made you motivation come back?
Every month arround the dates 20-25 I become unmotivated. I've thought about it and it's possible that these dates because my month ends break evenly, it is possible that I become tired or because I get annoyed. Don't know the cause. To describe it:
- I can't concentrate enough so that I play proper poker. I immediately see this and stop playing. I force myself to focus, do warm-ups etc and make 30min-1h sessions. That way I force myself to play 1k hands daily. During these days I tend to search for some other things to do, like excuses, like going out with friends, spend time with girlfriend or just watch movies/football. W/e basically to be busy from working and bringing myself to good motivation. It's like taking a break from poker. After 2-3 days I feel again the need to play and my motivation comes back. All these days I might also train with my friend or just study poker/watch videos etc. I also tend to think actively about poker in general and also more precise spots.
Even though this might be ok to do every once in a while, this should be a reason for some emotions and effects that are hidden in my mind during the whole month and I would like to find out which and try to fix if it's something that needs fixing.

There are a few thing to think about here. First of all, it's ok to take a break for a day or three when your "poker mind" is starting to get tired. Instead of putting in these 30min-1hours sessions when you are already tired can possibly be removed all together, sometimes you just need rest. You just have to keep a look out for that this become an excuse when you are only a little tired. As you say youraelf. Taking a fw days off seems to be working for you, try to structure it up better for example; focus your poker around the weekends with studying in the middle of the week and take mon/tue off for example. Maybe you are pushing too hard in the beginning of the month since it feels like a fresh start. Then you reach the end of the month and the results are not what you hoped so you slow down the last few days.
Could it be connected to you now wanting to put in 100% effort at the end because it would feel like defeat if you played the whole month through and the results didn't show up?
Structure outside with schedules and goal setting, session goals etc helps to keep you on track. Structure inside is equally as important. Mindfulness and meditation will take a lot of the accumulated emotions that build up during the month away. Everything build exponentially so doing it even when you are motivated is key..
Thx! It's very possible I'm demotivated by the results. Obviously being result oriented is a wrong view, but sometimes you just can't help it right? I mean I haven't done any money since the beginning of the year although I learned a lot by playing nl200 and taking those 2 shots I did. I feel as well that my game has become way better. Right now though I believe I should just grind NL100 until I become supernova and build a healthier bankroll so that my mindset isn't affected by the fact that my shot might fail at higher limits. I'm studying almost every day 1-3 h, usually around 2 h and I'm also making warm-ups and cognitive breathing at least once a day. I should probably intensify the last one although I believe as a chess player and quite experienced poker player I have good emotional preparation and can withstand the pressure better than others. Although why should I withstand more pressure than others is another question I should think about.
Anyways thx for the input! As you said everything builds exponentially so everything I would be doing should be helping me although I might not notice some.
Things to do:
-structure goals and targets
-practice mindfulness, meditation more
-think about taking some days off or not/try both approaches.
I'm back to poker
Well I was never away. I was just grinding those higher micro/lower small stakes. I'm at NL100 now and playing 4NL100/2NL50 zoom tables and after half a year of grinding and analysis I understood that my main problem is/was and maybe will still be BRM. Shots and all is good but as the game gets better you need to be more conservative and I decided to go 100BIs. Since I've made that decision and following it - I'm feeling good. Hope I don't gamble with my own $ and try to keep it together with a normal income from poker.
My second problem was not analyzing enough - well I was focused on grinding but analysis was really not my problem. When I was doing it - I was playing well, when I wasn't I was doing poorly and didn't know why. Now I got that too.
I also hope to make 200k vpps by the end of the year and wish me best of luck
PS - hope someone still follows these.
Best of luck for sure. Several month since your last update but it is great to see you again. Yeah good luck at achieving your goals and hope to se you around more often. I will follow you for sure.
Hi Dorian, good to have back and I hope you are well.
Now, since you've been away a few things have popped up.
There is a newly recommended analysis tool available which you can see here:
There is also another Bootcamp starting in December which may interest you:
Included in which, these guys are obviously indispensible for the psychological approach:
My apologies if I spammed your blog with news you already knew.
Enjoy
Mal.
Your blog was a really good read until you stopped. Keep the hands coming like you did in the beginning of the year. It looked like you really improved. Not sure why you stopped
