Russia Dominate The First 888poker Team Battle
Just like they did on the pitch, the team of poker enthusiasts representing Russia in the 888poker Team Battle dominated the Czech Republic in the opening match of this exclusive tournament series for PokerStrategy.com.

The first match in the 888poker Team Battle was about as one sided as it gets, as players representing 
Russia outclassed players representing 
the Czech Republic. In fact, it was so one sided that not only was the entire final table representing Russia, only one Czech player made it into the money.
The eventual winner was "BVG1972" who took down the first prize of $44.23, after he defeated "goldfather55" heads-up. 100 players in total registered for this event, with ten making the money. However, half of the $300 prize pool was distributed among everyone in the winning team, meaning that every single player representing Russia walked away with a profit.

It has to be said that the football match this Team Battle mirrored played out almost as one sided as its poker counterpart. Russia demolished the Czech Republic 4-1, to not only top their group, but also instantly become the team to beat in this tournament.
Russia played an exciting blend of attacking, free flowing football that the Czech Republic simply did not have an answer to. Alan Dzagoev may have scored two goals, but it was perhaps his teammate Andrey Arshavin who will win the plaudits after being involved in everything that went well for Russia.
Russia look both exciting and dangerous, and just like their poker community in the 888poker Team Battle, will prove hard to beat in this tournament.
