TwiceT: It's all about soul reading when you play heads-up

While he is busy preparing for his League of Champions match against g3no this Saturday, we have managed to get TwiceT to answer a few questions. Read to see if he is ready to "move it move it"!

You all probably know by now that twicet has managed to play his way into the playoff phase of the PokerStrategy.com League of Champions after finishing fourth in the league phase.

He will now continue his journey against German player g3no, in a match which will determine if he will continue the quest for the $25,000 first place prize, or be the first one out of the playoffs.

PokerStrategy.com: TwiceT, congratulations, you made it to the playoffs of the League of Champions. Are you satisfied with your performance so far?

twicet: Thank you! Well, my first goal was to reach the playoffs, which I achieved. So I am satisfied with the outcome so far. My second goal now is to win the league.

PokerStrategy.com: You were one of the strongest players in the league and even though you didn’t make it into the points during the last 4 league matches, you still could finish fourth in the overall rankings. Are you confident of going straight for the victory in this event?

twicet: The slower the structure, the bigger is my edge usually. The problem with such fast MTTs is that you really need to get into some spots in the early blind levels. Already from level 3 on, it's more a preflop push/fold than a postflop game.

As a consequence, variance is huge and it can easily happen that you don't score points in consecutive events. Overall, for the whole series, I think I built up a great image because I could show several bluffs in the early blind levels. That lead to nice pay-offs whenever I hit big.

In the first half of the series, most players played way too passive and had way too much respect. However, in the last match days, I think the games got way more aggressive and the players adapted well.

Since the heads-up matches are just best of 3, I think variance will be too big to say that it's going be easy to win the series. I would be more confident, if it was like best of 13.

If I ship the $25,000, there will be a party in Vienna for sure

PokerStrategy.com: Your first playoff match takes place on Saturday against g3no, who is not a regular heads-up player. What do you think about this upcoming match? Will you check how he played previous heads-ups?

twicet: I can't talk too much about my assumptions and my game plan, because I expect him to read this interview. Since heads-up is just about getting into your opponent's head, I don't think getting hand histories from MTTs has too much value.

It's all about mind fucking and soul reading when you play heads-up! Even getting heads-up hands might not help, because I just want to know how he plays against me and my playing style. My prediction: 2:0 for me.

PokerStrategy.com: You have already $1,000 locked up. What will you do with that money and what will you do if you win even more money?

twicet: There is no big difference between $1,000$ and $5,000 for 5th to 3rd place. $25,000 for first place sounds good to me though. There are no plans if I ship $1,000-$10,000, but if I ship the $25,000, there will be a party in Vienna for sure. I have to do the King Julian dance on video, which should be great fun muhahahaha.

PokerStrategy.com: Is there anything you would like to add?

twicet: Especially in the first game, g3no will have many fan boys who will be railing for him. Basically, the whole German BBV forum will be cheering for him. I hope some people from the English and other communities are tuning in to the live stream to support me, so I don't feel too alone!

Also, I think watching the heads-up matches might have a lot of educational value even when not seeing the hole cards (but if you watched LoC in the last weeks, TwiceT is showing his cards anyway from time to time... that's because, I like to move it move it!)
