After our articles about calling stations and maniacs we are publishing a new article about another type of player: "Playing against rocks".

Today we present you a new No Limit strategy article: "Playing against rocks". Many players have problems to play against these players - especially if they do not recognize the rock as a rock and pay him off.

"A rock is an extremely tight-aggressive player. A rock does not play marginal hands preflop. His VP$IP score in SH-games will usually be between 5% and 12%. Unlike calling stations, he will not play large pots with 2nd pair, gutshot, etc. postflop. Additionally, a rock plays his playable hands oftentimes in a passive manner, i.e. he checks and calls more often than an aggressive player and bets and raises less frequently. His aggression factor is usually smaller than 1.5. He plays strong made hands like top pair, which you should bet for value and for protection, passively and most of all he plays his draws more passively than other players. You will hardly ever see a semibluff or even a pure bluff from a rock."
