Dr Carol Dweck has spent her life studying 'Fixed' and 'Growth' Mindsets and as you will see, part of improving in life and in poker is believing that it is possible.
Growth Mindsets are particularly important in poker because we have the added element of variance that can sometimes make trying to improve seem futile. You can sometimes do everything right in poker and still lose, so it's very easy to have a Fixed Mindset. It's hard to shake off a Fixed Mindset if that's how you are wired, but the research has also shown that it can be changed, so you have nothing to lose by just trying to be a little bit more optimistic about your chances of improving.
