You moved up from 25c to $3 Spins really quickly, is there a big difference in toughness of fields?

joaocarlosjacinto: Yes, because in 25c and $1 games the field is very soft. If you follow the basic preflop strategy of SpinLegends you will crush the 25c and $1 with great ease, as the game is usually more preflop. However, at the $3 limit the game starts to be concentrated on the postflop game. Here it is very important you know how to exploit the weaknesses of each type of player, adapt and put the villain on possible ranges. So the game becomes more complex.

What lessons did you learn to make this move up in skill?

joaocarlosjacinto: Some key factors that helped me push the boundaries:

First was to have a daily routine of playing at least three sessions of 55 minutes and watching one video a day and then reviewing and posting hands that I had doubt on in the forums. In addition, our Silver group coach allows us to upload video sessions that we played to identify leaks and improve our game, which helped me a lot in my game.

The second factor that helped a lot was to study the mental game, to understand how a variable can harm our game and how to maximize my intellectual abilities through healthy eating, regular physical exercise and a positive mindset.

You won $1,000 with a PokerStars Chest, what was that like?

joaocarlosjacinto: It was a bit funny, since in the two previous Chests I only won two StarsCoin and when I opened the next ark without any expectation of winning something significant, a block of money saying $1,000 cash appeared on the screen.

At first I looked at my balance and boom! I had $1,000 more in my account, it was like winning the lottery, I smiled the rest of the night as if I did not believe what happened.

As somebody who plays Spin & Go, which also have random rewards, what do you think of Chests?

joaocarlosjacinto: I see the new reward system of PokerStars with a good eye because it creates a lottery effect that has a great power to attract players who just want to have fun. joaocarlosjacinto: Brazil is bit different from Venezuela, we are facing an economic crisis, the country has great inequalities between regions such as the northeast that the quality of life is low and there are developed regions with high quality of life, like southeast.

I graduated in pharmacy, from a federal university and work as a pharmacist in a drugstore chain.

Poker has always been my hobby since college, but I’ve never been so close to becoming a professional poker player. I hope that in the near future I can get out of my job and have the financial stability to do a Masters and Ph.D., become a university professor and conduct research on toxicology, and poker can give me this chance.

Is poker big in Brazil?

joaocarlosjacinto: Poker in Brazil does not stop growing, casinos in Brazil are prohibited, however card rooms are allowed and each year the number of establishments increases.

Poker is recognised by Brazilian legislation as a sport of the mind, which makes it more popular for the sport. The number of players in the sport does not stop growing year after year currently the number of poker players is estimated at seven million players.

What are your plans for poker and SpinLegends in general?

joaocarlosjacinto: My main goal in poker is to get the skills needed to make me a professional poker player, so I’ll have to devote several hours of study and get a lot of volume in.

What makes me confident that I will achieve my goal is having the support of SpinLegends, who provides us with the necessary knowledge to beat each limit. As well as providing a community in which we can solve the most diverse questions.

I love teaching and if one day I acquire the necessary knowledge I would like to be a SpinLegends coach and help other players fulfill their dreams through poker.
