Mantelo to represent the PokerStrategy community at WSOP Paradise

After he won 'most' of a WSOP seat already, our friends at GGPoker rounded it up to a complete package. We have some fun content and promos lined up to celebrate...

If you have been following his Bankroll Challenge Blog, you will know that our blogging superstar mantelo had a very frustrating near miss in a WSOP Paradise. He actually won the tournament outright, but as per the GGPoker T&Cs it had finished before late registration, so he just got the collected money, not the package.

So close, yet so far

We were just as disappointed as he was, so we spoke with our friends at GGPoker and explained that Mantelo is a Bankroll Challenge superstar who recently went from freerolls to $100k. They agreed he was the kind of player they wanted at WSOP Paradise and agreed to 'round up' the satellite win to a complete package to play in the WSOP Paradise Main Event!

We grabbed a few words with our Bankroll Challenger...

"The satellites will get softer"

There are three big live MTTs happening at the same time across the globe this December, what made you want to qualify for WSOP Paradise?

mantelo: When deciding which live events I want to play, I try to prioritise places where I have not been yet. I've already played in Prague and Las Vegas, so the Bahamas topped my list. And when they offered lots of seats to qualifiers, the choice was easy.

How soft have the satellites been?

mantelo: Satellites up to $100 were very soft, but on the last step of $1,000 you start witnessing some of the best players in the world. The further we go, the softer the satellites will get as most good players will win their seats sooner.

Is it worth playing the qualifiers later for that reason?

mantelo: For sure, the later you play, the better chances you get. But I would encourage you to start playing sooner, so you would get enough time to prepare for your trip.

"I might give back to the community..."

What did you think when GG & PokerStrategy offered you a seat to Paradise?

mantelo: I didn't expect such a huge gift as it will be my highest buy-in game. Usually, people with a high number of followers or streamers get such presents, so I'm very happy that Pokerstrategy picked one of the most loyal members instead.

What is your gameplan for the festival? Will you be concentrating on the main event or playing side events? How do you prepare for live poker?

mantelo: The main event is on focus, but I also plan to play some side events. As for preparing, my biggest mistake in the past was that I tried to study too much before the festivals and when the tournaments actually started, I felt a little overwhelmed. So now I try not to differ too much from my usual routine but maintain three strong cores - sleep, food, exercise.

Are you going to be updating your blog while you are there?

mantelo: I plan to keep my blog active during the festival. If there is interest from the community, I might gift something back to them as well.

As Mantelo says, stay tuned to PokerStrategy.com as, together with GGPoker, we have decided to do something very special for the PokerStrategy.com community who want to rail him at WSOP Paradise!

Finally, make sure you bookmark Mantelo's blog as he prepares for his trip to Paradise.

This year GGPoker are sending over 1,000 qualifiers to their WSOP Paradise event. The Main Event boasts a $15 million guarantee - but the real value might be in the satellites.

You can qualify direct in $1,200 satellites that are running around the clock.

$1,200 might be too rich for a lot of players, but the feeder satellites are also overlaying in some instances. There are regular $125 qualifiers to win a ticket to the $1,200 final, with feeders as low as $15. This is the current satellite structure, which no doubt will change:

GGPoker WSOP Paradise Satellite Tree
$10,000 WSOP Paradise Package
$1,200 Direct Qualifier
$125 Mega Satellite
$15 Mega Satellite

Right now most of the satellites only guarantee one seat, but as the event gets closer we will see mega satellites that provide even more value. An important point of consideration, however, is that an overlaying satellite has to go beyond late registration to guarantee the package. If the tournament ends before late registration the winner just takes down the collected prize pool instead.

You can play in satellites after winning a package, however winning a second satellite will only earn you T$5,000, not the full $10,000 package. You can see the full schedule for the GGPoker WSOP Paradise below:
