World Poker Tour announces event on a cruise ship

After a long hiatus poker is once again on the high seas next year with a World Poker Tour festival through the Caribbean.

One of the great things about poker is the opportunity to travel, and in 2024 the World Poker Tour has something very in that department. 

In the spring of 2024, poker enthusiasts worldwide will have a new exciting destination as the World Poker Tour takes over the Virgin Voyages’ award-winning ship, the Valiant Lady. The WPT Voyage is set to take place from March 31 to April 6, 2024, and promises a packed roster of events and guarantees a prize pool of $1.5 million.

The six-day voyage will have the 1,400-cabin Valiant Lady embarking from Miami and making stops in the exotic locales of Grand Cayman and Bimini, Bahamas. Designed for Sailors aged 18 and above, the ship offers more than just poker. On board the Valiant Lady, participants can indulge in fine dining, world-class entertainment, and a comprehensive calendar of off-the-felt events.

80 tables of poker and fun experiences

The poker tournament offerings are quite enticing. Over 80 poker tables are being set up to facilitate the $5,000 Main Tour event and the $1,100 WPT Prime event, promising guarantees of $1,000,000 and $500,000 respectively. There is also a $25,000 High Roller event, Ladies event a Mystery Bounty event, along with a variety of cash games.

The trip includes a range of land and sea excursions in the Caribbean, offering participants a chance to experience kayaking, snorkeling, cultural tours, and even a golf tournament in Grand Cayman hosted by WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage. The journey culminates in a massive pool party at Bimini Beach Club with an exclusive performance, marking an epic ending to the six-day WPT Voyage.

This is not the first time a poker festival has taken place on a cruise ship. The WPT PartyPoker Million and the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise both did this too, but both were been almost two decades ago. 

Qualifiers have not been announced yet, but they are set to begin in September at WPT Global.
